Get over it. He will miss a tackle and also have the ball thrown over his head before he’s done….hang in there.

Yup and he had a pass interference call tonight...

Yeah, because KC’s safeties are perfect?
by T-Rich on Nov 24, 2009 12:08 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Nope and no one has said anything about anyone being perfect...
Yet our Safeties played a better game than Pollard did on Monday against a better team.
by ravenhawk on Nov 24, 2009 2:15 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Really, how so? Because KC won and Houston lost? Not indicative of how good a player did.
by T-Rich on Nov 25, 2009 2:08 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
You obviously didn't watch the game...
Houston’s safeties didn’t play a good game against Tennesee. That is in no way saying that they have been playing consistently better this season than the Chiefs. Just this game we had better play at the safety position.

I wish Pollard well.
Babb? Not so much……..

Gunther Cunningham’s defense (not for the Chiefs) holds the Browns to 37 points.

Are there 11, or 1 players on a defense?

Another big play
and how many has he given up? Is he talented? Yes. Was he coachable? KC coach apparently didn’t think so. He can make big plays, but he misses a lot more. He blows coverage and goes for the big hits and misses instead of just taking guys down. I hated the cut when it first happened, but so far the Chiefs seem to be doing alright and in the long run, I think it will improve the team without him taking playing time away from others.

hmmm...
He blows coverage and goes for the big hits and misses instead of just taking guys down.
reminds me of someone else we used to have at safety….
I won’t say his name, but his initials were Greg Wesley

It was an okay play
At least IMO. Sure he got his hand in around on the reach, but I’m not convinced he wasn’t already doing an early check with his other hand.

Pollard is having a heck of a game
Personally, I didn’t like to see him go, but I do trust Haley and Pioli. I was really glad to see LJ go.
As a side note, Saturday night I killed a huge buck. I remarked to my brother – “Now the only thing that could make this weekend any better is if the Chiefs beat the Steelers tomorrow, but that’ll never happen.” LOL

for the carcass to make sure this weekend wasn’t a dream?

Heh, get this
Hung it in the barn Saturday night to decide whether or not to get it mounted, drink a shitload of beer and half-ass-drunken-score it. Anyhow, we caped it (cut its head off with neckskin intact) and I took it to the taxidermist.
The kicker is, I propped the deer head up in my passenger seat on top of a garbage bag full of clothes and strapped it in with the seat belt.
It was either that or bungee-ing the whole damn thing on the hood.

How huge is huge?
I shot a nice whitetail last week up here in SK. Looks like it will gross around 170 typical.
by saskwatch on Nov 23, 2009 10:16 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Huge for me, not near 170 though.
We’re thinking 140ish. First deer for me, been hunting since high school, missed a few years in the 1990’s.

Nothing wrong with that for you first buck.
We are pretty spoiled up here. I hunt hard in the fall. If you put in the time you have a chance to be very successful.

Just got the score...
…came out to be 150 7/8 typical.

That's pretty much how I feel
I liked Pollard but if Pioli/Haley felt he wasn’t a fit for what they want to do, I’m going to trust their decision. I’m not saying they can’t be wrong because no one gets every decision right, but I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
It’s always tough to see a player leave your team and go on to play well elsewhere, but there’s no way of knowing if they would ever be that player if they stayed. Sometimes a player just needs a change of scenery, a scheme that suits them better, etc.

I like to root for 'em wherever they go.
But after jumping on the hate bandwagon, I found myself hoping he’d fuck up. Not proud of myself. He really does seem to be doing Houston’s D some good.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

A friend of mine found a $20 bill while walking his dog Sunday ...
And I said, “Now, if only the Chiefs could find a way to pull out a win today.”
All in all, I’d say it was a pretty solid weekend.

i saw a few
plays he made. but….i also saw him beating his chest and talking trash to vince young after he made a tackle on him on 3rd down. vince looked at him like…chill out dude. prob why our staff didnt want him in the locker room…

Yeah, I hate it when guys pump their team up after making a big play
Whats wrong with showing emotion when you do something good for your team?
Its not like Sammie Parker jumping up and down after catching a 2 yd pass.

I like high fives, celebration etc, but really, the merriman lights out, or seau stuff after EVERY 2 yard loss gets a bit tiresome. and tauntingish.

i didnt see
any of his teammates anywhere near him. just he, alone by the sideline talking trash and beating his chest, and drawing attention to himself. sorry, just dont care for that sorta thing and i wonder if that is a pattern, and a possible reason why haley didnt want him.
on a more positive note…i AM glad he is doing well with his new team.

