Sounds like the settings might be set for external speakers, and without them it was telling you to plug some in. Go through all of your audio settings to see if there’s is something like that. Your internal speakers should have worked other wise.
is it me? or isn't about time the Lamar Hunt trophy belonged to His team?
This Chiefs team is closer to a new expansion team than it is a playoff contender, your expectations should match that.
Also try the device manager
to do that just right click the “my computer” in the start menu and go to manage. Look for a yellow exclamation point, if there is, there is usually some troubleshooting available

Sounds like you need a driver for your sound card or you just have your sound muted.
If your sound is muted, right click the sound icon and go to volume mixer. Check if any mute box is checked.
If it isn’t something simple like that….
Go to the HP support website then type your model number in. A list of drivers should pop up, find the sound one, install it, and reboot. If you got the correct driver your sound should start working again.
Could need to download the drivers again
off of the HP website

It sounds like you're running an ....
… older HP laptop. Maybe a HP Pavilian 2xxx series?
If so, Windows automatic Updater will want to install the newer SDIF High Definition audio device drivers.
If you use windows update you need to say NO every time it tries to install those.
Uninstall your sound card drivers, or diable them, and then go to HP’s website and get the old ones.
Install the older drivers and then reboot. — That should fix your problem.
If yer running Vista or Windows 7 you can also just choose to use the old drivers as the default driver, and then it wont matter what gets updated (as it doesnt delete your old ones, just disables them)
Hope that helps
