Random Thoughts - Thanksgiving Week
Let's all give thanks for more random thoughts!
*The Chiefs can finish the season 7-9 or 8-8. The toughest part of the schedule is over. San Diego and Cincinnati will be the two toughest games remaining. Denver has been sliding BIG TIME. I'm optimistic that we can finish strong!
*Watching Haley smile after a win is a joy. It's a nice contrast to the yelling and scowling we usually see.
*Matt Light is in the final year of his contract. I don't see New England resigning him. If any of this is true, then I see Pioli bringing him in. (If I'm wrong about any of this please correct me)
*I can see the Chiefs drafting a quarterback next year. If they do draft one, the earliest round we will get one is in the sixth. Pioli knows the upside of drafting solid young quarterbacks in the later rounds. Cassel is in no danger of losing his starting job anytime this year (or next year), but it wouldn't hurt the Chiefs to have someone waiting in the wings in case he goes down. Brodie Croyle will be gone next year, and it would just be cheaper to draft a late-round QB. I know Cassel is our $60M man but keep this in mind: Drew Bledsoe was traded to Buffalo from New England a year after he signed his fat contract extension (it was worth over $100M). Fat contracts don't guarantee anything.
*If the Chiefs finish the season strong, then they should get at least one MNF game next year. The Raiders and the Browns both played a Monday night game this year - and they're terrible. Why not us?
Well I'm done with this post. Give me your opinions on this.Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I thought the same thing about Matt Light
They have some young beast named Volmer or something playing LT that they seem to like.
Drew Bledsoe signed a $100M contract? I’d have to see it to believe it.

But we cannot spare the picks.

Yeah
We don’t even have a 6th or a 7th round picks and the 5th round is a good place to stockpile interior linemen.
We don’t have the luxury of taking a flyer on a QB

Thanks woodman I forgot about that
But given Pioli’s nature, I could see him trying to trade for some late round picks too. He did that last year.
I’m afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will, so now I’m afraid I have something of a mess on my hands. -Arrested Development
When we blitz, have the LB's do a KC Strip. Do this in rememberance of DT.
Kudos to you Woodman
For the way that you handled yourself over at BFTB site, very well said. Did you see that they shut down the comments on that thread?
I saw that, lol...
I was hoping I wouldnt make any of them mad but I had to defend us here at least a little bit.

My thanksgiving thought
we are going to kick some bolt a$$ this week! Go Chiefs!
Good move by the Chiefs org, glad to see LJ gone.
Matt Light or Vince Wilfork would be epic off-season acquisitions
I think I’d rather re-sign Croyle than drafting a QB in late rounds though.

+1
It won’t cost much to resign Croyle. His experience in Haley’s offense should be enough to keep him around…Besides the fact that he is a very good young QB and the Chiefs could use him.
Also agree about Light and Wilfork. I doubt we would get both of them but, one of those guys isn’t out of the question.

I hope they cut him.
He’s not “a very good young QB”, not even close.
It’s the same discussion APers have had about LJ over and over. They both suck, and the sooner we jetteson them from the squad, the sooner we can stop discussing them and move on with someone that actually has some future potential.

I think if Wilfork isn't out there...Hampton will be...
Steelers don’t usually re-sign over 30…so history suggests he will be available. He could be good for a few years…

yeah...
I would feel pretty good about getting a FA at Nose Tackle before the draft…
I’d be very nervous about depending on a rookie to start on the DL again
Wilfork would be amazing, but there are other options out there as well
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers
We have more immediate needs elsewhere
I don’t see us going after a QB at all in the upcoming draft. Even if Croyle were to leave, I could see a possible upgrade through FA, but we already have a good young prospect in Matt Gutierrez. I’d be anxious to see what he can do with some time under this offense.
Im happy with last sundays result, but part of me still feels like its could’ve been a fluke, I mean come on, defending sb champs vs. us[uhhh… :*) not defending sb champs]. If we get the win in sd this week, man, gonna get my ’ole chiefs swagger back. YEEEAH!

I totally agree.. Arrowhead @ night w/ the lights… Havn’t seen that in a while…
Things I have learned from Arrowhead Pride...
1.) A turtle can win a WR spot in preseason
2.) Everybody loves Kool-Aid
3.) Ochocinco is now not the only player to be referred to by his # (2.7)
4.) Its okay to cry because Vermeil does
5.) You (still) play to win the game
And no matter what CHIEF fans are the greatest!
Denver
I’m not so sure about your assessment of Denver. They are stuffed with talent and I get the feeling they are one of those on/off teams. They are either “on” and whoop the other team’s ass (NY last night) or they are “off” and get their asses handed to them (San Diego a week earlier). Home field has a lot to do with it I think, so we might halve those two games.
Blame my wife!
Waiting until August 2010
