Eerie correlations between injuries to Ronnie Brown and Larry Johnson (2007)
The injury hasn't been disclosed yet, but we know that whatever it is has ended Ronnie Brown's season. I had a thought when I first saw the highlight on TV - "wow, that reminds me of the tackle that took down LJ". Tonight I was looking at the replay clip on nfl.com and some things started boilin' in me noggin.
Peep dis:
- Both players are almost exactly the same size (Johnson listed 6'1" 230lbs. - Brown listed 6'0" 230lbs.)
- Both were the same age when the injury occurred (Johnson was 27 at the time)
- It happened at almost the same point in the season (Johnson's in the Nov 4th game vs. The Packers - Brown on November 15th vs. The Bucs). Though I believe LJ went down in week 8, Brown went down in week 9. That's still close.
- Both happened vs. teams located in "Bays" (Green Bay and Tampa Bay)
- Both players injured their right foot.
Thems be some strange correlations!
Now that I've got you thinking, can anyone think of others?
Miami fans should pray that Brown's return fares better than Johnson's.

Brown will be fine
LJ went south after clocking in 762 carries in two seasons. That’s just too much wear and tear for an RB classified as a power back that looks for contact at the end of runs.
Broken foot or not he was already on the decline. Ronnie Brown still has pretty fresh legs having clocked no more than 241 in a single season.

of course circumstances aren't exactly identical
Brown may also return to a better O-line than LJ. LJ’s decline was likely sped along by the decline of the line he was playing behind. It was a double-whammy.
Regardless of carries, Brown will return to play at age 28 going on 29 – he will be nearing the end of his prime and will begin to decline naturally.
It feels like it was just a few years ago that Brown and Cadillac came out of Auburn – time flies.

I thought it was curious that LJ was available at a time Brown got hurt
and Pioli Parcells didn’t pick him up before the bungholes.
This isn't a "kum-bye-yah" campfire! THIS IS FOOTBALL!
