Chiefs Scout Oregon at Arizona

From the FanPosts. You got a link for this breaking news story? -Chris

First of all, big “up yours” to Primetime for not putting this on the front page and relegating such breaking news to the lowly Fan Posts.

According to my inside sources the Chiefs will have scouts at this weekend’s colossal Oregon Ducks vs Arizona Wildcats game in beautiful Tucson, Arizona.  But who will the scouts be scouting?  This game, and this conference, is bursting at the seams with NFL talent.  As few of you know the best football is played out west.  They don’t call it the Conference of Champions for nothing.

This game will feature some money o-linemen and some worthy defenders, but for now lets focus on the skill players.

Star-divide

Ed Dickson – TE – Oregon – 6’5” – 245 lbs

I say “God damn!”  This is one fine tight end.  How fitting would it be to use the pick we got for Tony G to take the next great TE out of the Pac-10?  Dickson is a first round talent projected to go in the second and would look great in red.

LaMichael James – RB – Oregon – 5’9” – 180 lbs

Think Jamal Charles, except good, and has actually played against legit college defenses.  No disrespect to the Big 12 but I’m not taking Baylor’s, Texas Tech’s, Okie State’s, A&M’s, Kansas’s, Missoura’s, fuck any of their defenses seriously.  Okay, that is disrespect.

Rob Gronkowski – TE – Arizona – 6’6” – 265lbs

See Ed Dickson.  Growkowski is a beast of a man.  An injury has kept him sidelined all season which may drop him in the draft.  Widely considered the best TE in the country before his untimely injury.

Nic Grigsby – RB – Arizona – 5’10” – 190 lbs

Over 1100 yards and 13 TD’s last year.  Minor injuries have slowed him down in 2009 but he’d still be a great replacement for the void LJ left.

So, who do you want to see in red next year?

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Either TE.

I actually agree with Haley when he says that RB is a position of depth. That said, I remember James and Masoli running all over the Trojans. And usually the Trojan defense is 60% NFL players.

Consistency is only a value if you are not a screw up.

Not to dis on the post

What else have they got. I don’t see TE, RB as priority picks this year for Chiefs.

Corners, safeties, OLineman. Got some more names to watch? Even LB’s

Oregon's got some money linebackers.

Specifically Casey Matthews
Also CB Javes Lewis, Safety John Boyett

For my Cats...

Keep an eye on LB Xavier Kelly. Corner Trevin Wade is a stud but is only a sophomore. DE Ricky Elmore leads the team in sacks.

Steve

Alot of late round picks in this game. Nobody will get picked before the 3rd round though. Ron Gronkowski will probably get picked in the late 2nd. I dont know where Elway gets that the Pac 10 (3rd best conference) has the superior talent. The south east has the best talent. Hey Elway, Where is the highest rated Pac-10 team?

Who is Elway other than a Stanford bitch?

I hope you’re not suggesting that the pinner Big 12 is the #2 conference. Pac-10 is the most balanced from top to bottom. The SEC is an OVERRATED top heavy conference. Watch Gameday this morning? All their “experts” were in agreement that the Pac-10 is quickly gaining on the SEC as the nations top conference. The conference was 5-0 last year in bowl games, hard to argue with that.

You'll never convince me

When your top team losses to Washington, a pathetic team, and Oregon and Stanford(who would have trouble putting 20 pts up in the SEC) put up 50 on you. Your not the best conference. When the Pac 10 doesnt even have a team in the top 10, How can they be the superior conference? When Arizona is competing for your conference, but Couldnt beat the 2nd place team in the big 10, How are you the best conference? Idk what your smoking, but this whole post is ridiculous.

B. won’t play in a bowl game

Said team

got outright ABUSED by Nebraska. They never had a real chance to play in the Big 12 Championship game against Texas and rode on the wave created by the sudden implosion of the Big 12 North this season more than actually being good.

Your assessment of Big 12 Defenses is pretty bad too, to be honest. Three teams in the NCAA top 10 for Total Offense are from the Big 12 in Texas (1), Oklahoma (6), and Nebraska (10). Teams like OSU, KU, NU, OU, UT, and TTU all rank well in the top 25 across the board defensively. Take into consideration how prolific teams as far down the conference rankings as Baylor and Colorado are offensively, and the defensive numbers look even better.

That’s not to say I disagree with your assessment of draft prospects, because I don’t for the most part. I doubt we’ll be looking at RBs very realistically this year and a high pick on a TE would probably be unlikely considering our need at OL and Safety.

Haley and the Patriots have never valued the TE

They have always consistently been in the bottom of the league for times thrown to a TE. I agree we need an upgrade there I just don’t see Pioli/Haley going as high as the 2nd round for a TE.

I don't want no Yo-Yos

Any top-flight Cs/Gs with our Atl 2nd-rounder?

Any big corners? You said skill positions, but mentioned no DBs.

Basically, you dwelt on the two positions in which I have the least interest. :o)

But maybe the beast TE could be a 3rd or 4th-round sleeper pick.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

Suh is getting a C/G double team and Crick is getting held.

The History of Bear Down:
The slogan “BEAR DOWN” was given to the Wildcat teams by John “Button” Salmon, student body president and varsity athlete, shortly before he died in 1926 following an automobile accident. His last message to his teammates was “Tell them to BEAR DOWN”.

One day in 1952 Jack K. Lee, an applicant for the UA’s band directorship, was leaving Tucson by air following an interview with university administration. From his airplane window, Lee observed the huge letters on the roof of the UA gymnasium. Inspired, he began to scribble down the music and lyrics to an up-tempo song. By the time his plane landed, he had virtually finished it. A few weeks later Lee was named the university’s band director, and in September of that year, the UA band performed “Bear Down, Arizona!” in public for the first time. Soon thereafter, “Bear Down, Arizona!” became accepted as UA’s fight song.

Pac 10 is not even close to the top conference for nfl talent

The Southeastern Conference has consistently had the most NFL players. In the 2007 season, the SEC had 263 players on NFL rosters. The ACC had 238 players, Big Ten 234 players, Pac-10 183 players, Big 12 176 players and Big East 84 players.

Not that I am a SEC fan but the Pac 10 is hardly the Goliath that you claimed
