Free Agency 2012 - Not who we should go get or anything
I don't know if anyone has paid attention to all the players that have left the K.C Chiefs this year and what they have said after they left.
Bernard Pollard leaves and Pioli and Hailey try to black ball this guy from joining another team. LJ leaves (great I can't stand this guy) but has nothing good to say about Haley. T.O comments on his Facebook page talking about LJ being with better coaches this and that. Tony G leaves and talks about not being yelled and like a rookie in the league.
My point is what player is going to want to even come to our team?
If people think that players do not text and tweet each other then they are crazy. I guarantee you what Haley and Pioli are doing is not building an empire they are creating a bad wrap to come play in K.C.
You think a player is going to come here over another place? What's going to happen is we are going to get the third teer players that no one else wants. Some will say that's okay we will just pay them a lot of money. However, if we know anything about the ways in New England they do not overpay their players. I'm sorry but the only way to do this right is to build through the draft, and how long will that take?
I have heard rumors that some of the games this year will be blacked out. The Chiefs can't afford to take along time to turn this around. The fans of K.C will leave, the games will not be shown on t.v., and by the time they turn this around through the draft...will the fans return? I know I sound really down and maybe like a hater, but seriously I mean am I the only one that feels this way?

I’m a Chiefs fan no matter what their record is, and i’ll always be a Chiefs fan. These last 3 years have been pretty hard to take, and really hard to watch. I really hope we can pull it together as a team and finish this year off strong.
The day’s of a coach yelling at his players has ended the players wont stand for it. T.Haley need’s to understand that it’s not going to work here and try a different approach. In the end i think Haley will not be our coach next year, and maybe not even our OC. He’s unproven as a head coach, and until he is proven he will get no respect, from the player’s.
I’ve said all along that switching so many things up was a mistake and IMO i was right. You cant take a team that has been building and drafting for a 4-3 and then say ………OK now we are going to switch to the 3-4 and everything you young guys have learned in the past is all wrong , so start over . Then start the season out by switching the OC so that everything they learn in preseason is out the window, and now we start all over again.
totally disagree
I don’t want to have this whole argument again…
but, Tom Coughlin took a while to warm up to the NYG… then took them to the Super Bowl, and they can sign FAs at will.
Parcells sure didn’t hurt ANY of his teams’ abilities to sign FAs, and many followed him from place to place…. even now in Miami, see Jason Taylor choosing to go back there.
Former players (TO doesn’t count) generally have had nothing but good things to say about Haley, when there’s nothing for them to gain by lying.
Players will respect him a TON when they start to see on the field results, as will the fans. Period.
No one will be whining about his “style” WHEN KC is winning ball games.
I totally disagree with the perception that somehow players won’t come to a team where the coach yells. Players would choose a winning team with a yelling coach over a losing team with a lovey-dovey coach ANY day… and most FA will go where the money is anyway.
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers
I have mixed emotions Stag
You’re right in principal, but we have a couple of rookies in Haley and Pioli. Only time will tell if they’ll be able to pull it off. So far, it’s not good. Haley may never find that groove. You’re talking about some very rare cases of wild success. I think it’s great that these guys are modeling themselves after stellar examples, but if it goes sideways, we could end up with Gunther 2.0 rather than Parcells 2.0
There’s no guarantees man.
Braccae illae virides cum subucula rosea et tunica Caledonia-quam elenganter concinnatur!
It's not good??
Well, it’s not terrible either.
We started with a 2-14 team full of out of shape, undisiplined, unskilled, disheartened players without much “fight” and completley overflowing with “give up.” Last season was truly painful to watch from an effort standpoint. I will admit that there were 2 games that I just flat turned off (and I haven’t missed a Chiefs game since the NFL ticket started). I used to be a season ticket holder when I lived in Olathe and Hutchenson KS; and I’ve not seen a team give up on a game by game basis like the team did last season since the winless Bucaneeers team of oh so many years ago.
We began the season with 31 new players. Think about that. 53 men on the roster and 31 of em were new. Since the first week we’ve got to have added/swapped in another 15 guys at least. The defense has changed to a 3-4, and is at least “ok” in most areas (safety is an issue most weeks). Guys like Tamba Hali and Ron Edwards are showing up with a fire in their belly and no “give up” at all. They play it to the whistle on every play. I’ve not seen a single game ALL YEAR where the Chiefs looked like they just flat out gave up on trying to win. (Last year the defense spent 1/2 the season just walking around going through the motions. They gave up and it was CLEARLY evident when you watched the games.)
We added a HC and a GM that, by all measurable accounts, are working very hard to build a team and keep searching until they find the right players to fit the system. NO ONE has been more active than the Chiefs in turning the roster on a week to week basis in an attempt to get better at every position. Think about all the holes we had in the team in week 2. In week 2 if you asked people what we needed to do in the draft the responce you got was a list as long as my preverbal johnson. If you ask that same question now in week 9 you will get a different answer. Some positions HAVE been addressed. We’ve seen improvement on the OL, Receiver, RB, LB, and TE as the season has gone by.
We’ve now morphed the offensive scheme and tweaked it a bit to better fit the players we have on the field. The HC (love him or hate him for it) HAS improved this teams fight. Last season we were a fat-assed. whimpering, whining, and cowering chihuahua one of Vicks pit bull fights. THIS season we’re a still a chihuahua in terms of wins and losses, but we’re a RABID chihuahua, complete with dripping froth, that at least gets into the fight.
We’re better in every position on the field (barring injuries to Page, and the trade of TG) than we were last season. Some of our young guys are really starting to step into their own (Dorsey, Mays, T Jack, and yes even Hali) on teh defense. On the other side of the ball Charles & Albert are looking like the long term solutions we need. Cassel is hit and miss from week to week, but he still gives up more from the QB position than we had from anyone else on the roster last season (Yes, even Thigpen).
And here’s the big one: It’s only been 9 games. We aren’t 2-14 this year, we’re 2-7. We’ve got 7 games left where we could improve on the W-L record (if that’s the only thing people are willing to look for tosee signs of improvement) . This team is most definetly headed the RIGHT direction.
Has Haley been perfect? Hell no, but who is? Has Pioli come in and made filled the team to overflowing with probowl caliber talent in one offseason? Hell no, but did you honestly think he would?
Let’s go back in time and look to last offseason when people were all saying things like: “I’d be satisfied with steady improvement all season long and a few more wins. I know they arent goign to turn it around in one year, but I expect improvement”
I bet I read a line like that in at least 500 posts/comments in the offseason. Sure, some pie in the sky folks were shouting PLAYOFFS from the roof of the insane asylum, but most of us knew that was never going to happen.
You asked for steady improvement, and that’s what we’re gotten all season. I don’t expect everyone to be jumping ON the Haley / Pioli bandwagon, but dayum: Don’t you think it’s a little too soon to be hoping/wishing/asking for them to be gone next week or next season?

