It's not bad
All change takes some getting used to but from what I can tell a couple things were moved around and the black lines separating the front page from the side bars are gone.

I Like It Except
It doesn’t allow you to put a line between paragraphs. On longer comments that’ll make them appear like one long ramble, which will probably get annoying.

Predictions for 2009
1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.
6. The Chiefs will go 7-9 in 2009, good for 2nd in the AFC West. Revision: We go 5-11 and finish behind Oakland.
7. Ryan Succop will not perform better in 2009 than Connor Barth did in 2008.
8. The Chiefs will have a bottom 10 defense this year.
9. RB will be a problem area this season on offense.

Ah, I see
There’s supposed to be two spaces between it. I see.

Yup
That could get very annoying.

I have to agree
No one wants to read a mass block, breaking things up looks better and reads better for everyone. And let’s not forget there is a reason for paragraphs.
is it me? or isn't about time the Lamar Hunt trophy belonged to His team?

Picking nicks like an amphetamine fueled chimp
I don’t like that they moved the New Story/Fanshot/Fanpost got moved to the right.
The entire “look” of it is just not as classy.
The paragraph thing is going to get annoying fast.

Yea...
I was wondering how the more amateur looking design was approved….specifically the tabs for “home” “fanposts” and such at the top are no longer smooth but jammed together, stark and distorted

Question
So do you guys have any real control over the layout, or is it mostly limited to picking colors/images and so on? As far as the new style goes, I liked the darker sidebars better (right now it just looks like one big swath of white and grey with some red highlights).

Suggestions are welcome
But, no, we can not necessarily say “Put this here” or “Put that there”.

The tech team is pretty freakin' good at what they do
So I trust the moves they make…doesn’t mean it’s free from criticism/suggestions, though :)

Just a note for Joel
Right now the colors are ok, not great but ok. But I did want to ask you that if they do start playing with colors that some of us are color blind to different degrees. My Brother is completely color blind and see’s everything in shades of gray, where as I’m only partially and similar colors tend to blend together. and the wrong color combination can render a page to a mass of color to an instant headache.

That seems to be part of the problem. Tech team is aware.

I’ll turn it off and see if it works.

That is the issue.
I turned it off and everything looks correct. Looks like they just need to put in an open block then place ads in that area.

Firefox
For me is formatting things funny. The AP logo is sitting on top of the Fanshot text, so it’s covering a good amount.
Also the headline font looks pretty eh. I don’t know if it’s because it isn’t bold text, or the font just doesn’t look good to me.
by sayten on Nov 3, 2009 7:41 AM CST reply actions 0 recs

Looks a little cluttered
Looks like they made the info on the right and left sides wider. Takes focuse off the “meat” in the middle of the page to me. I don’t know where to look. I mean I do, but if I was knew I think it would be over load.

I still do not like the paragraph formatting...it looks like a run on paragraph.
I went through some threads and gave up reading through them….(maybe that’s a good thing). ;-)
Bill Parcell’s: "You are what your record says you are."
"My job is not to collect talent, but to build a team. Individuals make the Pro Bowl. Teams win championships. That is our goal."—Chiefs GM Scott Pioli.

OK... more clarification...
I am able to preview first – and then post – IF I use the Post button below the input field. But if I use the Post button that is within the preview itself, that’s when I get an error.
At least I have found a way to be as error-free as Joel! :-)

It looks more clean in some places
And more cluttered in others, like the headlines of articles, the tabs up top, the logo bordering the sections, etc. Could be worse I guess but I definitely looks half-baked to me.

Couple of things...
the font is ugly, and the design looks a bit more childish/amatureish than the previous. Might just be the newness of it, but I won’t warm up to that font.
2nd, I don’t like the changes in design with no added functionality. that’s like Tim Taylor-ing your toaster… It’s not broken, but it needs more power!

I'm with you on both counts
change for the sake of change is pointless if there are no improvements to go along with it. That headline font is my biggest complaint, it looks like a 12 year old’s blog on myspace or some shit.

I guess I could see the design change is there was something inherently wrong or bad with the site to begin with
but that’s not the case here. Nothing was really streamlined I don’t think, for the most part it looks the same to me with a more rudimentary design, which I suppose should speed up the loading because it’s cutting down on bandwidth.
I thnk I need to use it for a day to see if I develop a love/hate relationship with it.

Love it!
I’ll be the lone dissenter (or in this case, lover) but I think it’s great! Cleaner, easier on the eyes. It makes the logo look awkward, but definitely a step in the right direction (and toward what many others on the web are headed toward).

It would be interesting to have the arrowhead pride logo in the background.
This wouldn’t be something bold, but as you scroll down the comments it would be centered in the middle of the screen. The same could be done for each respective sites. (I would prefer an arrowhead but they probably couldn’t do that because of copyright infringements.
by ravenhawk on Nov 3, 2009 2:14 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
They need to make an option where you can view the site the old way
This new look is absolute shit in my opinion. The old look was just more comfortable for me to use. Now it just looks a little less developed than the old version. Certainly NOT what I was expecting with the format change.
