Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

The Chiefs won the game 16-10, and in many ways the game had absolutely everything you could want from a bad football game.

The Raiders went 2-of-16 on third down and they had the BETTER third-down conversion ratio (the Chiefs converted one of 15). There were 17 punts, five turnovers, 15 penalties, two missed field goals, three quarterbacks crashing into running backs, one quarterback who got yanked, another who got yelled at on numerous occasions, numerous easily-identifiable swear words shouted by coaches, a struggling officiating crew* and, quite literally, countless dropped passes.

Although

Now that I think about it, that fumble by Bowe that got kicked about 20 yards and touched by 12 different players sucked pretty good. The only thing keeping it from being an epic fail was that the Chiefs recovered it.

by ChiefDJ on Nov 15, 2009 8:44 PM CST up reply actions

We managed not to score on that "drive"

epic fail imo

This is my signature line. It is full of awesome and win.

by KCSatchmo on Nov 15, 2009 8:46 PM CST up reply actions

definitely a bad fail

but epic would imply that it couldn’t get any worse, and obviously it could.

The only way that would've been epic suck ...

… is if it’d managed to have been bobbled out of an endzone with no one ever having gained actual possession of it. That could’ve been classic. As it was, it was just pretty good suck.

by JacinB on Nov 15, 2009 9:13 PM CST up reply actions

I am very happy we beat the Raiders

but we still look horrid.

And the player management (Wade, Morgan), play calling, clock management, and game decisions are just as bad as they have ever been.

If things don’t change against the Steelers this next Sunday, it may become the hardest Chiefs game to watch in my lifetime.

Yeah WTF is with benching Wade?

Haley playing favorites with Long because they both should be slot receivers, but Wade is the better player right now. I don’t want to hear B.S. about Long being the poor mans Wes Welker just because he’s a short white guy. Thats where the comparison stops.

And yeah, lets by all means play Leggett as backup Safety instead of DaJuan Morgan who was one of the leading tacklers last week.

by ChiefDJ on Nov 15, 2009 8:59 PM CST up reply actions

Totally agree

I have never, NEVER, had to worry about player deactivations from week to week like I have this year.

I actually become tense concerning them.

Well, at least we still have 4 TE's on the active roster.

Before someone tries to point this out,

I am just continuing my grumpiness about having four TE’s on the 53 man roster.

It's just part of the process.

You know, it’s a numbers game. You have to figure out who should play when and make sure everyone gets a turn.

… or, you know, some other BS that Haley will spew because he has no clue how to build team chemistry or consistency and continues to jack around with the line-up.

by JacinB on Nov 15, 2009 9:15 PM CST up reply actions

we need wade returning punts imo

at least he wont drop them… i dont care if he cant run, if he makes good decisions and doesn’t drop the ball thats good enough for me

And yah I’ve had enough of the Long experiment, the guy can be explosive but Wade is much more trustworthy and a slightly bigger target.

by Lucasjr5 on Nov 15, 2009 9:35 PM CST up reply actions

I think Joe is doing the obligatory smacking of his former "team" to show his independence

I think his comments about Haley were over the top. If you have an employee that you cannot come to terms with keeping them can be more exhausting than dumping them. I say this as one who has tried it both ways.

Other than that I agree with what he said. The refs were the unexpected part of it. It wasn’t like the Chiefs-Raiders games of old where you had lots of personal foul shots happening all over the field. This game should have been easy to call.

I loved ...

… how many times the Refs would call a foul and throw the flag and then talk it over and then be like, “Our bad. There wasn’t really a foul.”

That's right - they should have kept a "dropped flags" stat for this game

Keeps the opponents guessing.

We’re completely unpredictable. You’d expect a 15 yard pass on 3rd and 15, so we run a draw that gets stopped. On a 3rd and one, you expect a run so we throw a big pass. Duh. Like ChiefDJ said, it’s because Haley is an offensive genius and we’re all just too dumb to get it.

That call was in limbo

They were too far away to kick a FG and too close to punt.

I really had no issue with going for it on 4th down in that situation. Going for it on 4th down on the 13 yard line, however, was asinine.

by ChiefDJ on Nov 15, 2009 9:13 PM CST up reply actions

And the MVP of the game is...

Darius Hey-Bey. Seriously. KC looked horrible, and we SHOULD have lost. I give credit for our win to DHB. His catastrophic performance single-handedly turned the tide in our favor.

by Pilcrow on Nov 15, 2009 9:40 PM CST reply actions

even if DHB caught that last pass

there’s no guarantee that they make it in the end zone. he wasn’t going to make it out of bonds so the clock would still be running. sure they prolly would have spiked it, but that would leave about 8-12 secs on the clock depending on how fast they got together. that gives them, if they are quick plays, maybe two plays to punch it in. sure they could have done it, but we could have stopped them as well. with that short of a clock, one mistake would end it all.

Suckitude

Suckishness. Suckatash. Suckafication. Suckanormous. To much sucking to adequately describe. The Black Hole effect of gravitational suck.

But damn it’s nice to get a W.

Chiefs go 9-7. LJ makes 1400 yards. DBowe makes 1200 yards. Defense #18.
10/28--The Koolaid buzz is beginning to wear off. Maybe drop this back to my original thoughts on the year. Chiefs go 6-10 (and that my be optimistic!). LJ gets a restraining order to stay 1400 yards away from the Chiefs. I'll let the rest stand for now.

did anyone see that Bill Belichick had an enforcer that ran next to him at the end of the indy game and pushed away any camera men that got close? He took a camera man and swung him on the ground glanced back and jogged on without seeing if the guy was ok. This isn’t a police officer or normal security.
