But [Derrick] Johnson, who turns 27 on Sunday, does still have some value. If the collective bargaining issues render him a restricted free agent, there is speculation in league circles the Chiefs could give Johnson a second-round tender offer and hope another NFL team that covets him is willing to give up an NFL draft choice.

Yeah well no comment on Derrick Johnson, he was the afterthought of the article anyhow.
But as for LJ, yeah it does seem like he won. He got everything he wanted it’s true. But look at T.O., that shit catches up to you. You cause drama, and it follows you. I am just glad he isn’t around here to cause anymore trouble.
No one will give a second.
The Chiefs will place a second round tender on him. As a restricted fre agent that just gives him a slary and if a team signs him without the chiefs approval they would be awarded a 2nd round pick. They could sign him to the 2nd round tender and trade him for anything (players or a later round pick). I would expect to get a late pick.
Just the 1st shot in a protracted battle. Re: DJ
Now LJ won a battle and will lose the war.
I hope he has the money he needs for life because The Gravy Train is done.
Small contracts year to year is what LJ is going to play for now.
We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them. Washington & Oakland!

What happened
to Zach Thomas’ preseason prediction that thiis would be DJ’s biggest year in this new defensive scheme and Haley’s report(s) about him putting in the work and following ZT like a puppy dog? Something snapped off with DJ at some point and instead of going LJ’s route he decided to handle his business with class. Honestly I just don’t think he wants to remain in KC anymore (ring a bell Tony, B Dubbs, or LJ?) and has made this known to Haley/Pioli. He’s by far one of the best players on the team but he’s barely sees the field because he’s one of the few who haven’t boughten into the system. It’s a shame.

Actually, Sometimes when all the guys you know and like leave
it makes you want to leave and start anew. Maybe DJ feels that way and I don’t blame him much. He plays the way he has always played, That is a much better way to handle it then LJ’s endless crap. DJ still has a future with a team that can use his abilities, Maybe Houston.
Worked for Pollard :)

Lol
I was referring to DJ playing for the Texans, totally got what you were saying; love the subject title!

Recapping
Remember how we all were hungry for more competent coaching to actually develop the talent we’ve drafted, which has been so precious to us and the only upside to being a Chiefs fan the last 4 years is basically the draft? Well considering DJ is on his way out, we’ve already cut lose LJ, Bowe’s name currently marred in controversy, Dorsey is a 4-3 DT being converted to a 3-4 DE, and Hali a 4-3 DE converted to 3-4 OLB, Albert’s somphmore slump; let’s just say it doesn’t necessarily look promising for our ‘coveted’ core. If it weren’t for Dorsey & Hali just being beasts of pure athletes and defying the odds, Pioli would have completely blown this roster up. Clark knew this was coming but spoonfed us some bullshit about all our 1st rounders having a place. He just failed to mention it was on other teams.

I really hope DJ doesn't go
But I wish him luck if he does. He’s a class act, at least. And he has tons of potential to help out the right team… I just wish that team was KC.
Anyone want to buy a DJ jersey for cheap?

At his best
He is one of the best players on the team. On his downswing he is very mediocre. Until he quits being a yo yo he will ride pine. Yes it is painful to watch, but that is the whole story right there. It’s not like we haven’t all noticed he is not consistent before this year.
Chiefs go 9-7. LJ makes 1400 yards. DBowe makes 1200 yards. Defense #18.
10/28--The Koolaid buzz is beginning to wear off. Maybe drop this back to my original thoughts on the year. Chiefs go 6-10 (and that my be optimistic!). LJ gets a restraining order to stay 1400 yards away from the Chiefs. I'll let the rest stand for now. 11/18 Oh My! Dbowe gets a restraining order to stay 1200 yards away from the Chiefs. Argh! Can we go 5-11? Can the defense make #20?
Hell yeah i would jump on it if we got a 2nd for DJ
1-1st
3-2nds
1-3rd
1-4th
3-5ths
Im pretty content lol
I'd be cool with that too
A 2nd for a guy who hasn’t produced at all since he was drafted would be an insane deal. He’s a good enough guy, but no top 15 linebacker. (to be honest, I don’t recall his actual draft spot he was selected)

DJ was a first rounder
15th overall.
John
"Gentlemen! You can't fight in here. This is the War Room!"
LJ didn't win anything.
He was canned for being a shitty human being and a poor running back.
The Kansas City fans won.
He won in the fact that
He got out of KC by being an ass, and it barely cost him, what, $20k after the contract Cincy gave him?
He won the battle. However he already lost the war (presuming Benson plays and LJ stays 4th string and does nothing)

just think...
if we could get another 2nd for trading back…

Anything LJ won
is a very hollow victory. He’ll say and do the right things until he realizes he won’t be the man in Cincy, and then he’ll display his diapers again.
DJ just cannot seem to play the same day in and day out. If he played every game like the Denver game last year, he would probably be the top linebacker in the league. But he has a tendency to become the invisible man.
No yo-yos.
