This is a pretty good story.
Yesterday the Kansas City Chiefs re-signed linebacker Justin Rogers. The team originally signed him on October 14th, held him on the roster for a week of practice, then released him. On October 20th, the team signed and released him within 24 hours..
So, when he got the call yesterday morning, where was he?
In a tree in Basehor, Mo. No, really, in a tree.
He had been hunting since about 5:30 AM yesterday morning and when he got the call from his father, "I shuffled down the tree and headed over here to practice."
Practice started at about 11:00 AM so Rogers made the trek from Basehor, MO. I imagine head coach Todd Haley and/or GM Scott Pioli told him not to go too far in the instance something like this happens.
"Drove straight here," he said, "and suited up."
Welcome back, Mr. Rogers.
H/T Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star for the story.