Rec Texas Chief
Losing games is tough to watch.
And we have seen a lot of that.
the Question is Are we getting better?
Yes, all new systems and 60% new players and we have 2 wins.
just like last year.
Maybe 4 by the end of this year, just like 2007.
Not something to say we have arrived but we will BE better next year.
More players/coaches, time to learn and some STABILITY will make this a team to respect come Gameday, very soon!
We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them. Washington & Oakland!

2012 Really?
What about 2010 and 2011? I dont think you build a reputation on one season, I can’t say that I agree with anything you have said. These guys get paid an awful lot of money, I really dont think they care if they are yelled at, not only that but can you name one coach that doesn’t yell? Every single one of them has lost their mind on the sideline at one point in their career.
This is all speculation with little merit.
This space for rent.
I disagree with everything you said
You have 3 unrespected players around the league talking crap about Haley/Pioli.
What about Kurt Warner, Larry Fitxgerald, Mike Gandy, Boldin, Breston, and Edge James? I would say they are respected player and some even credit their success to Haley, Now consider the fact that there are 5 SB appearences between them. I think we will be fine.
Also, I doubt they go after a bunch of big name FA, Maybe Mankins, Wilfork, Breston would be the biggest and we would only need to sign one of them to be a successful off-season.
OHANA!
edge
didn’t exactly have a lot of success in AZ, I haven’t heard reports of anyone other than fitz and Warner saying good things about the guy…. And frankly, those are the two most talented guys that would have succeeded with or without him.
Boldin said he'd play for Haley again...
Bobby Wade had played for Haley before in Chicago, directly…he was his position coach. Lance Long, Leonard Pope came here and had a choice as to where they landed.
I’ve never heard any comments from TG saying he didn’t want to play for Pioli/Haley… he wanted to go to a team ready to compete for the playoffs now. Even Brian Waters and Haley seem to have a mutual respect for one another. Did you see Waters coming off the field by Haley last weekend?

yes
But take a close look at the picture. Haley is extending his hand way out their, and Waters acts like it has dog shit on it.

lol...
I didn’t see it quite the same, but I do appreciate the observation….funny stuff.

You give me a choice
between a million dollar check and being out of the league… and I’m going to play for anyone…. people weren’t exactly knocking down the door to get long pope and wade….
I don’t think waters has a whole lot of admiration for haley… but that’s purely speculation considering I don’t know either one of them
Pope, no. Wade we pretty much picked up right after he was cut by Minn.
I'm officially on the 'Draft Eric Berry' train.

Well...
You said, "I haven’t heard reports of anyone other than fitz and Warner saying good things about the guy…. "
I was just pointing out, that I heard Boldin say he would play for Haley again. Even after the sideline arguement that got all the press.

I wouldn't call
What boldin said a ringing endorsement, and when he said it, he was looking to get out of AZ….
Waters supports Haley too
Even Larry Johnson said he likes Haley(Even if it was to just get on a roster)
When Haley offered the team to take their pads off in practice, Who came out and said “we havent earned that”, Brian Waters. If he was upset with Haley do you think he would have said that or just took his pads off?
This post is just premature, The Chiefs, as along as they offer Money, They have just as good a chance as any other team. Pioli has three rings, That is going to be considered heavily when FA decide on signing here. They know he put together a dynasty.
That Falcons Pick Is Looking Like It Might Be Higher Then We Thought.
I have Ronnie Brown, Micheal Turner, and Dwayne Bowe all on my fantasy team.
Fitz credits Haley with his success
Also, Boldin, Edge, and Gandy all liked him and supported him. This post is wrong in that sense, thats all im saying. Players will listen to Warner, Fitz, and Boldin over those 3 head cases anyday.

I get upset like the rest of the Chiefs fans out there
But it’s gonna pan out. I can’t say I agree with everything I’m seeing every week, but I do think there is a method to the madness. The disaster scene in this post is a little preemptive for the time being. We’ve got a new GM, a new coach, and a ton of new players. We gotta let this system take effect fully before we can judge it. Does it suck that it would take some time to figure out Haley is a moron and we have to start over? Yes! But what would suck even more is another complete overhaul after this year before we even saw where this ship is headed. I think we will get a couple more wins this year, and I’m hoping we’ll get the missing pieces in this draft and with free agents in the offseason. Only time will tell……..
