Plus, Weis and Haley worked together at Jets. RT @BobGlauber Pioli knows Weis .... Chiefs need an OC ... It's not crazy.

A friend of mine and I were talking about this yesterday actually

I mentioned something about how Pendergast is failing as a DC (again) and that we should still pursue Crennel in the offseason and his response was akin to “and hire Weis as your OC?”

As Steve said, Weis has to lose his job this year. He should have lost it last year but if he doesn’t lose it this year then that will mean he’s been at ND 2 years more than Ty Willingham with a significantly worse record with the only difference being that Weis is white and Willingham is black (think of the PR and recruiting nightmare that would be). He’s also probably a victim of the Peter Principle (funny considering our current DC is too) in that he was a great OC but he’s been an absolute abomination as a HC.

He could potentially be someone Haley trusts and understands right out of the box and would probably be a good fit for our system going forward. Nothing could make me happier than demoting Pendergast (or else fire him, either or) to hire Romeo Crennel and then hiring Weis to lighten the load on Haley.

I think playing the race card is ridiculous.

Weis hasn’t been fired because his buyout is 18 million dollars. That would make just about anyone think twice about firing their head coach.

Weis’s biggest problem at ND is his inability to coach up players.

I wouldn't

18 million dollars? Is the guy that wrote that contract Dead Yet?

I'm not SAYING that race is the true explanation but

That’s how it looks. Perception is everything and if recruits (more specifically their parents) begin to think ND makes its’ coaching decisions based on race, it won’t go over too well.

Again, I’m not saying this is that real reason for Weis being kept 2 years longer than a black man with a better, albeit still bad, record (Willingham) but it kinda looks that way.

appears the ND is grappling with more issues than a Race issue

18 million buyout, ND can figure that out. Who would be THE succesor?
That does’t make ND look even sillier?

Finding someone willing to coach at ND

won’t be hard. Selling tickets in 2010 with Weis as HC though? Much tougher sell.

After the embarrassment of a career at ND Weis has put together despite being loaded to the gills with NFL-grade talent there’s no way the alumni or AD could possibly do anything other than pay him not to stand on their sidelines.

I think you are underestimating the intelligence of people...

Besides since ND has a new AD holding them accountable for the crimes of the last administration is stupid… That would be like blaming Pioli for trading Jared Allen.

i'm not.

Haley has more control over his players’ focus. That’s important to him. I would think that it would be beneficial (however much) to be able to influence what your player thought about right before he went to bed.

Fire FIRE FIRE pendergast and get crennel in here…i wouldnt mind with a QB coach who knows what hes doing also.

Proven bad HC so he's not really a prospect for any of those jobs

proven good 3-4 DC and we need the help badly.

You have someone else in mind?

That's basically how I'm looking at it

He’s GOT to be better than Pendergast and the market’s pretty thin when it comes to good 3-4 DCs.

Crennel was a good DC.

And would remove the genital leech that is Pendergast from our Defensive balls.

Always

I have been saying this from day 1. If this does happen then Weis WILL go to the Chiefs. As for the DC i dont know thats really up in the air. If Romeo is ready to fill in then let him. Pendergast is a great position coach like Herm was but nothing more than that.

by Chiefs190 on Nov 22, 2009 12:32 AM CST reply actions

It seems realistic, and I wouldn't mind

But I think it may come down to whether Weis wants to take a year off or not.

Predictions:

Kansas City will not win more than four games in 2009
Kansas City will have a new OC and DC in 2010
Kansas City will win at least seven games in 2010

First, an introduction

I vividly remember having a TV rolled into our 2nd grade classroom in 1984 to watch “Reading Rainbows.”

It was the best part of the day. There were rainbows, stories, books (because TV had like 3 channels then and the internet was still fermenting in a soon to be invented, fiber optic, binary testacle), individual 3 oz milk cartons brought in, and the man, f^cking LeVar Burton, who would then become the BADDEST ENGINEER IN THE F^CKING UNIVERSE.
