Haley and the mistakes
If Todd Haley is going to be a successful head coach in the NFL, his message must remain the same every day. In practice he must scream at anyone who makes an error. Screaming and yelling must be the message on a daily basis, this way on game day, the players know that the screaming will come and they are mentally prepared for it.
I hope I never spill a beer at the Haley house, might end up getting into a rumble with Todd.
Take a pill Todd, it's a football game, not national security. Teach your players and teach yourself. I can see some improvements here and there, but overall I think the team wants to be coached, not yelled at.

Meh!!!
I don’t really care that much about the yelling. Every time I saw him yell, it was justified. Cassel got yelled at after calling a ridiculous timeout. Savage got yelled at BIGTIME after he dropped the easy pass for a 1st down. Carthon got yelled at for calling a timeout that probably cost us 50 yards in total yardage so, I don’t blame him for freaking out. This team SUCKS and needs to get it’s shit together.
Honestly, the yelling seems to be Haley’s most redeeming quality. It sure as hell isn’t his coaching!

I get that when he yelled he was justified
but his behavior is insane. I don’t know that I’d call it a redeeming quality.

The only thing is that you are dealing with men
Predictions for 2009:
The Chiefs will regret cutting LJ
Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.
The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays
Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for
Chiefs 3-13

exactly
These guys are men who should be big enough boys to handle an ass chewing when they deserve it.
Predictions.
1. Tank Tyler will end up surprising everyone and be the anchor of our line.

It goes beyond dealing with men
Truth is, the head coach is THE front-man for the entire organization. When he’s caught on camera time and time again dripping F-bombs, he’s doing it in red and gold. I could give a shit if his coaches and players don’t like it, or if it’s effective or not, but he should be doing it in a much less public way. It shows a lack of respect to the organization as a whole and to the fans. It’s on national TV and catching him in the act of screaming profanity has quickly become a favorite endeavor of the NFL camera guys every weekend. Someone needs to grab the guy by the collar, slap his ass around and say “Hey dumbass, Wake up! Show some respect to those who support you!”

If I met Haley in a bar....
hopefully, he doesn’t have time to go to the bar, but if he did, I’d have a few choice words for him, and would hope and pray he’d stick out his chest and want to man up…. afterall we know how competitive those golfers are…. I wouldn’t mind knocking a few teeth loose.

it's called hyperbole...
in Reality… no normal sane person would just walk up to someone and start talking shit without the aid of drugs or alcohol…..
This was a statement that was meant to be overly exagerrated just to make the point that I don’t like the guy.
I’m sorry I had to explain that to you.
Just as a side point. If it were an NFL player… yeah I’m sure I’d get my ass handed to me… but I’m not so sure I’d be worried about a failed golf pro…. I’m a pretty big dude that’s a combat vet…. I think I’d be alright….

Well sure
the voyeur in me likes the freak show, but the Chiefs fan in me wonders if he’s losing his grip on his own sanity. How well does the team hold up under that? I mean he really started losing it out there!

for the record
Haley was yelling at Bowe, not Cassel. Bowe was lined up wrong and Cassel saw it and knew that if he had snapped the ball, they would have been penalized. That’s why he called the TO. You can actually see Haley say “That’s on you Bowe, you F*********!!!”
by jonnyu on Nov 16, 2009 2:48 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Nope...he said "That's on you Matt..."
your wrong there buddy. But it’s cool. He was 100% yelling at Matt…he used his name and pointed to him.
by krayfish on Nov 16, 2009 3:02 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
The one on Cassel
was when he didn’t get the ball to Charles midsection & handed it to his ribcage. In the redzone it was definitely on Bowe!

hey tt..oh so that's a different one than what I'm thinking?
yah I saw the one where he said that to Matt but not Bowe…hmmm…well he’s mad at everyone pretty much…he’s probably yelling at me right now.
by krayfish on Nov 16, 2009 3:39 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
The one where he yelled at Matt
he didn’t seem as upset. When he got after Bowe, he looked like he was going to kill him.
by jonnyu on Nov 16, 2009 7:54 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
He looked more disappointed than angry at Cassel
But when Bowe lined up wrong he looked like his head was gonna explode.
by ajanzen on Nov 17, 2009 12:29 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Anger
Haley does seem to have anger issues but I noticed that he can cool down very quickly as well. Right after the timeout and Haley’s unfortunate behavior, you could see him coaching Bowe on the particulars of the play. As I understood it, Bowe caused the timeout by lining up wrong. So, as long as Haley can calm down enough to coach his players, then I think showing anger can be a powerful motivational tool; especially if he also gives praise whenever earned. You have to admit that he pats his players on the back when they do something good for the team. I think he makes a strong effort to do so.
In general, I don’t think excessive anger from a head coach is detrimental to the team’s success. Bobby Knight is a pretty good example of that.

