Congratulations Chiefs fans! (seriously)

You guys really, really deserve this win. We played a horrible 4th quarter, and Cassel played lights out in the 4th. There's nothing to be said, or excuses to be made. We hung ourselves out to dry when we needed to close the game. Your team did just the opposite. We beat you in every aspect of the game, except when/where it counted. The best team in crunch time won. Penalties DESTROYED us, as well as bad decisions (like Wallace trying for more yards on that strip/fumble). The Chiefs played a smart game. Seriously? 2 friggin' penalties??? I have wet dreams about having 2 penalty games from my team. How the hell did Cassel keep popping up like a friggin' jack in the box after every hit he took? Kid's tough.

Oh yeah, thanks for (maybe) playing spoiler for us today, was awesome of you...(grumble). Also, thanks for taking out Ben. Good strategy though, gotta hand it to your D...Just kidding. Let me vent a little bit, ok? :)

thanks

You stay classy Pittsburgh

UCrawford will eventually calm down and realize that Haley isn't a bad coach.
Will embrace the Fire Haley Bandwagon if we lose to the raiders by more then a TD...
..But we aren't going to lose.
LJ will not land in Pittsburgh
The Chiefs will not be the number one pick in this years draft
The Chiefs first pick of the draft will NOT be a OL
Thinks UCrawford just needs a hug... offer is there when you are ready UC :p

Haha, Thanks man.

Not alot of people thought we could win today, but we stuck it out and showed heart. We got it together in the 2nd half (something we could never do) and we actually pulled out a win. Big win for us and thanks again.

I totally respect the steelers.

It was a great all around game. However, Hines Ward is classless. The Tomahawk Chop celebration when he scored is why the steelers completely deserved that loss. Respect is an important aspect of the game, and Ward showed he has very little of it.

Not a clue

Haven’t heard anything at all. I’m thinking he just got his bell rung, though, since they didn’t take him down to the training room.

Appreciate it Steel.

Always good to see good sports amongst the opposing fans. I’d be hard pressed to do what you did. Mostly would just be quiet I think

You'll be better with Troy back

Thanks though, this was the game of the year for us- I thought we were going to blow it when it was 17-17. This is the kind of game I would have been happy with even if we lost in OT

Raiders did there part too, good luck against Balt!

(Raiders game 1 should be listed here, 409 yds off, we let them off the hook)
(Cowboy's should be listed here - They are who we thought they were)

Thanks yo! I hope Big Ben is alright. That hit to the head was pretty bad.

I enjoyed watching him move around with Chiefs sliding off, jumping past him, and getting pulled around the field trying to tackle him. He’s a stud.

It evens out…We gave you Keyaron Fox, who won your game a few weeks back, and we get a tough, ugly win. And don’t take it the wrong way when I say, I don’t look forward to playing you all again any time soon.

It was a great game for chiefs fans. The bottom feeders of the AFC West provided a push for the top dogs of the AFC North. How about we knock off the bungles for you as a show of thanks.

From Marty to Vermiel we had a good run and were approaching your guys level of fan commitment but you have been the standard for 40 years. I like that our owner Clark Hunt says that the Steelers are the program we want to emulate. Good luck down the stretch.

Ive been saying all year...

well maybe not all year… That despite this team being awful, they have played pretty disciplined football. I knew we didn’t have many penalties, but I didn’t realize 2.

This space for rent.

Well

it was 2 or 3, I know you only had 1 until the 4th quarter, and I think they had one or two more…we had 8 or 9 for a bunch of yards…icky…

Very classy move!

I want to ask your opinion of Ward’s mock tomahawk chop? Do you think that could have been viewed as taunting? Did you think it was a tad over the top?

Honestly, it reminded me somewhat of what T. Owens has done in the past, but Ward isn’t known for being as obvious and obnoxious as Owens.

by SupremeChief on Nov 22, 2009 7:23 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah..

I thought that was as classless as someone doing another players “signature” celebration move. He was happy, but celebrate your own way, man…

I think everyone on AP is in agreement.

Ward is a solid player and has every right to be cocky. I just felt that celebration was a bit too much.

On the other hand, the remainder of the game was more than respectable. I was extremely impressed with the Steelers. They moved the ball effortlessly at times and presented a real challenge.

I hope you make the playoffs and contend for another SB. There is no doubt the Steelers are one of the better teams in football.

and i will say it for everyone here at AP you are welcome here. I would have went to the steel curtain and said the same thing. Keep it up brother your team is better than today and because of your actions if they make it to the playoffs i’ll be on your side.

