Three Chiefs Remain Out at Thursday Practice

The Kansas City Chiefs listed four players as out on the Wednesday injury report.  Today, it looks like at least one of those players will be upgraded.

LB David Herron, who was out all of last week, returned from a knee injury to at least partially participate in practice.

Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com also reports that CB Travis Daniels has been seeing time at nickelback over CB Mike Richardson.  This could mean Daniels gets more time on Sunday.

Other Chiefs missing practice include:

LB Mike Vrabel - He's still recovering from a knee injury suffered in last Sunday's win over the Raiders.  He came out in the middle of the third quarter and did not return.

Andy Studebaker took first team reps in his place.

G/C Andy Alleman - No word yet on what Alleman's injury is but he was out yesterday as well.  Wade Smith has been taking reps in his place.  With G Mike Goff headed to injured reserve last week, this is becoming a thin position.

RB Dantrell Savage - He's got an ankle problem and it doesn't bode well if FB Tim Castille was signed and the head coach referenced Savage's injury as a reason for Castille's signing.

As of now it doesn't look good for Savage on Sunday but we'll take a wait and see approach.

Studebaker

Hopefully he steps up and proves his worth while he has a chance. I would love to have a good young LB to replace Vrabel when its all said and done.

100 percent agreed

I like this kid, he plays hard all the time, hes a bit wild out there but I bet some time under vrabel here and he will only improve. He looks better this year as an OLB in the limited time I saw him.

Would be a dream to not have to worry about that spot for awhile…we all know we lack top talent at all positions except…2 or 3.

Savage

I think he was doomed, after he dropped that potienally rare chance at a first down, and the next time he touched it he muffed the punt. Let only the fact that Mike Cox hasn’t seen an offensive possession since the last time Gailey was calling plays. This aquistion is just enough fodder to place him in the list of inactives

Haley told the offense to run it again. When someone said the defense already knows the play he responded, "So what, make it work."

agreed

Savage has a one-way ticket to the inactive list… AND, if they see ANYTHING they like from Castille… Savage could be off the team or on IR.

That would be too bad for him, I think he’s a hard worker and a good underdog story.

* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers

Savage fumbles once and then all of the sudden hes on IR or off the team?

Thats pretty sad, IMO. Lets have it like Haleys way…if he screws up once (oh wait, he already has) then lets sign another coach and give the boot to Haley.

I like the kid...

But I think his heart is too big for his body. Its not that small backs can’t make it i.e. Darren Sprioles, Leon Washington. But their skills set has to really be outstanding. I honestly dont the savage makes it through that hurdle.

I agree with Stag, if Castille makes one key block on sunday that may as well put savage out for the season. It isnt entirely based on his fumble, but factor in… How many “Scat-backs” do we have on the team. Charles, Williams, (Kolby Smith). It isnt enough room for him.

He hasnt done anything to seperate himself. Smith has had an opportunity, but I think he is a quality back-up, and compliment to a nice running game.

Plus, I dont know Castille M.O. but his size tells me, we have an option in the goalline offense, that may be able to push Nswanger into the endzone.

No hard feelings Savage

that's just me speculating, wrestler

I’m just saying that he was already a fringe player on the roster.

IF Charles continues to play well, and Smith contributes, and the new guy contributes, and Savage isn’t returning kicks… he doesn’t have much of a role left

Lets hope things work out for us...

I would laugh my ass of if we beat the Steelers. On NFL.com i was looking at the Chiefs/Steelers matchup and on a poll, 80% of 35,000 people think the Chiefs will win this game. How crazy huh? Lol. They also said that Dwayne Bowe used a “Performance Enhancing Drug”…yea right. They make it sound like Steroids….Hes no Shawn Merriman

I really hope Travis Daniels can play CB

Because Mike Richardson is so bad it makes my eyes water…and I ain’t crying…

In wondrous beauty, once again, shall the golden tables stand mid the grass, which the gods had owned in the days of old.
