Chiefs Will Be Short One LB Against the Raiders

Unfortunately, LB David Herron will be ruled out with a knee injury of some sorts.  Herron has missed the entire week of practice so this isn't something we didn't see coming.

We're not sure what the injury is exactly.

The rest of the Chiefs were upgraded to probable.

OL Wade Smith (ankle) and LB Mike Vrabel (hip) were both listed as limited participants yesterday.  Both have been upgraded to probably today, which means it's a virtual certainty they'll be available to play against the Raiders.

FS Jon McGraw (thigh), LB Jovan Belcher (head) and WR Chris Chambers (foot) were listed as probable and expect to be available.

So that means there's seven inactive spots remaining for the game on Sunday.  As Josh Looney pointed out today, it's "overwhelmingly" likely returning LB Justin Rogers will be active over LB Pierre Walters.

Along with Herron, QB Matt Gutierrez will likely be inactive (3rd QB), one of the WRs will be inactve, likely an offensive lineman will be inactive....who else could be inactivated on Sunday?  We need eight.

Nice...

“Chiefs will be shortone LB against Raiders” and you put up a picture of Vrabel.

Luckily I wasn’t too lazy to read beyond the headline this time.

Well

We’re encouraged to use this Associated Press pool of photos we have but not all players are there and we put up so many posts we cycle through them pretty quickly. Don’t worry, though, we’ve got a deal with another major image provider coming shortly.

Maybe 2-3 TE's

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09
And Succop will be the Key in two of them.

Two TEs is possible

I believe there were two inactive last week.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 13, 2009 6:11 PM CST up reply actions

It must be the new math....

By my calculations: 53 man roster – 46 (45 active + 1 emergency QB) = 7 inactive.

I just hope they dont keep deactivating Ndukwe.

I dont see the point. They have done it twice and the first time we found ourselves in trouple and had to play Wade at LT in a tight game. The second time Goff got hurt. That time Alleman stepped up but realistically we should have had Ike in both those games. It doesnt make sense to healthy scratch your lineman so you can have 4 extra special teams players in case one goes down. I say this week should be:

1 Guitierrez. He is a given almost weekly
2 Walters or Rogers. (Not sure why Looney thinks we go with a guy with maybe a weeks worth of practice though)
3 Oconnel. Dont need him barring injury
4 Cottam. Same as Oconnel. Hes barely on the field when active
5 Bradely. Wade did his time last week and also Wade did well against Oak last time.
6 Richardson. Washington sat last week and Richardson continued to do poorly. I say Washington plays just to help with the evaluation.
7. Herron. Obviously he is hurt.
8 Magee. He will likely play but I think we need Daniels this week more than we need Magee.

Rogers

is special teams ace. Last year when he was with the Cowboys he was third in tackles on ST.

no but for real..who?

I didn’t even know that guy. Gutty is out?? How did he get hurt when he’s 3rd team?? OMG! Do we have a QB that won’t get injured?

Now…..we’ll be fine on Sunday. We don’t need them.

Gutty has been inactive every week if I am not mistaken.

Haley just doesnt activate him. Hes not hurt though.

any chance DJ gets a start?

I do hope so … I think the guy has earned it

I'm indifferent to the term "start" on this front.

I see #56 getting more and more snaps. This, too, is a process. While we wring our hands over DJ’s situation, the longer he’s healthy and the better he plays, the more minutes he gets. It all good.

No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

Pierre

Pierre may not be active for the game, but I’m still happy as hell he’s on the team. We haven’t talked about him for a while.

I don't understand the man-love for Walters, just yet.

But I’ve liked Gilberry’s work, and he’s starting to get some positive mention from others, which is cool.

I thought he was a great UDFA signing for us since he originally had a 5th round grade...

but he has yet to show me anything. Frankly Im not sure if I can recall ever seeing him on the field.

Funny thing is I never even heard of Belcher.

He's mostly been inactive in the regular season, so you're right.

Gotta get him some playing time to actually see something from him. But hey, can’t knock a guy who bothers to join AP right? Even if he doesn’t post anymore.
