Where the Chiefs Rank: Week 9
It's time for our weekly check in on how the Kansas City Chiefs rank against the rest of the NFL. We're halfway through the season so we can throw out all of the excuses we've been using - not enough data, we played the NFC East, etc.
To get you primed a bit for the always exciting stats after the jump, here are a few tidbits that may interest you about the Chiefs:
- The Chiefs rank #2 in the NFL in rushing attempts up the middle and rank 26th in average gain on those rushes. Will that change with Larry Johnson gone? Probably and we'll be watching.
- Opponents run up the middle against the Chiefs more than any other team and only have a ranking of 15th in average gain to show for it.
- The Chiefs allow the second least amount of yards per play on short passes across the middle. Linebacker play?
- I didn't even realize that the Chiefs rank last in the NFL in interceptions.
One note I need to mention is that the previous week's rankings that are in parentheses are from two weeks before the Jaguars game. I didn't want to include the rankings during a week the Chiefs didn't play.
I've got a whole bunch of rankings, after the jump.

Mays and Williams have been doing a fine job stopping the run up the middle
They are very aggressive. The problem I have noticed is that if a runner cuts back or the offense runs a counter that the Chiefs often get smoked.

makes you ever wonder if any of the refs ever think that during a game..lol
Winning begins with Attitude - Haley and Pioli will be winners in KC!
I'll forever be a Chiefs fan! Only God himself could take that away from me, but when I get to my great reward, I'll rejoin two bigger fans, my Mom and Dad.

Can't get INT's...
Because of all the blitzing…Me, I would rather have INT’s than sacks. We led the turn-over battle a lot last year and it didn’t add up to wins…So maybe I’m wrong.
No one ever says, "It's only a game" when their team is winning.