Kool aid for everyone.
I will say it again.
Screaming at players and coaches is NOT how to handle it.
The “Head” coach needs to lead by example, not lose it at every turn.

needs to stop be a cry baby bit%h and deal with this. Its football. Its football. Know where and what you need to do as a player and you wont be reprimanded. Everyone says teach teach teach well what do you think the coaches do all week?? sit there and eat bon bons?? Im sure D Bowe was taught 35 times where to be at on that play where Cassel called a timeout cuz bowe wasnt in the right spot. So yes he deserved to be told, what the F are you doing dwayne
by jayball09 on Nov 16, 2009 12:35 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
I agree, I don't know why this is such an issue
If players fail to execute, than I have no problem with them getting yelled at. Look at JaMarcus Russell for example, he was awful Sunday (as usual) and no one got in his face when he messed up and no one was showing him what he did wrong either. When Bowe lined up wrong, Haley yelled at him for it, but then on the sideline showed him what he did wrong. Last I checked holding players accountable and helping them correct their mistakes is the point of having a coach.
Now, say what you will about Haley as a playcaller this year, but the fact that he yells at players is a complete non-deal.

I'm going to say this every time we have this debate
If you don’t want to get yelled at: don’t be lazy, don’t take plays off, don’t get stupid penalties, don’t miss tackles, don’t blow coverage, don’t drop passes, don’t line up for plays wrong, don’t turn the ball over, don’t call time out’s that cost us field position, etc. etc.

which is EXACTLY how I feel.
No more whiney excuses being made for Haley when he sucks. He’s a big boy and he took a big boy’s job that demands a lot of media attention.
Fans have the right and actually the responsibility to speak their minds and their personal opinions of him.

What
was up with Haley telling the running backs coach to F-off after a poorly timed time out by Todd himself? I’m unsure of what the RB coach said, but it was probably on the lines of, " What the fuck are you doing Todd?" I thought that was alittle imature on Haley’s part. I’m sure he realized he fucked up after the Raiders didn’t convert on fourth…..still though

Yea Todd...
stop hurting our feelings and disrespecting us by talking in such a loud voice when we aren’t doing our jobs right, efficiently or effectively! Be complacent in our losses and mellow in our sloppy play.
Verbal reprimands aren’t politically correct Todd! Coddle us!
by butchcassidy on Nov 16, 2009 11:14 PM CST reply actions 1 recs
Sounds like what Herm did. We all see where that got us. Respectable team when he got there, bottom of the barrel when he left.
by Matt89 on Nov 17, 2009 1:03 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
NO butch. We don't want coddling, but you don't cuss out fellow coaches in front of the players
that they are supposed to be leading and need respect from. No different than parenting, you don’t correct one parent in front of the kids. You do it privately.
by krayfish on Nov 17, 2009 7:11 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Well I agree with the sentiment about parenting...
but then in that same light does that make the players on the team impressionable children?
But this is only the first time I’ve seen Todd blow up at a coach and it was with good reason but he should probably turn away from the camera at the very least or give him that stern ’you’re a dumbass’ talking too he gives instead of yelling sometimes.
Haley really does seem to value his timeouts.
by butchcassidy on Nov 17, 2009 1:35 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Hmm
A Coach needs to control his players, not have the players control him, that was HERMS problem, wanted to be everyones buddy, not a Coach.
Haley is the right man for the job. Team is improving, and has a difficult schedual. give the guy a break

question Haley’s coaching all you want.. imagine we still had our allpro players . "Old LJ , TonyG , Jared Allen, Hes taken unknowns, Scrubs.. Guys off the street. and has been turning them into something fierce.. Too bad the oline didnt pan out like we wanted it too. That will be fixed next year for sure.. oh and Jamaal Charles, once he gets used to being an everydown back, he will be rediculous, nofear elusive back, just like Chris Johnson
