Chiefs Scouting Director Heads to Miami, South Florida Game

Any South Florida fans out there?

Kansas City Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery will attend the Miami vs. South Florida game in Tampa this weekend, Chris Steuber of Scout.com reports.

There are a few NFL caliber players in this game.  Here are a few of the highlights that might interest the Chiefs:

Star-divide

South Florida

FS Nate Allen: 6'1", 206 pounds projected to go in the 2-3 round range.

DE George Selvie: 6'4", 245 pounds projected to go in the second round.

CB Jerome Murphy: 6'1", 185 pounds projected to go in the 3-4 round range.

DE Jason Pierre Paul: 6'6", 260 pounds projected to go in the second round

Miami

LT Jason Fox: 6'7", 314 pounds projected to go in the second round

***

I imagine both those defensive ends would be turned into outside linebackers if the Chiefs are checkin' them out.  FS Nate Allen being highly rated is also interesting.  The Chiefs hold two picks in the second round and there seems to be some second round talent here.

As always, some of you that know the draft better than me, chime in and let us know who I missed.

The Chiefs scouts are traveling elsewhere this weekend, as well. Chris will get you caught up in the morning.

i wouldn't watch it if i were you.

the chances of the chiefs beating the defending SB champs aren’t very good. you’re liable to have your heart broken. :p

UCrawford will eventually calm down and realize that Haley isn't a bad coach.
Will embrace the Fire Haley Bandwagon if we lose to the raiders by more then a TD...
..But we aren't going to lose.
LJ will not land in Pittsburgh
The Chiefs will not be the number one pick in this years draft
The Chiefs first pick of the draft will NOT be a OL
Thinks UCrawford just needs a hug... offer is there when you are ready UC :p

hey,

don’t play into this guys delusions. it will only make it worse when they lose :p

The best prospect missing looks like

Darryl Sharpton 5-11 235 ILB Sr Miami 4.58 4-5 round

also might be considered:

Jason Fox 6-6 302 OT Sr Miami 5.08 4-5 round

by Kane on Nov 24, 2009 7:17 PM CST reply actions

Fox is on the list...

but likely a 2nd rounder

He’d look good in a Chiefs uniform, IMO

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers

def

Grew up in missouri, life long chiefs fan (I’m only 28) and I live in south florida now. if we are considering moving albert to the lg, then fox would be a great pick.

yeah, I think that'd be great value...

IF Albert is to be moved… which I’m not sure he will be.

I think Albert is only moved IF Waters isn’t back next year… and I believe he will be back

Sharpton

4.68 40. Not bad for an ILB, kinda short. Yeah, Fox moved up since I made my Db.

by Kane on Nov 24, 2009 7:23 PM CST up reply actions

Nate Allen

Watch out for this guy

IF the Chiefs can’t land Eric Berry… I say this guy would be an amazing pick in the 2nd round

Oh yeah

Pioli read my mock draft and sent the scouts out the door immediately. I am glad Pioli thinks highly of my opinions….I hope we can grab Allen…..IF we dont land Berry.

McClain, Fox, Allen...then a Center

sounds pretty good to me.

OR, take Mt Cody instead of Fox, if they pickup some FA OL

ideally...

McClain, Fox, Allen, Tennant (or whatever Center Pioli likes best)…

Grab Wilfork and maybe another OL and LB in FA…

That’d make me happy… IF Berry can’t be taken, of course :)

McClain

Best LB prospect out there right now, IMO. I wouldn’t ask him to be a pass-rush specialist, but he’s good at pressuring the QB, and terrific at almost everything else.

by burntorangehorn on Nov 24, 2009 9:15 PM CST up reply actions

I'm thinking that's who they've got their eye on

If no Berry try to trade down then come back in the second round and grab Allen. He would definitely help our coverage woes……..

The defensive coordinator for Miami is my customer.

This oughta be good. I’m gonna plug him for information.

by krayfish on Nov 24, 2009 8:17 PM CST reply actions

Others:

Orlando Franklin, an enormous OG for Miami. Might have problems adjusting at his size. That’s how big he is.

Allen Bailey, DE for Miami.

Javarris “Yes, I’m Edgerrin’s Little Brother” James and Graig Cooper, RBs for Miami.

Selvie’s the best of the USF and Miami crowd, IMO.

by burntorangehorn on Nov 24, 2009 9:26 PM CST reply actions

fyi

JPP is on USF. He’s a JUCO guy in his first year. He has freaky measurables, but hasn’t been super productive.

Head’s up on Miami tight end Jimmy Graham. He’s a senior. It’s his first year playing college football and his first playing the sport since ninth grade. He was on the basketball team. He’s 6’8, 260 pounds. Runs pretty fast, can block OK, good hands. I’m going to have more on him this week.

USF, you mean

And I think he was cut.

UCF has some decent prospects, though. I think O’Leary’s doing a fairly decent job, and that his program is about ready to push for Big East membership.

I miss Taurus...

I have no idea why, but I liked that guy.

I think he tried out with Detroit, but he’s still out there as a FA now
