A little love for the Kool Aid drinkers (-!

If you stick around AP long enough, you'll notice a trend. Every so often Chris or Joel have to put out a post for ALL to read reminding us to play nice. I want to say for the record that I have never ever had the privilege to attend a game at Arrowhead. Ever. I have been to see the Royals in KC when Cookie Rojas and Quisenberry and Brett and Mayberry were cleanin' some Yankee ass back in the day. Man what a feeling. Every body there is one of your people.

When you go to a game at Arrowhead, everyone else is tailgating and partying and wearing RED!! Why? Because they love the Chiefs baby. That's what this is all about. OUR Chiefs. But let's not forget it's a man's game, it's confrontational and it's tough. It's competitive. So naturally whether you win or lose, your going to be passionate about our Chiefs. Whether your a kool-aid drinker or your in my camp with those of us who are not big on Haley yet.

Star-divide

The point is, we seem to have lost our sense of humor. We can't laugh at ourselves or our Chiefs. We're not that important people. People die all the time and when they do, that's it. Game over. So don't let this one special part of our lives, a part that should unite us, slip away and become meaningless. Enjoy it.

Look, you couldn't make a spaghetti dish and serve it to everyone on AP and then take a survey and get the same feedback on what people liked or disliked about it from 10 people, let alone hundreds. Now you sure aren't gonna get the same two opinions on something as diversified as football. Not when there's so much emotion involved.

Anyway, I'm just a regular dude growing up in America, a long long way from my Arrowhead friends. I'm not anybody's judge, juror or moderator. But it just seems we could embrace our differences and enjoy them. Just because somebody hates Haley at the moment, big deal. Laugh about it. Laugh at them. Help them to laugh at themselves. When someone is angry about our team right now and their venting, you certainly aren't helping to diffuse the situation by yelling and name calling and insulting people for being themselves.

We all have a right to say what we want and be ourselves and share that with anyone that WANTS to read our input on AP. Hey, personally, I love the kool aid drinkers. Can you seriously imagine how dull and boring AP would become if we didn't have the two camps to pick on each other? We'd be like robots. We'd all come in here and repeat the mantra and wait for our batteries to be recharged. But we're not robots, we're people, we're individuals. We should remember that. You never know what someone just went through in their life or at that moment. So it wouldn't kill us to have a little compassion and kindness for one another would it?

I don't know why people feel they have the right to take ownership of other people so much. People DON'T have to agree with our thinking. And again, if we all agreed I'd be bored to tears.

Take KCPorkchop for example. Instead of getting hateful when he's teased about drinking the Kool-Aid, he took it in stride and even put his profile pic as the kool-aid mascot. That's awesome!! That's the sprit right there. It's a fun, respectful way to say "In your face, I love Kool Aid..." Awesome!! That' makes it fun. Now you can debate and pick on each other all in good fun. When did we get so serious that we forgot what laughter is?

Nobody gets picked on more than me. It's great. Just do it in fun. Don't attack people and insult them for being who they are. That's not right. Look around you AP, for better or for worse we're all part of this dysfunctional KC Chiefs, AP family. We need to remember that and act accordingly, me included.

To all the Kool-Aid drinkers; I love each and every one of you! You make it fun to come to AP and debate. You give foor for thought and you help anchor us sometimes, so we don't drift too far off. I hope we do the same thing for you guys. Now get over here and give me a hug!!!!!!!!!!! (-:

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Very good points Kray! wrecked!

Winning begins with Attitude - Haley and Pioli will be winners in KC!

I'll forever be a Chiefs fan! Only God himself could take that away from me, but when I get to my great reward, I'll rejoin two bigger fans, my Mom and Dad.

thanks everyone...I just love AP man.

I do. And i hate it when especially new comers act like I did when I was new (yah I’m a hypocrite). NOW LETS HAVE SOME FUN!!

GO Chiefs!!

So Kray what happens if you are not a Kool Aid drinker, but not a hater! :)

Do I have to live AP limbo?!?

I got to say you can stir up some good debates.

by Helmets on Nov 17, 2009 9:03 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

that's why they make helmets...lol

your camp is the minority in here and therefore not legally recognized. Both camps refuse to acknowledge your existence, instead choosing to think only our two schools of thought deserve any attention.

