Open Thread: Kansas City Chiefs v. Pittsburgh Steelers
When: Noon Central time
Where: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO
Steelers on SBN: Behind the Steel Curtain
NFL TV Maps: Week 11
Complete coverage of this game on AP is here.
Make no bones about it - The Chiefs have a tough game ahead of them today against the Steelers.
Jamaal Charles and Kolby Smith will get probably the biggest test of their young careers against the NFL's #1 ranked run defense. The Chiefs secondary has been torched quite a bit this season - Will it happen this week?
Alright, I'm ready for this game to start. Even though I could never in good conscience put money down on a prediction like this, I like the Chiefs to win in a close game - 20 to 17.
Get your predictions in before the game starts. Joel is back in the press box this week so make sure you tweet him any questions you may have at @ArrowheadPride.
GOOOOOOOOOOOO CHIEFS!!!!

Chiefs best game of the year...
Cassell – 290 pass yrds, 2 TD
Charles – 110 rush yrds, 1TD
Chamber – 90 pass yrds, 1TD
Long – 70 pass yrds
Special Teams TD
DST – 3 sacs
This game will be the turning point that things are going in the right directions but they will still lose…It will be a moral victory.. :)
The trap is set...
and the Steelers escape it in the last seconds and win 28-23…..
…sound familiar…?
When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.

I want to see some good production from the recievers and D-Line

I do love my Chiefs, but I think we might be in for a bit of a thumping.
Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...
ESPN had a magnificent piece
on Belichicks going for it on 4th down. Basically Math experts say he made the best choice.

Its Pitt and I think we should just cut our losses and punt on third down today instead.

Betting on a hopeful...
24 – 23, Chiefs pull it out on a final minute drive…
Chambers is the hero of the day, catching a Cassel pass and running up the sidelines for a score in the last minute.
Hali harries Big Ben all day and walks away with 3 sacks. Studie throws in another one for good measure…

Glad I finished my first beer before this post...
My original post was 34 – 13 Steelers, but figured that all the experts are already predicting that. Thought I’d go out on a limb and be the optimist! :)

Not great, not horrible...
Ben holds the ball too long, much like Matt Cassel gets accused of. I just think he’s gonna have some troubles today…

Thanks. Explains the lack of game time then.
Too bad, I’d like to see him do well.
You weren’t kidding about him being big. Checked his stats and was surprised. 6’5" 269lbs? Wow.
I'd sure like to see some turnovers today
from the Steelers to the Chiefs

This is a game Haley will want to win bad(since he's a pittsburgh native)...
So I’m half expecting hyper aggressive playcalling. Its clearly a trap game for the Steelers as theyre still licking their wounds from last week and looking forward to a near must win next week.

And on the last play of the game Succop kicked a 73 yarder to win it. Maybe I’m sharing too much personal info when I start talking about my dreams.

This gamee will be determined by how many Chiefs fans are in the stadium.
If 1/2 the Stadium is black n gold it will be a blowout!
Disagree, It depends on the Players, if more than half the team shows up to play good ball, we have a chance.
Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...

Well the stadium looks black and gold...
and the Steelers are leading!
Funny
Eric Mangini talking on the NFL Today show…
When asked about the Cleveland fans asking for his head, he said I understand that this is painful and I understand why they’re upset, but (and I’m quoting here) “…this is a process…”
Do you think he’s taking notes from Todd? haha

think about it – Haley says the EXACT SAME WORDS as the (arguably) WORST coach in the league – that says something, and it isn’t good

Too Funny
I was thinking that the Man-genius was trying to take a page from Todd’s book on this. Not how you’re suggesting it… ;)

The Chiefs will not be the number one pick in this years draft
The Chiefs first pick of the draft will NOT be a OL
Thinks UCrawford just needs a hug... offer is there when you are ready UC :p

haley called a run twice
so this is by far bad player exicution why that 3rd down didn’t work
UCrawford will eventually calm down and realize that Haley isn't a bad coach.
Will embrace the Fire Haley Bandwagon if we lose to the raiders by more then a TD...
..But we aren't going to lose.

colquitt punts to the
leggett let it bounce off em at the 2 into the endzone
Man.....
I hate it right now being right about this offense
Predictions for 2009:
The Chiefs will regret cutting LJ
Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.
The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays
Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for
Chiefs 3-13

so far this reminds me of Balt game
ahead and “in it” due to breaks that you don’t and can’t count on … but being outgained by a ton
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!
Love it.
Smart trick-type play.

Thats the second time Cassel has not hit Charles in stride on a short pass play like that
if you can’t hit them in stride on plays like that then the play will not be successful. blocking wasn’t great though either :/

ok, not be like NEGATIVE here, but ...
we’re on pace for 100 yds of total offense while Pitt is on pace for nearly 600 … sorry gang, this is NOT a competitive game or team … it is sad, just plain sad

and yet we're tied
you must be watching a different game
