Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

"Some consider him the next Brian Urlacher, at least when Urlacher was healthy. Saban, who doesn't just throw praise around, said he's the football version of Albert Pujols."

"This season, McClain's stat line is impressive. In eight games, e has 57 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, two sacks, two interceptions, seven quarterback hurries, three passes defended and a forced fumble.

McClain will also do well in offseason testing. He recently told a reporter his body fat was only 9 percent. When asked about his 40 time, McClain said he ran a 4.59 and 4.63 over the summer.

But McClain isn't one of those players who doesn't play up to his speed. He's always going hard and fast toward the ball. He takes correct angles to the ball carrier and doesn't get caught up on blocks.

While McClain is rumored to have some anger issues, is that such a bad thing for a middle linebacker?"

Stagdsp you read my mind sometimes

I made a post about wanting him over Taylor Mays if we pick out of the Eric Berry and O Kung range. To be honest I want him over O Kung but I wouldnt be mad if we did draft Okung. He could be a final piece to an astonishing front 7. Sign Ryan Pickett from FA and were stacked with Hali, DJ Williams, and McClain. Im convinced Dj could come in for Vrabel too. McClain would solidfy the MLB spot and keep Mays on the bench.

I know people think im crazy for thinking DJ could play on the edge but alot of people said Dorsey couldnt play DE and we all know how that happened.

yeah...

good thoughts.

The more I read about this guy, the more I like him.

I have to agree that he’d be a good choice IF Berry and Okung were off the board…
they could then maybe grab a Black/Young/Fox at OT in the 2nd OR… even better… a Safety like Earl Thomas or Nate Allen.

the first 3 rounds of the draft could look like:
1 McClain, ILB
2 Allen, FS
2 Young, OT (or Iuapati, G)
3 Tennant, C (or Jerry, G)

that’d be a good haul, I think

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

So a 1st rd Safety

or a 1st rd MLB?
Neither generally goes in top 5 or top 10.
There are NO top 10 NT, Rush LB’s, top 5 LOT’s.
The top 10 is generally QB, LOT’s, Rush LB’s, DL.
What is a team to do when NO one fits the mold for a top 5 pick?

BREAK the mold and grab the guy that makes your team better

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them.

Yeah you will see that mold break..

Now a day teams are taking the best players. Aaron Curry for example.

yep, or as 311 said...

“don’t break the mold, just eat around it”

I think Okung is a top 5 LT, Suh is a top 5 DL (not NT)

But, after that, you have to go best player in the draft… Which is Berry, IMO… but McClain is gaining some steam.

I don’t think you’d be concerned IF you got the next Brian Urlacher or Ed Reed on your team… you wouldn’t be sitting around saying, “darn, spent too high of a draft pick on that guy”

My favorite other than berry..

This guy could be the leader of our defense and could bring something to the table we don’t have in DJ.. Intelligence.. Rolando is very smart and he’s a beast..
If we could do this I’d be one happy chiefs fan..
1 McClain ILB
2 Von Miller, Sergio Kindle, Jerry Hughes, or my fav Ricky Sapp..OLB
2 Sergio Render or Rodney Hudson G (Idaho G if available but, doubtful)
3 Mauricke Pouncey C
4 Darrel Stuckey S
5 Danario Alexander WR Great Draft right there..

I have to disagree with you and Stag slightly, Stag on Young, You on a couple picks. All of this is assuming Berry and O Kung is gone...

1. Rolando McClain MLB
2. Lupati OG
2b. Trevard Lindley CB- Could play some S (I think this pick will be higher then we think when the ATL dont make the playoffs So maybe Von Miller or Eric Norwood)
3. Anthony Dixon RB
4. Jd Walton C
5. Denarrio Alexander WR
5. Vladimer Decasse OG/OT (Not that I like him because I dont know anything about him but Pioli and Parcells are intrested then he is worth a look)
5. Sergio Render OG

not a bad looking draft there...

but, I still think a badass FS is a HUGE need

I think Lindley will end up playing safety...

He runs a 4.5 which is good for a FS but below average for a CB. He can cover the pass and the run pretty well and he is a value pick rfight here. I would rather have Norwood but I think he will go in the early second.

Serio will be taken in the second lol

He’s in the top three prospects at guard along with Hudson and Iupati.. Iupati will be taken in the first i believe even tho its not usual.. And hudson is a junior so idk..

But there is no way he falls to 5th round..

this site has Sergio as the #5 guard, and not in the top 100 draft prospects

I see what you're saying, biggy...

Lupati sounds like a unique prospect at G, along with Johnson and Jerry…

I think Buffalo did draft Eric Wood in the 1st last year, and he’s playing G for them… so it could happen.

Obviously, it’s very early… but this does seem to be a deep draft with some solid OL in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds… hopefully the Chiefs can snag some starting-caliber players

Yeah.. At the very least he drops to the 3rd and a team gets a steal..

I would love to have him and hudson.. They’d be great great additions to this team! You can prolly get hudson it the first of the 3rd because he’s younger and doesn’t have as much experience but, Jerry is good too.. If we pick up a G and C and a T in the draft and get a G like colledge in FA we’d be good..

by Kcbiggyblue on Nov 6, 2009 11:58 AM CST reply actions

Why do you keep saying that.....

Show me some proof that he will go in the 3rd even for sure.

He is coming off an injury which will hurt his stock..

Also there are 4 better guards in my opinion. Look on these sites which the most professional site for the draft. I recomend going there if you want to find out about players.

Pouncey, Johnson, Hudson, Lupati

Are all above him along with a couple of tackles that could move to G
