Time to make cuts and trades in off season and everything else
Unless we win all the rest of are games we are washed out of the playoffs and time to make trades and cuts sign some free agents iv made my list and if you don't like it don't comment on it.
Free Agents 2010
Tony Richardson FB Jets : Bring this hall of fame fullback back home for a one year 788K deal nice cheap pickup and with a new offensive and defensive coordinator i hope lets do it.
Jason Avant WR Eagles this team is loaded with receivers hes probably the last guy they wont and we have eagles connections Mark Donavon our Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer.
Alge Crumpler TE Tennessee good blocking tight end big body veteran solid upgrade over are journey men.
Casey Hampton Nose tackle last year in the NFL probably looking for a job at his age.
Jeremy Trueblood RT could fill the void at right tackle and would be a great upgrade over Ryan.
Nick Harper CB he's old so i say one year deal like Richardson and hes still a good corner would like in Tennessee where he was opposite from Cortland Finnegan like him being Flowers.
Cuts/ Resigns
Mike Vrable Cut: its time to let Studebaker shine and let the veteran go.
Derrick Johnson Sign: i think Todd's not playing him because he knows he could sign him to a 4-5 year deal for very cheap and couldn't really do anything but walk lets just see how everything pans out the rest of the season.
Matt Gutierrez sign he played great in Preseason and has never given so I say keep him.
Jarred Page cut: the Jared Page era ends.
Mark Bradley Sign: give him a two year deal then let him walk.
These are just some of the bigger chiefs free agents so yeah I know there's way more.

this is becoming a chronic problem...
you know that right?
A man who says he can, and a man who says he can't are both right. Which one are you?

I love the rec'ing your own article bit...
It will never get old, just like the turtle that beat out Jeff Webb for a roster spot

How about Guppy?
Remember him? He posted about Cowher getting a house in KC.

Looks pretty solid but
Im a little stand-offish about LJ still being in there. A young aggressive guy who wants to be here like LeRon Mclain would be an instant upgrade and cost us less.

Lets just have a yard sale.
We can line up the entire roster in the arrowhead parking lot with draft pick price tags on them. Pioli can run the register and haggle over the price (draft pick) with the other 31 GM’s. Whoever is left at the end of the day we can just haul to the dump. Bring on year 4 of the rebuild!
All losses in the 2009 season will be Herm and Carls fault.

I'm picking up your sarcasm, there Idaho.... :)
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

And I didn't even use the sarcasm font
I just want the players we have to step it up. Tell me they can’t really be that much worse than the players on the winning teams.

I'm with you, idaho
I believe there is enough talent on this team to win several games…
they just have to execute…. which they HAVEN’T done on a consistent basis

the Crumpler is done
I don’t see any value in bringing him in.
Also, I don’t want to draft a RB whose best comparison is to LJ… I think the Chiefs need more of a slasher/receiver style of RB with this offense
I like Studebaker… but I wouldn’t be ready to just hand him the keys… I’d love to see Vrabel stay one more year, and draft a pass rushing phenom to study and develop

Ryan and pope are nothing either so i would take crumple who has like 3000 reciveing yards in his life
and ryan has like 200 yards
Hate Larry Johnson.

meh...
Shannon Sharpe has a ton of receiving yards in his life too… but I’m not thinking he should play for KC next year

What really is pointless is
signing a bunch of 1year deal geriatrics just because they still have some fumes in the tank. Are we really 2 or 3 holes away from the playoffs?

by Idahochief on Nov 4, 2009 8:08 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
pointless?
I was equating one washed up TE to another… seems pretty straightforward.
Anyway, if the Chiefs want to upgrade at TE (and they should)… do it in the draft, or get a Ben Watson kind of receiver…or a young guy like Chase Coffman or Martin Rucker
(yes, I’m a Mizzou alum/fan)

Watson is on my "right 53"
Ever since that guy ran the length of the football field diagnally to strip champ bailey short of the end zone on a guaranteed pick 6, I have respected his effort. If he still has that, sign him up.

wow...kerry maier's comp is jordy nelson?
REALLY?
Nelson was one of the fastest guys at the combine last year. Maier is more suited to be a TE They’re both from Kansas, is that it?

Do you guys think...
Page has any trade value? The guy has been pretty solid for us as a starter the last two years. It sucks that he got injured because it will lower his value. I thought we could have gotten a 3rd round pick for him. Check out this dream scenario and tell me what you think:
Trade Page for a 3rd (remember, dream scenario) and DJ for a 4th after we put tags on them
Sign Wilfork, Dansby and Antonio Bryant (WR, Bucs) or Plan B sign Hampton, Larry Foote and Chris Chambers
Draft
1. Eric Berry (S, Tennessee) – NFL ceiling: Ed Reed
2. Brandon Spikes (ILB, Florida) – NFL ceiling: Bart Scott
2. Eric Norwood (Rush LB, South Carolina) – NFL ceiling: Lamar Woodley
3. Kyle Wilson (PR/CB, Boise State) – Ellis Hobbes
3. Tennant (C, Boston College) – Dan Koppen
4. Sergio Render (G, V Tech) – Shawn Andrews
4. Peek (TE, Alabama) – Jason Dunn
5. Myron Rolle (SS, Florida St) – Samie Knight
5. Jordan Shipley (Slot WR, Texas) – Welker
5. Hardman (OT, E Kentucky) – project, but who knows Matt Light???
Also, we need to get a running back in FA if we part ways with LJ. I don’t see too many power RBs in the draft w/ the exception of Gerhart and Dixon. And we need to resign Ron Edwards for depth at NT. I think this is realistic.
by I_Bleed_Red. on Nov 5, 2009 12:43 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
Actually...
to make it more realistic replace Spikes w/ Norwood and draft O’Dowd w/ the 2nd second rounder. We will probably have to secure Render w/ the 2nd 3rd rounder. The 4th can be used on the power runner Dixon. I’m not that uncomfortable with Mays or Belcher.
by I_Bleed_Red. on Nov 5, 2009 12:50 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I like this a lot.
I think we have our Tackles we just need all new guards, center, and BLOCKING TE. And none of those require high picks so I followed you exactly!
Not sure on the Page trade for a 3rd (we could get something for him but I would keep him as his value will be low since he is on IR)
I would love Wilfork but all reports out of NE is they wont let him go and already workin on his contract.

Money talks but ...
When the talk comes to free agents I have been wondering how many would really want to sign for this team. I realize there is the argument “if the money is right” but a skilled player looking in from the outside might have some questions about how Haley gets along with players (there were players who wanted to play for Marty or Vermeil – is that true for Haley?)… if this team is headed in a positive direction …are there really enough solid players? I think the quality of free agents that would seriously consider the Chiefs is not going to be the quality that we have seen in the past. The more likely situation (IMO) is that players on the downside of their career, troublesome characters, or ones who have failed to live up to potential will be the majority of free agents that will be available to the Chiefs.
by Hank44 on Nov 5, 2009 6:26 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
Well...
if we can get some connections then I think they will sign. Dansby knows Haley from Arizona. Pioli drafted Wilfork. And some WRs that Haley has worked with in the past like Antonio Bryant or Breston.

This is ridiculous
iv made my list and if you don’t like it don’t comment on it.
People can comment on whatever they want, most especially if they don’t like what you have to say. There is where all the healthy debate on this board comes from. How about this? If you don’t want people to disagree with you then don’t state your opinion.
