Talk me down!

After seeing the monstrosity that took place yesterday in Oakland, I am, for the first time this season, having serious doubts about the head coach of this football team.  I really want Haley to succeed but this guy seems to be in way over his head.  Watching him cuss out his players, assistant coaches and the officials week after week is getting old.  The play-calling seems to be a mixed bag at best and improvement just doesn't seem to be happening.  Somebody, talk me off the ledge!!

Don't get me wrong

I am glad we got the win, but it appears the Raiders lost that game more than we won it

slide over..make room for the rest of us...

I’d rather jump on my own than have Haley beat the life out of me slowly over time…

That wasn’t a win Matt…that was an escape. That was simply not losing, We didn’t win anything. They were more pathetic than we were. That’s not a reason to celebrate. If we were NE, ok. Then when you get a win you didn’t probably earn, your ok, cause your team is solid most of the time. We are the opposite.

We can’t even look awesome for one whole game…ever! I don’t think that just not screwing up as bad and as often as Oakland makes us anything but less shitty than the raiders on Sunday. Horrible performance. If that didn’t open some eyes to how bad Haley is coaching this team, there’s probably no hope. We’ll go on to win 3 more games next year and the same cheering section will be sitting in the bleachers clutching their Haley dolls and crying “Leave Haley alone”.

That game showed the world just how pathetic we are this year. It was an embarrassment.

Sorry buddy

But I was up there way before you were…..No one has come close to being able to talk me down yet..

Predictions for 2009:

The Chiefs will regret cutting LJ

Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.

The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays

Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for

Chiefs 3-13

Settle down, Beavis!

The team is developing, bit by bit. Give the management a full off-season of work, and I think you’ll be optimistic about next year’s team. This year had to be a bad one record-wise; any expectation of a decent year was unrealistic, no matter what the “NO REBUILDING YEAR!” crowd told us.

I tell you what is starting to get me PO'ed

Every time a player screws up the camera quickly goes to Haley. Haley is not the only coach in the NFL that rips his players, uses bad language when talking to them, or gets in their face when they do something wrong. But the media wants to zoom in on Haley just to play his ‘image’ up (and have something to talk about). That’s starting to make me sick. I am not supporting Haley on this issue or against him…I am just sick of this media making it worse by doing things they don’t do with other teams.

I think the play calling is simplistic. I think that is because we have to many new people every week. This week we had Charles, Chambers, Alleman, and Long as the fresh meat. You cannot get into your grab bag as an OC and call a variety of plays when many of your players don’t even know your plays or haven’t played with each other or had reps in practice with the first team for very long. If I am right, then the offense will get slowly better from now until the end of the year. Assuming we know the players we are playing for the rest of the year.

If you want to look at the glass half full…the Raiders have been playing together all year and they cannot beat a team that has a new starting player every game.

They go to the coaches a lot

Haley just doesnt hide it as well as others. Ever since he got dressed down by TO he has made a point to be the one doing the dressing down

If memory serves me, he dressed TO down for a lack of effort...

But I could be wrong there.

Either way, I do agree with Bewsaf on this one. Other notorious yellers—Holmgren and Cowher are right up there—didn’t get the camera shots that Haley does.

The press is looking for an angle; why not focus on personality? Sadly, that’s the best they can do for a KC team with little star power.

Sorry, go_saleaumua...

but I don’t think the facts bear this out. I think if you took tapes of every NFL game for just one weekend and carefully counted the number of times HCs are shown on camera, you’d find that both coaches in each game are shown just about the same number of times… and that each game shows just about the same number of reaction shots.

If prejuidice is shown at all, I’d bet it would have more to do with the side of the field where each coach is located. There are always more cameras on the press box side of the field, which is usually where the home team is located. Therefore, there are more cameras facing the visiting team. Did you notice that during Sunday’s game, most shots of Cable were in profile? That’s because most of the cameras faced Cable’s back; only the end zone cameras and reverse angle cameras could get a good look at him.

I understand why people would think otherwise, though. You didn’t notice it much when Tom Cable was shown during yesterday’s game against the Chiefs, because he didn’t show much emotion on the sidelines; it just didn’t register, because there was nothing to see. Besides… hes’ not our coach. The same goes for the other coaches you mentioned – we just don’t pay as much attention, because they aren’t our guys.

Sorry, Bewsaf

but that just isn’t true. Haley is shown on camera just as much as other coaches are. We saw just as many “reaction shots” of Tom Cable yesterday, too… but because nothing was going on, you didn’t notice them.

There’s no media conspiracy going on here. They are just showing what happens.

agreed, but the commentators do comment on his anger a lot more than other coaches

one guy I can’t remember who it was now, said he was worried for Haley’s safety. I mean they kinda go after the guy. Of course he wouldn’t have to worry about that if he’d calm down a little bit.

by krayfish on Nov 16, 2009 11:54 AM CST up reply actions

It appeared to me that it was going on...

that is why I went back to the tape and got some stats.

By the way, I am pretty sure the stats support my position…I will be coming out with a post about it sometime this week.

YAY!!

ANOTHER Bewsaf post on the way!! Allright. The last one was hilarious. I laughed so hard I can’t remember the last time I laughed that hard at something online. Please throw another one out there. Just don’t forget your humor, it makes your posts awesome!

Thanks for the compliments Kray

I think this particular one is going to be a little dry and informative. The ones I do with humor just sort of hit me…I haven’t been hit yet. :-)