You didn't see the post game Celebration?

I think they actually had a podium in the middle of the field to hand out post-game awards! ;)

Seriously though, it was a huge win for the Chiefs new regime, it really did feel like a playoff victory when you consider just how bad the team’s decline has been over the past 5 seasons.

Anyway, all the best to Pittsburgh…you guys really are the ‘model franchise’ of the NFL, really hope you guys will overtake the Bungles before the season is over.

Predictions:

Kansas City will not win more than four games in 2009
Kansas City will have a new OC and DC in 2010

I think we are more humbled after this win than anything. All of us certainly know..

we are a few years removed from being competitive, but beating the best team in football, even in a close game, has really opened our eyes and has given us hope for the future.

So, if you see any Chiefs fan gloating or being cocky..apologies in advance. Sore winners are just as shameful as sore losers.

after the behavior of the steelers fans at the game today shouldn’t be any apologies needed they have it coming

and i have a feeling that the steelers showed up as arrogant as there fans which could go a long way towards why the chiefs won

Thx, SteelFever.

In his post-game, Haley was gushing about how the Rooneys run the Steelers organization, and how KC is striving toward a similar model. Coach Haley’s respect for the Steelers dates back to childhood, but the respect he has NOW is as a man who really appreciates their recipe for perennial success.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

by hmills110 on Nov 22, 2009 9:10 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Sure!

I don’t know what to think bout Haley’s fan-boyism… If he were such a big fan, shouldn’t he have wanted to work with us? If he is absolutely truthful, I apologize, but it sounds to me like he’s paying lip service, alluding to all the hype this has gotten over the past week.

His dad's bio should tell you all you need to know...it's not like the Steelers are hiring all that often
George Richard Haley, Jr. (born October 2, 1937 in Midway, Pennsylvania) is a former American football cornerback in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played college football at the University of Pittsburgh and was drafted in the ninth round of the 1959 NFL Draft.
He is currently a Player Personnel analyst for the Miami Dolphins.1 He was Director of Player Personnel for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1971–1990 as well as the New York Jets from 1991–2002.1 Haley is frequently credited with selecting the Steelers’ renowned 1974 NFL Draft class which included four future inductees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.1 The rookies—Lynn Swann, Jack Lambert, John Stallworth, and Mike Webster—would help lead the team to Super Bowl IX and three more Super Bowl championships by the end of the decade.12
He is the father of Todd Haley, the current head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.1

Na, he's stated several times in the past his admiration of the Steelers

I remember reading a while ago how Cowher offered him a job several years ago & he was so elated to be going back to Pittsburgh…but then Parcels offered him a better job with Dallas & he ended up taking that one because of his loyalty to Parcells. He said it was a tough decision because he’d end up working for the ‘hated Cowboys’.

I hope the rest of your season goes well now that you have a very good talent in the backfield. Also, everyone have a happy thanksgiving, drink some beer and eat some turkey.

I'd just like to point out....

Larry “the fucktard” Johnson is now a member of the Cincinnati Bengals.
You Steelers fans are gonna LOVE that.
Aside from only picking up 2.7 a carry, and setting an all time low in the NFL this year Larry WILL tear the Bengals locker room to shreads.
It’s only a matter of time before he starts berating his coach and team. (Just ask Dick Vermeil, Herm Edwards, and Todd Haley) It’s not an “if”, it’s a when. The bengals locker room will soon be divided into the pro-larry and anti-larry factions that he always manages to achieve; and the media will soon be writing stories about how Larry’s attitude has not changed one bit since getting his ass thrown out of KC.

Here’s to hoping they fall apart fast enough for the Steelers to out-win them down the stretch and take the division Clinks Champagne Glass.

Thanks Steel

It’s nice to see fan sportsmanship alive and well in today’s game. Too many times all we hear about is the trash talking, highlight grabbing, Me first mentality. It’s nice to have two teams go out play their game and to have both sets of fans not have to hold the win over the others head, or have the non winning team’s fans slam the others because of perceived in justices.

But I have to ask if your still reading this post…What happened to Batch? We just heard that He is out for weeks, I didn’t see anything that I thought the Chiefs did to injure Him (accidentally of course). I’m sure Big Ben will be back unless He has further problems and we hope that is not the case. Batch being injured was a complete surprise though, if you can let us know we would be interested. Again thank you.

is it me? or isn't about time the Lamar Hunt trophy belonged to His team?

This Chiefs team is closer to a new expansion team than it is a playoff contender, your expectations should match that.
