At 6-2, 268 pounds, Gilberry is certainly an undersized defensive end by NFL standards. Gilberry’s stature, however, hasn’t been the only uphill battle to climb. He was a long shot to make an NFL roster after going undrafted in 2008, following a standout college career at Alabama. Obviously, his size played a role in that. In fact, Gilberry produced at such a high level in college that he left Alabama as that historic football program’s second leading tackler behind the line of scrimmage (60.5 tackles for loss). Only one man logged more tackles behind the line for the Crimson Tide - LB Derrick Thomas (74.0).

It's always struck me as strange how the powers that be tried to convert Turk McBride (6-2, 278) into a LB and kept Gilberry (6-2, 268) as a DE when they were the same height and McBride was 10lbs heavier. It's worked out for Gilberry so far but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't try him at LB next season or trade him for draft picks.

I like Gilberry where he is.
He’s a speed/stunt runner and it’s worked well for him thus far this year. He’s been a nice surprise.

But,
if he is moved to OLB to replace Vrable, I think we could get more pressure on the QB with him and Tambi playing together on more downs.
Vrabel's spot isn't really his skillset.
Mike constantly drops into coverage. Very rarely does he rush the passer. He also is very stout against the run. Gilberry struggles with NFL run blockers and I’ve yet to see him drop into coverage. Part of the reason that he gets free to rush the passer is because Tamba intentionally eats his blocker to set him free.
If you want to put him as an OLB, Tamba’s spot is a better fit, as Tamba’s more a pass rusher than a coverage/run blocker.

Then Y doesn't he try moving to OLB
i like that idea.. He’s pretty fast.. If he could adjust to covering well i think it’d be worth a shot..
oh!! didn't see that at the bottom.. sorry
i agree… He’s almost at the right weight already..
I want 20 sacks by the end of the year
and I want them all from Wallace Gillberry!

Okay, I'm all for that.
Does the rest of the defense have to take the time off while Ding monsters over all the offenses for the rest of the year, or can they get some sacks too?
LOL they must be on a break already
everyone except gilberry and hali
Touche
It’s blown my mind why they didn’t try Turk out as a 3-4 DE. He’s played all over the defensive line, one would think it’d make him more eligible for the transition than Gillberry.

Gilberry is pretty cool. I think he needs more playing time.
Chiefs reception leaders:
Dwayne Bowe: 27 receptions for 375 yards/4 TD's
Bobby Wade: 20 receptions for 226 yards/2 TD's
Jamaal Charles: 17 receptions for 139 yards
Mark Bradley: 16 receptions for 189 yards/1 TD
Why would we trade Gilberry
He is a beast, I sy keep him @ DE too. We need a good rotation. I wouldnt mind if we drafted Suh as well.
OHANA!
