Random Thoughts: Bowe, Bills, Charles & More

It's time for some more random thoughts!

*Dwayne Bowe got the shaft. He took those PED's and still has trouble catching the ball. What a ripoff!

*The Bills are a joke. I understand that Dick Jauron had to go. But after hearing some of the potential replacements for DJ, I have to laugh. Adam Schefter said that some of the potential HC candidates next year were a couple of arena football league coaches. Seriously? That's pretty embarassing. However, those guys aren't their number one guy. Mike Shanahan seems to be their top candidate. Elway made Shanny look like a genius. After Elway retired, the Broncos playoff record is 1-4. Remember the Broncos from 06-08? Each year the team underachieved and fell short of the playoffs. Why do you think the guy was fired?

*Our backfield isn't very good. We scored our first rushing touchdown of the season against Oakland. We were the last team in the league to score a rushing touchdown. That's not a statistic to be excited about. Jamaal Charles has the potential to be a big-time impact player. But with the exception of his touchdown run this last Sunday, his fumbling problem has been his most consistent attribute. With LJ out of the way, I think he can finally shine. Let's all hope so.

*Speaking of the running game - let's run some Wildcat plays. Just 1 or 2 plays will make me happy. We don't need to rely on it like Miami does.

*Here's a Super Bowl match that would literally keep me glued to the chair: the Colts and the Saints. Both teams have awesome offenses. Their defenses aren't too shabby either, but I'm more interested in their offenses.

*Here's something I'm looking forward to in the coming offseason: the 2010 AP Mock Draft. I loved participating in that last year. I'm ready to do it again!

Okay that's all for now. Feel free to comment...

"The Bills are a joke."

I just hope enough of the players on our team remember that those guys dropped 54 points on us at Arrowhead last year. We need to get a little payback when they come in again this year.

Thanks a ton

so much for being able to block that game from my memory.

This is my signature line. It is full of awesome and win.

I was there too.

Wasn’t it close by halftime… and a thirty point game by the end of the 3rd? Maybe it was thirty beers by the end of the 3rd.

I was also there

My first game at arrowhead and we left at the end of the third…

I was at that game last year and it was atrocious

But I’m talking about today. They haven’t been to the playoffs since 1999. They just fired their coach. TO hasn’t impressed anyone this year. They just look like they are in disarray.

I’m afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will, so now I’m afraid I have something of a mess on my hands. -Arrested Development

When we blitz, have the LB's do a KC Strip. Do this in rememberance of DT.

Don't get me wrong because I hate TO

But, his performance this year isn’t his fault imo. The QBs they have simply can’t throw the ball to their receivers due to lack of talent and they have bad OL similar to us.

Two Rookie Guards will do that to you

and we want to have multiple rookies on our line Next year.
FastRewind, we will look as bad next year as this year.
I’m all for some depth drafted/signed next year and a starter at Center.
But It takes some time and we should use this year to get it figured out.
Muir might be impeding the process IMHO

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them. Washington & Oakland!

The guards haven’t been the problem. They have played well but inconsistently. It’s the tackles that are the problem. We’re starting our sixth different tackle this weekend due to injury and third at LT alone. Not a recipe for success.

Chiefs will prevail.

They were really THAT bad last year when they played the Bills…

by worc on Nov 19, 2009 2:53 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

haha it's okay!

the bills are in turmoil…o-line is missing Jason Peters and not that good period. Lynch isn’t running that good this year. Trent green and the receivers aren’t that good..besides pass defense their defense blows overall…

So if we can agree Chiefs are still THAT bad that means no change…Bills got worse! Chiefs will prevail! :P

Trent green

Over at Rumblings we call that a MRW because I screw up guys names a lot. Trent Edwards. Trent Green played for you guys. :-)

I didnt know a DIET PILL was a performance enhancing drug?

Weird…People swear like its steroids. It helps you lose weight….not get you ripped/faster/meaner/stronger.
Also, i like the Vikings in the superbowl. The Saints haven’t really impressed me like they did last year. Even though they are undefeted…they still almost lost to some pretty shitty teams…miami, st louis, and almost blew it big with ATL. They have crushed some pretty good teams like the Giants and Eagles but i still think the Vikings will beat them in the NFC championship game. Trust me…Favre will win it for the Vikings in 2009. I really think the Vikings are the best team in the league.

by Wrestler189s on Nov 19, 2009 2:30 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

but some

people who take the steroids, use the diet pills to flush thier system, i dont think bowe did that he did it for the sole purpose of losing weight.

but i do think some of the the drugs that are banned are just stupid, like sudafed and aderall.

by cassel4prez on Nov 19, 2009 2:37 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Bowe didn't look increasingly faster or bigger than any other year.

So it was just probably to lose weight for Haley. Isn’t Nyquill or somethin like that on there too? Maybe i am thinking of sudafed….i cant remember.

by Wrestler189s on Nov 19, 2009 2:59 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Sudafed (pseudoephedrine) and Adderall (amphetamine)

are banned because of their effects on the sympathetic nervous system (especially the heart rate). The league bans these two in particular because the have shown to increase the likelihood of cardiac arrest in people with heart defects. They can also cause arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) that would be deadly during physical exertion….

What about guys who have ADD then lol...

