No Score From the Chiefs and Chargers Early

The Chargers started out with the ball inside their own 10 after Darren Sproles muffed the return.  A deep pass to Vincent Jackson was defended by Brandon Flowers and the Chargers eventually punted.

The Chiefs got the ball back and Matt Cassel threw a completed pass to Lance Long and a first down pass to Mike Cox.

Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt trapped the Chargers inside their own 10 again for his NFL leading 30th punt inside the 20.

The Chargers went three and out on their second possession as well.

The Chiefs got the ball back and converted a rare third and long on an 11 yard pass to Bobby Wade.

The score is currently 0-0.

I feel like a broken record

But Cassel needs to not suck most of the game and then play great in the second half. If he was just OK in the first half, we would be soooo much better off.

Predictions for 2009:

The Chiefs will regret cutting LJ

Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.

The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays

Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for

The best way for the offense to set itself for success with lower-risk calls.

If you can HIT on those big scores, the underneath starts opening-up. And if they keep up with the deep shots and KC keeps defending as well or better, they’r’e going to pick off some of those 3rd down punts.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
