Chiefs Will be Without Vrabel, Several Others Against Steelers
With each passing day it's looking like we should be more concerned with Mike Vrabel's availability for the Kansas City Chiefs the next several weeks than just this weekend. Vrabel once again did not participate in practice due to a knee injury.
Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star thinks he might miss a few weeks.
He's almost assuredly going to be out this weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Andy Studebaker appears in line to get his first NFL start in Vrabel's absence.
Three other Chiefs are in jeopardy of missing Sunday's game:
G/C Andy Alleman - He once again did not practice. We're not even sure exactly what his injury is so his presence on Sunday is a big question mark.
RB Dantrell Savage - Savage hasn't participated all week, and another running back Tim Castille was signed, so don't expect Savage to play.
LB Justin Rogers - Herron hopped aboard the injury report yesterday with a thigh injury. Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com reports it does not appear he will play on Sunday.
***
Looney also noted that three tight ends - Leonard Pope, Brad Cottam and Sean Ryan - saw first team time today which means Haley may be making a decision on whether to keep an extra tight end active to stave off Pittsburgh's blitz defense.
After being the Chiefs No. 1 tight end, Ryan was replaced by Leonard Pope on the depth chart. No word yet on who is coming out ahead between Ryan and Cottam.

Whoops,
see you’ve already covered the original source of PFT’s rumor…
This isn't a "kum-bye-yah" campfire! THIS IS FOOTBALL!
Yeah
Doesn’t seem like a hard report so I didn’t use that wording.

In any case
not having Vrabel is going to hurt the defense.

PFT
I can’t believe they said Vrabel has struggled… while Williamson on ESPN says Mike Brown has been among the best players for KC…
I think they got that backwards
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers
Yeah it's kind of a bizzaro-world news day for the Chiefs.
I thought Vrabel has been doing pretty damn well, and Brown, well, I think everyone sees him as the red-headed stepchild on defense so to speak.
Oh well, these guys probably don’t bother watching too much of the tape on the Chiefs anyway.

I think they both have looked like smart players who are probably too old and slow to be all that great.
But to an idiot reading the headlines, Brown WAS player of the week. At least he has the ball skills to catch ’em when they come his way. The one he stole from Flowers was ironic, after all the muffed INTs by Flowers this season.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
Vrabel injury could be a good thing
Getting Studebaker some serious game time could prove extremely valuable. If we find out he’s not a solution, plus an aging Vrabel, suddenly that position may be our off-season #1 priority (on defense at least). On the other hand, if Studebaker shows that he’s at least serviceable as an NFL starter, maybe the first priority is safety.

I thought Studebaker looked timid against the Raiders
Hopefully he plays better this week.
I wish Ndukwe would get the nod at RG over Alleman, but it looks like it is going to be Wade Smith. Ah well….still better than Mike Goff.
Studi had 6 tackes in a quarter and a half
that is not timid.
Vrabel hasn’t had more than 5 tackles in a GAME since week 1 where he recorded 7.

we play each other this week in FF
I think this game will have division implications, as well as wildcard implications.

Yeah our division
is tight as hell. I’m surprised how well I’ve done since my team is cobbled together roughly every week or so

I’m 6-4. Ricky Williams sat on our Waiver Wire for weeks. About a month ago I was like “WTF is he just sitting here not getting picked up?”
here is what he had done before I picked him up:

Here is what he has done since:
BYE

and now Brown is out! Ganja tried to get me to trade Williams to him for Heath Miller. He has been hittin the green stuff waaay to hard.

Williams was a helluva pickup though
Hard to have seen Brown getting hurt, but awesome foresight!

Well Williams was already doing pretty well
I also have Ray Rice and Matt Forte. So I am stacked at RB. I have Brady and Moss as well.
Pretty good lien up.

Apparently I have the "Ron Popile" fantasy team
I just set it and forget it.
The flea flicker league on the other hand… that is like a 2nd job.

I like ESPN better
I find the flea flicker league harder to follow and with not as good information. The ESPN design is really nice.
Also the flea flicker league is too deep for me. There is nothing on the waiver wire ever but garbage. I like the 10 person leagues cause you can make a lot of moves.