“Im going to tackle this guy and win the game!”….“Oh look…a bird….” haha.

by Wrestler189s on Nov 19, 2009 3:00 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

You just channeled your inner Mike Brown there.

That’s the only reason he missed those tackles. He must have ADD!

by Matt89 on Nov 19, 2009 3:33 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Doesn't make sense then

If the league is worried about heart defects that is STUPID!
Maybe we should just play with NO helmets that makes more sense.
OR we need to stop selling these drugs cause the average Joe is more likely to DIE from them than a NFL player? :( WTF

I think the league

might be doing the ban on those drugs to protect themselves from lawsuits. I did some research on them in med school, and they are fine IF you obey the warnings…..but people can use them to get an edge. The league ban is a strong enough disclaimer to cover them in the event of a player dying. You and I could have the heart defects required to cause death with these drugs, but the odds are small enough to allow them to pass legally for the drug market.

I wonder what the odds of those two making it to the Superbowl undefeated are.

I was thinking the same thing

Of they both are undefeated and in the superbowl, that would be the game of all time. There would NEVER be another superbowl as talked about or as important, until it happened again, of course. But yeah, that would be the tits

Not likely...lol

They may well be the Super Bowl teams…but they will not be undefeated.

I didn’t come over here to be a jerk or anything, but the least you could do is get your facts right. Schefter lists Shanahan, former NFL head coach Jim Haslett (who played for the Bills back in the 70s), Giants (and former Bills) OC Kevin Gilbirde and an incredibly successful CFL head coach (and former NFL OC). No arena league coaches. Nobody that is generally awful or would be an “embarrassing” choice. Plus it’s November. They can’t really have interest in NFL assistants yet at least not publicly. You all should remember that from last year when you hired an assistant that took his team to the Super Bowl but wasn’t on anybody’s coaching radar in November.

by MattRichWarren on Nov 20, 2009 6:29 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

that's fine

I’m not hating on the Bills. But I am saying that your team has some serious issues with the coaching candidates. Gilbride has done pretty well – but I’m still not completely impressed with him. And Haslett isn’t popping up on anyone’s coaching list yet. And trust me – I would be embarassed if Haley’s previous job before this was the OC of a CFL/Indoor league. I think that teams who look for football coaches outside of the NFL are only going to end up letting themselves down.

I’m afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will, so now I’m afraid I have something of a mess on my hands. -Arrested Development

You take Schefter’s word as God. We ran Gilbride out of town 5 years ago. Why is he so attractive now? He will never be head coach of the Bills.

Haslett is 6-0 in the UFL, got two wins out of the Rams last year, and is a motivator. He is the anti-Dick Jauron plus he played for the Bills. He’s not the worst candidate I have heard of and has had moderate success in the NFL.

And Trestman has been a quality coach in the NFL for a long time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marc_Trestman It just happens his most recent job is HC in Montreal. Again I have heard nothing from the Bills saying they are interested in him. It could be Schefter pulling a friggin name out of a hat.

We know for a fact they talked to Jon Gruden and have a meeting with Shanahan next week. The others are pure speculation by Schefter. It’s embarrassing that an ESPN football guy guesses we’ll look at these coaches?

I think that teams who look for football coaches outside of the NFL are only going to end up letting themselves down.

Cause no college coach has ever been successful in the NFL.

I just don't see a premier coaching candidate wanting anything to do with the way Buffalo's team-building approach.

A good/great coach with some gravitas would either want to call the shots on personnel himself, or see a clear change in philosophy by mgmt. Trent Edwards is a very good QB who’s been beaten down by a TOTAL inability to address the trenches. What they needed coming into ’09 was a better O-Line than in ’08. Instead, they regressed and to top it off, added T.O. to whom they have little hope of getting the ball.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

by hmills110 on Nov 21, 2009 12:48 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

A few things I need to point out

*Just because I am relaying what Schefter said doesn’t mean that I take his word for God.
*Haslett has had “moderate” success in the NFL. Two wins for the Rams last year doesn’t even come close to moderate.
*Jimmy Johnson is the only real college coach that has done well in the pros. I’m sure there have been others too, but those guys are far and few between. Lane Kiffin, Bobby Petrino, Nick Saban, Butch Davis, Steve Spurrier and Dennis Erickson are all good examples of college coaches who tanked as NFL head guys.
*Find me a successful NFL head coach today that was coaching in the UFL/CFL/ etc. before he got his current job.

I’m afraid I prematurely shot my wad on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will, so now I’m afraid I have something of a mess on my hands. -Arrested Development

Charles has fumbled the ball 3 times

How does that make it the most consistent stat for him in his career?

Colts just win...

but I just don’t see it with that team…and I’ll probably regret it come SB time…

by butchcassidy on Nov 20, 2009 2:57 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Dick Jauron might be relieved.

A team needing SERIOUS O-Line help jettisons its best lineman and does little to replace him, and adds Terrell Owens. Can you imagine?

I have a hard time imagining what HC would WANT to coach in Buffalo, when it’s clear that buying the groceries won’t be his call. Shanny’s mentioned, but he wants say on personnel. And, frankly, the personnel people in Buffalo dropped the ball.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

by hmills110 on Nov 20, 2009 9:10 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

T.O. won’t be in Buffalo next year.

The next coach in Buffalo will be a GM/HC like Shanahan or the Bills will hire a GM who will then hire a coach. They will be reworking top to bottom.
