Chargers Up Four Touchdowns on the Chiefs

One disaster after another in today's game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Diego Chargers.

Prior to today's game, the Chiefs had allowed 23 points off turnovers all year.

Today they have allowed 28.

This score is looking awfully familiar to the Chiefs 37-7 loss to the Chargers in Arrowhead earlier this year.

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel is completing a high percentage of his attempts but they're going for short gains resulting in a low yards per attempt average. Cassel has also been part of one interception and one fumble.  Another snap went over his head.

LaDainian Tomlinson has added two of the Chargers five touchdowns.

Jamaal Charles continues to be the story of the Chiefs offense carrying the ball nine times for 74 yards.

Stats can be seen at NFL.com.

offense looks good when it holds on to the ball....

but really, how much bad shit can happen to one team in a day???? Talk about shootin yourself in the foot.

Honestly,

this has been just a bad luck game. I’ve still seen some positive things here. And I know it’s a long shot, but the Chargers scored 28 points in the first half. No reason why the Chiefs can’t put up the same. This offense is clearly improving, and we’ve shown we’re best when we’re opening the offense up. Even if we lose, I think it would be safe to say that we can just pretend like this one never happened. Just one of those things.

why? and play like the Chiefs are good this game?

They aren’t—they play like high schoolers today
They cant block
They cant rust
They cant cover (well the receivers are 6-7" taller) thats ok I guess
They cant tackle
whats good about it?

if we were expecting to lose,

why’d we start off the game by holding them to two three and outs?

YOU SIR are the smartest person ever to walk the planet. You have more football knowledge in your little pinky than the other 10,000 registered users have in all their brains combined.

Now, if we have pandered to your ego enough—-
The point is not if we do or do not know football.
The point is that this is a Chiefs FAN site.
We actually like the Chiefs. THere is nothing wrong with not being “Kool Aid” positive about all things all the time. We’re ok with constructive criticism. We’re even ok with the OCCATIONAL negativity.
But… If all you wanna do is bitch and moan ALL the time….then go away.

You can watch the game and be as pissy and moany as you want WITHOUT having to post your constant negativity into comments here on the boards. Cheer up, the world is not comming to an end. There’s more beer in the fridge, and the Chiefs have a lot of tgame left to make something happen.

It's Okay, Though

We were probably due for a blowout. I think we can rebound for two more wins to finish out the year, though…and that would be okay. Cleveland should be a win. So should Buffalo (although they’re showing signs of life with a new coach and QB). If the Chiefs can pick up two more wins, I think they’ll have met expectations…three more wins then I think they’ll have done better than the talent level on-hand.

I'll say it again,

Cassel is not a bad quarterback. He is a decent quarterback and will be at least moderately successful in this league. BUT he will never be a GREAT quarterback. His football intelligence is severely lacking. He in not a smart enough quarterback to ever be one of the best. You can say what you want about the offensive line, but that safety was all on Cassel.

Usually I just call him an idiot, so hopefully that won’t anger the Cassel apologists as much as normal.

by KCMizzou on Nov 29, 2009 5:38 PM CST reply actions

that safety was all on cassel? i know he intentionally grouded it but the alternative was to just get tackled in the end zone

I disagree with you

Considering where we are this year I think he has a lot of potential. I hope Haley goes out and gets a top notch QB coach. I still think Cassel can take us to the Superbowl. The guy has kept his cool under fire pretty well.

i'm with you man

apparently you don't see the problems

I pay just as much money to see these guys play and on memorobelia as everyone else here so I have a right to be pissed about guys getting paid millions and making stupid mistakes.

by KCCheeze on Nov 29, 2009 5:54 PM CST up reply actions

Oh I see them...

But playing Croyle (who sucks) behind this shitty offensive line will only hurt us and not help us. Croyle isn’t going to be the starter, so why try to win games in the now at the expense of winning them in the future, especially when the season is a loss at this point anyway.

Cassel would look much better if the Chiefs didn’t lead the league in dropped passes. You keep saying that Cassel has poor decision making… OVER AND OVER, but he constantly has people in his face, he is always on his back, and his receivers can’t get open.

This space for rent.

by averagegatsby on Nov 29, 2009 5:59 PM CST up reply actions

Completely disagree...

I think his decision making is fine.. yes he holds the ball too long but he’s had no consistency on offense from poor O-line play to getting used to what seems like new WRs every week. Give this guy a chance. IT’s also his first year going into a season knowing he’s the #1 QB plus its a new system and new staff and new everything.. you can’t judge anything right now.

by golfbard on Nov 29, 2009 5:45 PM CST up reply actions

i'm talking

decision making as in he takes too long to make one. Hell if QB’s had that much time to make decisions in the NFL, almost anyone could do it. When he does, half his throws are bad. The defender jumped 3 feet in the air before Cassel even brought his arm back and cassel decided he would just throw it into him, instead of sidestepping and getting a pass off.

he is not the only problem though, as there is a huge glaring problem at center that gets more obvious every week

by KCCheeze on Nov 29, 2009 5:48 PM CST up reply actions

That's one example

Again when he has time to throw, he’s as shocked as us… we have receivers who don’t get consistent separation, an o-line that doesn’t protect… he’s getting no help around him…

This offense has no rhythm or consistency so hard to fault him too much

true

i agree with all of that, i’m just saying i don’t think he has the tools to take us where we want to go…but thats my opinion i guess

Definitely didn't have the tools

to win 11 games in NE with a little talent around him.

did they make the playoffs?

or superbowl? they should have with the talent they had….. maybe QB play wasn’t as strong as it should have been

by KCCheeze on Nov 29, 2009 5:57 PM CST up reply actions

Cassel started off pretty slow...

by mid season he was rolling a little more. By that point they were in a hole, and lets not forget that the Dolphins totally had their number last year.

Are you refering to the sack in the endzone?

Had no time to throw the ball away and I thought it was a good idea to take your chances getting a grounding call rather than go down in the endzone.

by vincent2668 on Nov 29, 2009 5:40 PM CST up reply actions

I'm not saying

that it was ALL Cassels fault. The majority of it was though. The pressure was CLEARLY coming at Cassel. He was CLEARLY going to get sacked. You have to throw that ball somewhere. He did, but he did it way too late. Here’s a question, have you seen Cassel call an audible all season? Have you seen him point out coverages to the offense once all season?

by KCMizzou on Nov 29, 2009 5:47 PM CST up reply actions

So, o-line

Allowed a safety, and two botched snaps (one for a turnover), as well as constant pressure allowed.

Ugh.

What's the over/under for the shotgun snaps for Niswanger this week?

I’m guessing it’s 5000.

The perfect woman?

Predictions for 2009:

The Chiefs will regret cutting LJ

Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.

The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays

Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for

Chiefs 3-13

D

could have stepped up and nullified some of those points off of turnovers.

where the hell are you?

The only players I hurt with my words are the ones who have an inflated opinion of their ability. I can't worry about that.

Remember what happened after those 07 Pats ran up the score on everyone? Brady went down first game of new season

Dick Enberg should have retired years ago

The worst was the Tyron Brackenridge interception when he yelled out “It’s Ty Lawwww!!!!!!”

But when every play should have been a Charger touchdown, yea, he is pretty much done as an objective announcer. He knows what he means to say, by that’s after the crap has left his mouth.

"The way this works is you string together some good games, some good practices and you get momentum and you gain confidence," linebacker Mike Vrabel said. "It can be a real positive for your team. It builds on itself."

I would expect nohting less from a Raiders fan.

Obviously you do not know quality when you see/hear it. Al Davis has forever ruined you.
