Wow. This win is just about 24 hours old and I'm still in awe. Prior to the weekend I had posted that we needed to play a perfect game to beat this team, and that I didn't care if we lost just as long as we hung in there for most of the game. Well, wasn't I rudely awakened...or should I say, nicely awakened because in reality, this was a nice win. I could even say we were rudely Andy Studenbakened! How bout it for that kid.A day later and a 2 GAME WIN STREAK brewin' up- what a dub this was for the growth of this team, and what better way to get a big win like that than in OUR house in front of our Arrowhead crowd which was salt, peppered, garlic powdered, hot sauced, basically topped any and every which way you want with terrible towels. To be the only Chiefs fan in a New Jersey bar mostly catering to Jets, Giants, and Steelers fans felt pretty damn good for the first time in a long time.
With all that said, I think the most precious part of yesterdays win was the timing and execution of the newborn play that Haley gave birth to over the weekend after seeing Pittsburgh's goal line defense in tape. It wasn't just the fact Haley saw a weak spot in their defense and decided to showcase a new wrinkle in his play calling...any coach can do that, it's called game-planning. Now it might not always work, but that's all on the coach and his staff. I just think the fact Haley calling that play in one of the most crucial game-changing moments of yesterday's chess match and the fact it was executed and worked to perfection just speaks wonders about the offense.
My next favorite part of yesterday's game: Mike Cox going to hug Todd Haley after the win, and Haley either doing one of two things-
A) Pushing him away because he doesn't want to celebrate the win yet before he shakes Mike Tomlins hand.
B) Was completely in the moment because he realized we had just beaten the Steelers and didn't expect anyone to run up on him ready to celebrate and was suddenly scared.
C) Was completely in the moment because he realized we had just beaten the Steelers and didn't expect anyone to run up on him ready to celebrate and was suddenly scared.
Either way, we beat the Steelers and it feels good. Now let's get ready for the Chargers and do our best to beat them.
And for the record, I love that picture of Flowers...and oh yeah I love the Chiefs, I love winning, I love food and I love AP.
Oh, and before I forget, here's my caption this.
Brandon Flowers: I'M THE MAAAAAAAAAAN!
DaJuan Morgan and Maurice Leggett: YOU CERTAINLY ARE! NOW WE'RE GONNA SQUIRT GATORADE ON YOU TO SYMBOLIZE HOW HAPPY WE ARE!
