If Todd Haley loses the game against the Raiders I'm on the fire Todd Haley bandwagon.. I wanted Kirk Ferentz this off season anyways. But I will admit that I like Haley's approach, he just sucks at being a head coach

Ehh

I just think he needs to hire an O Coordinator and it would help him out a lot
Any good ones going to be available next season?

by tomahawk44 on Nov 12, 2009 6:26 PM CST reply actions

Exactly!

Give the job to Maurice Carthon already.

by Bra on Nov 12, 2009 6:47 PM CST up reply actions

What O coordinator could handle working under that egotistical moron?

Haley will never have an OC bcause his massive ego tells him there isn’t an OC alive that’s better than he is.. For all our sakes I hope I’m wrong but more than halfway into the season and this is the conclusion I draw as a bystander

i'm sure he will hire an oc in the offseason

but it will be someone who knows HIS offense, which makes sense to me. i can’t think of too many offensive head coaches who have someone running a different offense than what they are comfortable with. i wouldn’t be surprised if he kept the play calling duties (which i am ok with) this guy is not stupid or egotistical. he will have more options this offseason than he did last year to make some better assistant coach decisions.

The only players I hurt with my words are the ones who have an inflated opinion of their ability. I can't worry about that.

Not that fast

I believe once Scott Pioli declares that he has built the team he believes can go all the way then Todd will have 1 chance with that right 53 man team to get it done.

THIS^^^^^^

I agree

I will call for Haleys head if we cant beat the Raiders by a TD.

The "Right 53" is a load of crap

If you get sweeped by the Raiders even with the talent we have on our team it doesn’t matter who’s on your team your a piece of shit coach.

How are supposed to develop players if we have an idiot leading the charge?

NO KIRK FERENTZ!!!!!!

I have grown up hating the Iowa Hawkeyes so that being said, I fallow them just to hate them even more. I just think that nothing would ever turn me away from the Chiefs being my team of 26 years, except for the hiring of one Kirk Ferentz.

by chiefs316 on Nov 12, 2009 6:50 PM CST reply actions

You'd stop being a Chiefs fan

because we get a solid coach instead of a crappy one? I think you want to be a Raiders fan

Is why he has the lowly hawkeyes in the BCS

running a pro style offense instead of the gimmick spread and losing their star running back to the draft.. While there are many that fall to the rule I believe Ferentz will be the exception. But really there’s no argument cuz Ferentz will never leave Iowa

In a very weak Big 10 this year.

Saban, Petrino, Spurrier, Erickson, Butch Davis, Rich Brooks, Mike Riley, Lou Holtz I would argue that all of these guys were as good if not better coaches than Ferentz. But none of them did well at all, in fact some of them infamously crashed and burned.

College coaches have succeeded and actually thought about it earlier today.

Seems like today’s NFL the head coach is generally more of a CEO than X’s and O’s. I’m guessing that’s why so many of the college coaches fail, they just can’t let go of that aspect of thinking they can outcoach the guy on the opposite sideline.

I used to work with an old man that told me. Son, every workplace has a dumbass, if you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.

I love Ferentz

I think he is probably one of the best coaches on the planet. He gets 2 and 3 star recruits and coaches them up so that they can compete with teams full of 4 and 5 star recruits. However, that only works when you have players with the right work ethic. Part of the reason his players work so hard for him is because they are 2 and 3 star recruits that have had to work their butts off to make it into Div. 1 football. I don’t know that he would have the same success if he had a team full of NFL pre-madonas. Essentialy, Pioli would have to do the same thing he is doing for Haley which is fill the team with players that will work hard and listen to their coaches.

who are the 1989 dallas cowboys?

Ding Ding Ding Ding

Correct!

I’m guessing there were a lot of Cowboys fans on the “fire Jimmy Johnson band wagon” after a season like that. Good thing for them Jerry Jones didn’t listen. One year is just not enough to judge, even if they lose to the Raiders by 20+ points.

I totally agree with you man. People will try and dog us b/c they think we are looking at things in a pessimistic way. In all reality we are just looking at things as realists. Haley has shown me nothing as a head coach. His take no bullshit way of handling things is ok. Honestly I’d rather have had Herm this year than him. Herm found and evaluated talent pretty damn good, he just wasn’t a good clock manager (or that good of a coach on gameday).

Pioli and Haley’s egos have broken down this team, in good and bad ways. Mostly bad. When I first read Whitlock’s columns about them being childish and “ego” stricken, I thought, “eh screw Whitlock, he’s always got something bad to say.” Now I realize he was about spot on. If it is true that they put a word out there that Pollard was a darkspot and would be on any team, that is pretty ridiculous, and yes childish.

Screw getting a college coach. We need to pick up Cowher, or Jimmie Johnson, or hell even Shanahan. Haley ain’t cuttin it. His egos too big for the sideline, and his playcalling has been decent, AT BEST. Something needs to be done if it doesn’t get better.

by ChiefsFanInTexas on Nov 12, 2009 10:25 PM CST reply actions

I find it funny you mention Jimmy Johsnon...

Haley reminds me of Jimmy Johnson. The Cowboys only won one game his first year, and he is a task master that pisses off his players.

You can have a rehashed coach, but name one coach in the history of the NFL that had the same kind of success with a second team that they had with their first.

Fair enough...

but unlike those guys, Belichick didn’t have initial success. My point is that coaches peak, and when they leave the team that they peak with that they never really have that kind of success again.

firing todd haley at this this point of his tenure would be stupid

the guy’s 8 games into a total rebuild. most fans wanted to blow up the herm edwards experiment and we did so now we have to build a real foundation for the future. getting rid of the coach this soon would just lead to another person doing the same. in other words, we become a team like the raiders or redskins instead of a team like the steelers who will hire a coach and stick with them to see the plan out. i keep saying that i make no guarantees about whether or not haley will be a good coach but he needs 2 years minimum to prove whether or not he is or isn’t. all this crap about haley’s ego is unfounded. (unless someone here has had actual interaction with the guy) in fact, when you watch him at his press conferences, he comes across very intelligent and knows the value of having good coaches around him and good mentors. hardly a characteristic of an egomaniac. also, winning or losing one game (even if it’s to the raiders) shouldn’t sway your opinion of whether or not he’s a good coach. most people would argue that oakland actually has more talent than we do anyway. i expect we’ll win but i won’t jump off any bandwagons or bridges if they lose.
