ESPN story about Benard Pollard in Houston
Kind of ironic since we are having a problem at safety right now. Why did we let him go?

Chiefs Fans will never admit that Pioli messed up until a couple years down the road.....
When you release the best S on your team by 3 or 4 times, Its gonna hurt. The Texans got a steal. I said it when it happened. Maybe we gave Pioli too much Credit. Now that he is in KC, I do think the Hoody made alot of the major decisions. Realeasing Pollard was undoubtably the dumbest move Pioli has ever made.

Then why didn't anyone else in the league think that way?
Why didn’t his defensive coordinator of the past few years want anything to do with him? I think you all are forgetting that he passed through waivers. That means EVERY GM passed on him…and the Texans would only give him a chance at a discounted rate….
It was not just Pioli, bud. Every team passed up the chance to claim him and he sat jobless for a few weeks.

The Texans GM did...
That doesnt mean anything that he passed thru waivers. Plenty of players have passed thru waivers that are still good players. Its not always about how they play. Maybe the Texans didnt want to pick up the contract the Chiefs had with him and they wanted to pay him the minimun. IDK but it doesnt mean he passed thru because of a lack of talent. I hope you just didnt like Pollard, Because, If your making that arguement to stick up for Pioli thats pathetic.

No...if he passed through waivers and was picked up at a discount it means something...
He wasn’t worth it and every GM knew it…Regardless of what he is doing now, every GM in the league looked at his history and wanted nothing to do with him.
(Note: If you are going to call a poster “pathetic” you shouldn’t pick a moderator.)

I agree
The only real knock on him was he wasn’t good in pass coverage, but you show me any safety that can produce and look good when there is ZERO pass rush to speak of. Coincidently the players that are regarded as the best safties in the league are all on teams that have strong pass rushes, it’s a domino effect thats ends with the safties in good and bad scenarios

Brain Fart
would be my guess. I liked Pollard, he was the best safety on this team. I don’t know, it doesn’t make sense. Maybe Pollard was a huge pain in the ass….

He made some mistakes...
but what Chief doesn’t? We seen even without him we give up big plays.
Chiefs Top Five Solo Tackle Leaders:
Demorrio Williams -37 Tackles
Mike Brown -33 Tackles
Mike Vrable -25 Tackles
Corey Mays -24 Tackles
Brandon Flowers -19 Tackles

I think the release of Pollard....
Was the EXACT moment we Chiefs fans started to realize that Pioli may not be as smart as we all thought.
Stupid Management!!!!

That’s a pretty good addition when you sign a guy after the season’s under way and he quickly becomes a player others are looking to follow. Bush was surprised to get such a quality player at such a time.
Is Pollard Ed Reed or Pollamalu? No. He admits that himself. But not everyone can be that guy and none of the guys that replaced him are those guys either.
Thats the thing that bothers me about Pioli. He seems to look at guys and decide they aren’t a pro bowler so he just gets rid of them for whatever he can (same with Tank Tyler), nevermind that there is no one to replace them.
How about we upgrade positions AFTER we find a better player instead of ditching guys and replacing them with run down vets or Patriots practice squad players.

I agree DJ
I think were on the same page with this. I just dont get it, I want to keep a posistive outlook on how Pioli and Haley will do.
The only justification I can think of is Maybe Pioli thought he could upgrade the spot at the end of the year and he just didnt like Pollards attitude. Or maybe he thought his aggresive play would stunt the growth of the younger safeties. IDK it just doesnt make sense.

There are a lot of things with Haley and Pioli that set off red flags for me
I’m really trying to restrain myself because realistically they haven’t had time to really do much, though I give Pioli a bigger pass on it than Haley since Haley has thus far seemed incapable of coaching guys up.
I get that there isn’t much talent on this team, but at some point you have to learn to work with what you’ve got.
I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that Pioli knows what he’s doing and that he’s just thinking at a much higher level than I am, but I had doubts about him when he was hired (think its pretty clear Bellichick is the linchpin of the Pats success) and he hasn’t done a thing to make me feel better about them.
Ah there I go again. Hopefully he’ll make some good moves this offseason to give me some faith in him.

Whitlock is on point
I hate to say it. But Pioli is an egomaniac. I think if we had the same team as last year, we would have more games won this year already. But Pioli and his ego is crushing our team. This makes me so sick, Pollard is flourishing with his team, fucking asshole Pioli. Get your head outta your ass, you clown, and make some moves that actually benefit the team.

I agreer to an extent about the Ego Maniac part...
Hver been on a hot seat but that could change. I have a feeling when that Hot Seat comes, He will start to be very Humble.

The thing is, most guys that get that kind of power ARE egomaniacs
Thats what I never understood about people hating Carl because he was arrogant. Yeah of course he is. Most guys that hand out multi million dollar checks ARE arrogant and have an overly healthy opinion of themselves.
The question is, will Pioli allow his ego to overwhelm sense (like letting go former 2nd round draft picks because theres a nice Patriots practice squad player available) like Peterson did? Or will he humble himself enough to admit that the Patriots aren’t the only succesful franchise in the NFL.