Thank you for attempting to legitimize your “fence sitters” camp. But since we know your camp has no opinion on anything what so ever, we prefer to let you taste the spaghetti dish and give your feedback on that only.

JUST KIDDING MAN!! Your camp gets a hug too!

by krayfish on Nov 17, 2009 9:12 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Hugs all around!

And personally the more camps the better. I mean if we had more than a freaking two party system in this country we might actually get somewhere. But that’s neither here nor there.

Point is that I fully agree with you.

Or disagree with you.

Or agree to disagree.

Respectfully.

And if we all did agree on everything, all the time? Well hell, that’d be way boring. That’s why nirvana is a bs concept. IT’d become gray real quick if everything was perfect all the time. Then it’d become snooztastic and well, we all know, the Chiefs are anything but snooztastic. Painful at times to watch, but worth cheering for, or yelling at, always.

Good stuff Kray or Chris….whichever you want to be called. Nothing negative….I cant believe it! jk. You took the high road….something our coach cant even seem to ever do.

Then I was picking on you (like we always do with each other) and one of our fellows on here who doesn’t know we always bump heads and it’s always ok with both of us, he jumped my ass something fierce for picking on you lol!!

Rectastic, Kray!

You nailed it man. The best part of AP is reading all the different view points and the debates between people on different sides. We’re rooting for the same team. We all want to see the day when we’re good again. The difference is some choose to focus on pointing out what’s wrong with the team. There’s nothing wrong with that. They are pointing out what needs to be fixed so we can get better. The other side likes to point out what’s right with the team. They look at the positives as something we can build on to get better. We both want the same end result.
The problem is we tend to think the other side is ignoring us. The “negatives” think the “kool aiders” don’t see any problems with the team and the “kool aiders” don’t think the “negatives” will admit that there is anything good about our team.
I have to choose the positive side. I’m so obsessed with the Chiefs that if I only thought about all the problems I’d walk around pissed off all the time. I choose to try and get a little enjoyment out of my team (even when they stink). I do appreciate those who can’t get over the bad product on the field and I love hearing others’ opinions on what needs to be done to fix things.
Great post Kray!

There's a difference between ignoring what the other side says,

Choosing to ignore them, and reflectively listening – then telling them (whomever they may be) why they are wrong. Helping them see the proverbial light right? So here’s to AP reflectively listening to those we disagree with. And then helping them see why they’re wrong :)

my 2 girls and i walked all around....

I think we were in Lot C which is where most people told us to go. We had our own beer & whatnot….tried striking up convos with people & were given the complete cold shoulder. I was highly disappointed.

This was at the Cowboys/Chiefs game.

Other than that, the whole weekend there was awesome….Kansas City Live was sweet…wish we had something like that here. What a hot bartender that bought me a sake bomb….mmmm OH yeah…back to tailgating….not a good experience for me.

Sorry to hear that was what happened.

Most of the time we Kansans and Missourians are accused of being overly friendly and too “familiar”. Sad that you were treated that way. Had I been there, you would have had smiles and hospitality to the max. I had planned on going to that game, but did not make it for various reasons. Oh well, when you come back, you just need to get with the right people.

Well said Krayfish.

I agree wholeheartedly that we need to keep a sense of humor, and perspective, about everything related to this team. Not just this year, either, or last year, but next year and in the years to come (when we’re kicking ass and taking NAMES).

This is FOOTBALL, and it’s our Chiefs—so passionate discussion is going to happen. That’s why AP was created. You’re exactly right: We all need to keep in mind that everyone on here is here for the same reason.

Good work sir. I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Dwayne Bowe will be a 2009 Pro Bowl selection.
Brandon Flowers will have at least 6 INTs in 2009 season.
Todd Haley will have a sideline shouting match caught on TV yelling at one of his asst. coaches.

I find it ironic

that you guys choose to associate yourselves with a delusional cult that all killed themselves. Arrowhead Pride = Jones Town

Delusion and thinking things will get turned around despite evidence to the contrary is why we had Carl Peterson for too long, stuck with LJ, DJ, etc, etc. I enjoy the spirit and think that’s great, but there is a line. I find this site has far too many people who straddle and cross that line into delusion
