Around SBN: Randy Moss A Raven?

"Cassel has been particularly effective when he is under center this season, completing 36 of 61 passes (59.0%) for 399 yards with six TDs and no INTs in non-shotgun situations, numbers that translate into a stellar 111.3 rating. "

I would have thought he was more effective from the shotgun...

another GOOD stat:
"Thanks in large part to Cassel, Kansas City’s offense ranks sixth in the NFL with a 64.3 Red Zone TD percentage (9 TDs on 14 Red Zone drives)."

Another suprising stat:

Cassel is 4th on the Chiefs in QB rating behind Croyle, Gutierrez, and Mark Bradley.

I chose not to analyze this stat, simply state it.

Dont put too much into that

Bradley n Guit have only thrown 1 pass, and Croyles thrown 24 to Cassel’s 186…people need to get behind this guy it’s his FIRST year as “the guy”, new coach, new offense, new everything. Can we wait till we get an average C,RG,RT before we start judging this man.

preach on, brother!

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

Its just ridiculous

Its a run-around conversation. Quarterback is the LAST thing they’re gonna evaluate. Just look at it this way for people wanting a “change” at QB. Theres so many other positions or “excuses” to use for the Chiefs as to why Cassel isn’t doing a great job(which, IMO, I think hes done great givin the circumstance of this whole insane season so far), they’re gonna make changes at all those other places before settling on that one.

yep

QB and Head Coach are the easy targets when a team struggles.

But, I think we are getting about what one could reasonably expect from both positions.

Maybe that will silence the Cassel bashers and Croyle backers

its easy to complete a high percentage when you...

dump it off every time you aren’t in the shotgun cause you got no time…

Very misleading.....

“thanks in large part to Cassel…”

Only 14 red zone drives seems like a good case against Cassel. He seems to be neither bad nor great, but irregardless, it’ll be interesting to see which round the Chiefs select a QB next year.

they wont pick one up

cassel is a better guarantee than anyone we can draft. croyle is a very good back up and gut is a nice project.

by Leaf on Nov 4, 2009 7:36 PM CST up reply actions

probably round 4-7....perhaps even #1?

I’m guessing both Croyle and Guti could stay because they cost the Chiefs very few $$$. That being said, Pioli should draft to replace those Patriot rejects.

well...

He’s thrown some GREAT TD passes… and hasn’t turned the ball over in the redzone…

But, yeah, you’d like to see more scoring drives that don’t stall in Chiefs territory.

I agree with Leaf, Cassel is here to stay… and the QB position overall is in good hands.
IF they draft a QB… it’s a long term project kind of guy
