"There needs to be limitations in the offseason with respect to the type of work, and how much work, is done. Teams will definitely have sufficient time to get their offense and defense in," Goodell said. "Should maybe rookies and first-year players have more time in training camp? That's something Norv Turner mentioned this week. It's something that needs a lot of dialogue, and that's one of the things the player forums will look into.''

Roger Goodell on NFL Offseason Could have an impact on Todd Haley-like off-season plans.

ZOMG?!?!?!?!

How can we expect these guys making millions of dollars (at the very least hundreds of thousands) to work for a whole year? I mean, what is this, communist China? How can they be expected to eat right and stay fit on their own? The taxpayers should provide them with personal trainers year ’round.

This isn't a "kum-bye-yah" campfire! THIS IS FOOTBALL!

I agree that physical contact should be limited in the off-season but it already is. The off-season is the time to put in extra time watching film, studying the playbook, and increasing strength and conditioning.

Even the players of the teams that go to the Super Bowl get 3 months off. That seems like plenty to me.

Just because Norv Turner is a bad coach...

…doesn’t mean the rest of the league has to suffer.

We seem to be in agreement, gentlemen.

ace328: You mentioned the one thing I would’ve touched on, if nobody else did. Limit the hitting, but physical conditioning and the mental part of the game should all be fair game.

I think the conditioning we saw this offseason is paying dividends. Chiefs seem a lot less banged-up and worn down. It appears Haley built them up. I was worried about them breaking down from all the running, especially the big men. But I think Haley did it right, and availed himself of the best experts.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