It was kind of a lame celebration
Both Vince and Johnson were running all over Pollard and the rest of the defense. It was like the guy who spikes the ball after a touchdown to pull within 30pts. in the 4th quarter.
by burntorangehorn on Nov 23, 2009 11:12 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
It was a 3rd down stop when the game was tied. Not the same as scoring a TD down 30 in the 4th quarter.

Kent Babb
Well, heres my thoughts on pollard. I liked pollard a LOT, I was a big fan, but…reading what has been said about bernard…and how he was in the locker room…just read the lastest babb tweets…says it all…
good for him to move on and succeed….but I dont lose any sleep over it, our safeties arent great, but BP was NOT a fit for this team
by SDChief on Nov 23, 2009 10:50 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Like I said before...
When Pollard was released he passed through waivers (with a decent contract) and then sat on his couch for a month. What does that tell you? That 32 GM’s thought the same thing as Pioli, that the guy was not worth it. Only his former DB coach was willing to give him a shot.
So I don’t blame Pioli and the (lack of) response by the other GMs validates his decision.

I hope your right but i dont think he will be available when we pick
by Ren on Nov 24, 2009 12:53 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Not singling you out, but everyone seems to either
- think our pick is too high for a safety, or
- he won’t be on the board when our turn comes.
Maybe, like Baby Bear’s porridge, he’ll be there, we take him, and it all works out just right.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

I'd rather...
….get some badass offensive linemen with our prime picks. O-line with a future. Our defense has a good young core, IMO. Our special teams are set. The glaring weakness now is the offensive line, the same attribute that made the late 1990’s early 2000’s possible, IMO. I still can’t believe they let Tate go. Christ.
by BeefOnBunWithFries on Nov 24, 2009 1:36 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
I'd love a top lineman
But I only like Okung at this point. I did a little run-down of the guys I considered top-ten picks, and Okung was the only OL I even considered putting in that group. Here’s what I put:
Underclassmen besides Berry to consider:
Carlos Dunlap. Sure, KC has Tyson Jackson, but Carlos Dunlap is a whole lot closer to what Jackson’s supposed to be than Jackson will ever be.
Gerald McCoy. Obvious.
Rolando McClain
Any of those three, plus Berry, Okung, and Suh, look like strong considerations to fill the top six picks. There will always be big risers who jump into the mix, so I’m obviously not stating those six should be the top six, but I think they all look like legitimate top-ten guys. I don’t think any QB looks like a top-ten guy this year though (betting someone reaches for Bradford in that range, for lack of other options), so it’s good that KC doesn’t need to draft one early.
Some guys with top-ten talent who have issues to overcome in order to get there include Cody (questionable conditioning and motor), Mays (dropoff in play), Spikes (eye-gouger), Ricky Sapp (consistency and size), and Dez Bryant (NCAA lying).
There are some seniors there too, like Okung, who IMO comprises the entirety of the first-tier offensive tackles at this point. The second tier is probably Charles Brown, Ciron Black, Anthony Davis (junior), and Brian Bulaga (junior), any of whom could solidify his place in the first round with good post-season performances. But I really don’t expect any of those second-tier guys to be a serious consideration for the top ten right now, and I definitely don’t think Trent Williams belongs there.

I'm going with #2
He won’t be around when we pick.
by Ren on Nov 24, 2009 10:51 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
If we got a safety with our first pick, it should only be Taylor Mays. That said, even in spite of our O-line woes (which can be solved via free agency), we need a true NT, and that should be our first pick in the draft.
by Topchief1 on Nov 24, 2009 5:50 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Disagree
I think the consensus is Berry > Mays. As for Okung, I think he is overrated and will fall on draft boards once we get closer to the Draft. Carlos Dunlap has good stats, but I have seen him give up on a lot of plays — we want guys with relentless motors.
Brandon Spikes seems like a guy that would fit in this defense, but it all depends on where we pick. I like Dez Bryant as well, but with Chambers stepping it up maybe we are good at WR. As for O-Line…I grade Ciron Black the highest out of all of them so far.

….I root for all ex Chiefs, even LJ because he is not a KC problem anymore—but especially I pull for TG and Jared.
