Best defensive effort of the year!
Forget about the score, and passing yards allowed. This defensive effort may have been one of our biggest efforts in the past few years. The way the D lined up and attacked Pittsburgh reminded me of years gone by. I know the Pittsburgh line was banged up, but we finally kept sending everyone. Derrick Johnson made plays. Did you see him jump over Mendenhall, and hold onto Big Ben? Magee, Dorsey, and TJ took up blockers. We brought it. Big Ben was feeling it before he hit DJ's knee.
After watching Hines Ward do the chop after his TD, I wanted to see how the Chiefs protected their house. In my mind, they responded with their best game of the year. All of this without LJ and DBowe.
Again, incredible effort. Pittsburgh had some key possessions late in the fourth, and in OT, and we, the D stopped 'em!

515 Total Yards given up
I don’t know we should be real happy about that.
They’ve got to learn how to close the deal on their pass rush and actually sack the QB.

We had decent pass rush today.
It wasnt great but we also got to Ben alot of times. Its not only us who cant sack him either…almost every team in the league has trouble bringing him down.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the new rules.
Pretty much can’t hit them in the legs or from the shoulders up. Pretty much have the aim for the numbers, and he’s too solid for that.

BB would be a lion among jackals in any era since the NFL began.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

Well...
It was Ben…he is the toughest to sack in the league (as an individual…not his O-Line..)
But, i gotta agree…We gave up way too many yards…

so done with crappy kcstar neg history on games…

don't care
about the yards…we did not let them go down the field at the end, when it counted.

Derrick Johnson
was a trainwreck today, he had one nullified play, I can think of at least 3 missed tackles, and at least twice where he over pursued the play
This space for rent.

he did blow some plays
but he did step up for a couple of key plays. he still seems to yo-yo. for the record i want him to do well.

Wouldn't say train wreck, but he did miss several plays.
Easy to remember the good ones, but not covering the back on the TD was a big one as well. He blew a few assignments which kind of amplified why he hasn’t been playing. He shows up some of the time, but not always. He would be awesome if he was in the game, mentally, all the time.
I remember Dawson to Taylor, Kenney to Carson, and Blackledge catching the snap in his facemask. Seen it all...

good thing tv announcers ptd it out for ya…
dj had a LOT more plus plays than neg play today… like always

Is this a joke? DJ played like shit besides a couple plays. It was easy to see. People like you look for any reason to blame on the coaches. DJ was a starter for two years and played the exact same way. He has always shown up on some plays but is out of place or misses tackles on a dozen more. It has nothing to do with not starting. Give me a break.

hmm...
makes me wonder why so many of our other LB’s have come in and developed pretty well but dj is still the same old yo yo dj.

Yup. At some point, you start thinking maybe this guy's failure to develop isn't coach's fault.

The D got the stops when they needed them
Best defensive effort of the year is a pretty low bar in all honesty. This was more or less the Dallas game defensively without the big TDs to lose.
Predictions for 2009:
The Chiefs will regret cutting LJ
Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.
The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays
Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for
Chiefs 3-13

How about. . .
Mr. 2.7 today. That would be 2.5 yards a carry. HaHaHa LJ you suck.

He made a great impression on me.
And I was saying I expected him to be gettin’ major minutes at this point of the season, and now #71 seems to ALways be on the field.
Was it just me, or was Dorsey playing some NT there at the end? Not quite sure WHAT that D was they were runnin’ a lot of later on, but I really liked it. :o)
