Team Perspective, Breakdown Position by Position. (Offense Pt1)
Allright for this article i am going to give a little perspective on each position on the field and where we stand. It should be interesting, i'm sure many will disagree with me,but hey...what are blogs for? at the end of each analysis i will have a need for improvment where i rate from 1-10, 1 being no imrovment needed in personell terms and 10 being top priority) so here goes nothing.
Quarterback- I'm a big Matt Cassel fan. His QB rating is about 77 right now. Take away his two bad games (oakland,SD) his rating would be about what it was last year. I think he is the QBOTF and could lead this team to many wins in the future. (need for Improvment 2)
via wassupsports.files.wordpress.com
Running Back- This is a tough one.I like both Kolby Smith and Jamal Charles. But could they be an adequate 1-2 punch? thats yet to be seen, conisdering Smith's injury. I hope they pan out well, but as of now...ihave to say the position will need to be adressed in the future. (Need for improvement- 6)
Fullback- I think Cox is an average Fullback. He seems to do well blocking and hopefully is stable enough to not have to put any attention in this area. He's no tony Richardson though.(NFI - 4)
Wide Reciever #1.- Dwayne Bowe, all the potential in the world but sometimes lacks making big plays. I like him but hopefully age will brin him stability. We SHOULD be good at this position for years to come. (NFI- 2)
via www.mkrob.com
Wide Reciever #2- I was a huge fan of the Chris Chambers pick up. and judging by his 3 catch 2 touchdown game as his first game as a chief, this move has potential. Unfortunately, he is 31 years old. In my opinion he will play well for 2-3 more years. Thus we need to start looking for a replacment fairly soon. (NFI-7) because of age
Wide Reciever #3.- Lance Long/ Bobby Wade- I like both of these guys. THey both play hard and are good targets. to me we're set right here for at least a while. ( Need for Improvment 4)
via www.kcchiefs.com
Tight End- Sean Ryan? are you kidding me ? we need to improve this position. Ryan just is not gonna cut it. perhaps draft one this next draft...but we need an upgrade (NFI-9)
via www.inkkc.com
Left Tackle- Branden Albert is a big guy who has in my opinion had a solid year and so far a solid career. I think he can and will remain our LT and will do a great job. (NFI- 2)
Left Guard- Brian Waters is a beast but i tthink he is starting to run out of gas. Hes still one of our best Offensive Lineman but he just doesn't seem to be as dominant as years past. im giving him about 2-4 years at most. (NFI- 7) Bc of age of waters
Center- Rudy Niswanger is a huge guy for a center. Lots of people do not like him but i actually think he's played decently well. No not a pro bowler but i like his progress. (NFI-6)
Right Guard- i know Goff found his way to the IR (this may be a blessing) but RG play this year has been horrible. Hopefully either Alleman or Ndukwe will show some stability, but with how the position has played out so far this year (NFI- 10)
Right Tackle- - I dont think hes played neccesarily bad, but it hasn't been good either. i think we need a good RT very soon to mend our oline, High draft choice May be in store. (NFI-8)
allright, so in order of priority we need a: Right Guard, Tight end, Right Tackle , WR#2, Left Guard, Halfback.
Some of those positions listed above have decent stopgap players or veterens running out of gas, but they will eventually need to be adressed
Hope you enjoy. I'll be coming out with a defensive one fairly soon.

I actually think that TE and RG are easily the best places to improve :)
The WR position is shaping up.
The O-Line might round into decent shape by the end of the season.
Now on the O-side of the ball.
We NEED a Zone-blocking O-line coach!
We NEED a Dedicated QB coach to interface Haley and Cassel!
We NEED a OC-spotter in the booth for Haley to Scheme with and have another set of eyeballs on what is going on! If Carthon ends up that dude, We need a RB coach

Brian Waters out of Gas?
Brian Waters is the best player on the chiefs PERIOD! End of discussion. I kinda see where your coming from, but the point to be made is Brian Waters has stuck out his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He has been here through all of our good times, and bad times. I love Brian so much I almost want him to leave to a New England or Colts team to see him win. He’s one of my Faviorite guys and he deserves to win.
On another note I fully agree with the Ryan point. Though it was funny how every one was saying he was a bright spot on the chiefs earlier in the year and now that Cassel has learned to spread the ball around, he hasn’t done much of anything. He plays hard, but some times that just not enough.
well... I don't know that I'd say "the best, period"
Waters has actually played better than we thought, when you look at specific breakdowns on the OL.
Ryan was briefly a bright spot at the end of camp and begininng of the season, but has gotten worse

i like waters alo also
i just think hes nowhere near asmuch of a beast as he once was. Hes still def our best olineman. him and albert are hands down. hes just starting to slow down with age. thats all im saying. so we should get a development player to work under him until he feels it is his time to go.
Waters is 30 I think
Should hold down a spot on the interior line for 4 more years IMO.
Put some talent around him and his Exp will make up for the little slower pace.
Damn the interior guys play in like a 10 yard phone booth :)

We need to move Albert Inside
I supported Albert @ LT when everyone was bashing him but he is not playing well. We will see, I think our o line could be good with Albert @ LT but Great with Albert @ LG. Evertime I watch a Chiefs game, I feel like O Kung should be the pick, and you can ask anyone on here, Ive advocated Berry more then most.
OHANA!
Also
I think Rudy and O Cal could be very good depth. We should definitly keep those two even if we draft a couple interior linemen.

Nice.
I think you need good players in the interior, and dominant players on the flanks. O’Callaghan would be very solid depth at tackle, and I think Niswanger would make a very good starting guard, who could slide to C in a pinch. This is like Albert’s 2nd rookie season, with the trim-down. I’m sittin’ the fence. Don’t feel qualified to judge. Just when I’m writing him off, I’ll watch some tackle I consider to be very very good gettin’ his ass handed to him by a premier pass rusher, and I have to remind myself that shit happens to any left tackle, time to time.
Was going to disagree with deflep on need for RB, but inasmuch as he put RB at the end of a list including virtually the entire front line, maybe I won’t.
Bottom line on O-Line is C and RT, to my eye. I think the current roster already has guys who will be manning the G spots quite well for years to come, with or without Brian Waters. Optimum might be to draft a high-probability upgrade at left tackle and move Albert to the right tackle spot, imvho.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
meh
Berry on D FTW

I would be happy with either
Both of them would be filling a posistion of need. I would even be happy with Suh. As long as were getting a great player over a good player we have to reach for. I think Suh could play NT, He occupies blockers just like a NT. Plus he only weighs like 12 pounds less then most NTs, but he makes up for it with speed.

Not sold on Rudy.
Some of that could be the really poor RG play though. Thanks for the post .
