Mock Draft

1st Round-Eric Berry FS Tennessee

The explanation to this one is simple, He's probably the best prospect in the entire draft and is virtually an Ed Reed clone. If anyone watched the Cowboys game or any Chiefs game for that matter, you would have most likely have seen Mike Brown take a horrible angle and give up a big play.

2nd Round- Jerry Hughes OLB TCU

He is as productive as any pass rusher in the draft and is made for the 3-4. He had 15 sacks last year and is on pace for another statistically dominant season

2nd Round- Mike Iupati OG Idaho

I will be honest and say that I havent had the chance to catch many Idaho games, but he is supposed to be the best guard in the draft so I'll pencil him in as our second round pick but he could go earlier.

3rd Round- Bruce Campbell OT Maryland

Big strong fast, he is probably the most physically gifted offensive lineman in the draft. He is a Junior but he may declare. He is said to be like vernon davis- all you could ask for physically but has lacked the production.

4th Round- Jacoby Ford WR Clemson

this guy is a track star and will most likely run sub 4.4 at the combine. If anyones seen the lack of speed in the Wide Receiving core then he may be the verticle threat we're looking for

5th Round- Myron Rolle SS Florida State

What can I say, I love this guy. Dude is a Rhodes Scholar and probably the smartest player in the draft. What he lacks in speed he makes up for in hard work and physicality

6th Round- LeGarrett Blount RB Oregon

he may have acted like another recently departed running back for the Chiefs but if he can run as hard as Larry did at the start of his career then I'll say its a win

7th Round- Jack Geiser LS Boston College

this guy has everything you could ask for in the long snapping department. Velocity, a very tight spiral on the football and is a team leader. This ones more of a joke because I have no Idea who we would draft as our 7th round pick but If we do take him, Geiser to Succop could go down as the greatest combination in the history of the NFL

Everything is great...

except the fact that we most likely don’t have a 6th and 7th round pick and instead we have two 5th round picks. A very different mock from what I did earlier today but I do think it is just as viable because everything is a shot in the dark at this point in time.

oh boy ... this makes Mock Draft #43,592

and it’s still November

I’d so love to see someone do a chart of all the mock drafts … a spreadsheet, with all the names and all the rounds that everyone is picking … how many say Okung 1st round, how many say Berry, etc …

the best part will be how many Mock Drafters will be dead wrong on every pick

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!

This Mock is my Dream...

That will never happen. Bruce Cambell is early 2nd, Hughes is late first, Mike Iupati is early 2nd. Im not saying it doesnt happen but if it did that would be sweet.

OHANA!

Jacoby Ford is a beast man......

He would be an awesome return guy for us. Not sure if we should use a 4th on that position, but we can dream.

what I see the best case FA and 1st 3 Rds plus late rd guys who could help

FA pick ups at TE Watson, LB Dansby, NT Wilfork, and 1 O-Line Probable Mankins.

Draft
1st RD Berry, McCoy, Okung or Cody. (McCoy would be my pick)
2nd Lefell WR LSU or Black OT ( I take Lefell)
2nd Decker WR Minn, Gerhart RB Stanford or OL. (I go OL)
If we take Berry Rd 1 and Lefell 1st pick rd 2 Than best O-Line still available witch is a deep draft at O-Line very likely scenario for 2nd rd 2 selection
Rd 3 Norwood OLB SC, Gerhart if still available, or S. (I take S)
If we take Okung Rd 1, Lefell Rd 2 and Gerhart Rd 2 than look for S here there will still be playmakers avail at S expecially Florida State S who took year off major prospect still on board.
No matter what with FA s and the First three rounds of the draft we should really upgrade our team.
When I look at this my best case scenario would be take Berry Rd 1 then get Lefell Rd 2
and take Gerhart second pick of Rd two and then spend the rest of the draft minus one 5th Rd pick on O-Line.Use one 5th rd pick to get our Return specialist many Very good returners available this year James Florida, Holliday LSU, #85 TCU, VT has a couple that list is pretty long Ford and others.

Ingram or Gerhart are the only Rbs I would take for the Chiefs this year. We may not need one if Charles takes over and Savage, Smith or Williams can prove to be a good complement back we don’t need one. other option if Charles takes over bring in FA RB such as White to spell Charles.
If we get FA RB look for one second Rb pick to be an O-Lineman.
So we could very easily fill the holes we have at OLB, G, TE, RB, and NT through FA then fill other holes at S, WR, C, KR/PR, and depth at O-Line throught the draft. If we take McCoy with are first rd pick we have a Qb who will impact the game such as a Steve Young with his Arm and Athletic ability.
Berry would be great but I do not have faith in Cassel and would rather lock down our Franchise QB and no doubt McCoy is one of the Caliber that would fit right in with Brees, Brady, Mannings and Company. Also FS safety who took this year off is in my opinion if not as good as Berry he is close and should fall to atleast rd 3.

There is simply no way that the Chiefs would draft a QB first round

Way, way too many holes on this team that need to be addressed with high round talent to blow a possible top 5 pick on a position we’re already relatively strong at and have already spent a decent chunk of money on.

agreed, soria

NO QB in this draft

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

by stagdsp on Nov 11, 2009 1:17 PM CST up reply actions

Wow....

Norwood in the 3rd, McCoy in the 1st. Colt McCoy will get drafted in the 3rd at best. Brees, Manning, and Brady should

OHANA!

Not To Mention

The last Texas QB to get drafted in the first round hasn’t done all that well. Texas doesn’t exactly run an offense that develops QBs for the pro game.

You can't compare Vince Young

to pretty much any other texas QB to come out..
The only one that familiar to young coming out is tebow.. And alot of people think he won’t even stay at QB.. I think colts upside is better than most..

What Upsode Biggy?

He cant throw as good as any other starter in the league and cant run as good as vince. So your right you cant compare him to vince. They do have about even Arms.

Jacoby ford = Darrius Heyward-Bey

Great Legs, medicore hands, terrible head. Pass.

by NCChiefs on Nov 11, 2009 12:50 PM CST reply actions

I think most people want him as KR/PR

And we have no deep threat if we can teach him to catch he’d be a great asset.. Not to mention Raiders don’t exactly coach their players..

by Kcbiggyblue on Nov 11, 2009 2:32 PM CST up reply actions

this is a great mock draft

the only thing is i think 2-3 of them will be taken sooner than you have them listed.. Von MIller or Jerry Hughes would be great in the early second..

by Kcbiggyblue on Nov 11, 2009 1:00 PM CST reply actions

I agree with this draft

The problem with the LT in the draft is that they aren’t as good as the past couple of 1st round drafted LT. Berry has to be the answer. He is an outstanding FS who has great cover skills and is very effective in run support. FS like this don’t come round very often, so I think we should jump on him. I don’t think that Hughes will still be around in the 2nd round. I see us maybe trading 1 of our 2nds and 1 of 5ths to move back into the bottom of the 1st round to get him. If you put him on the other side of Hali with a much inproved secondary, with the addition of Berry at FS, I think our D will be heading in the right direction. Then we can go after free agent nose tackle Vince Wilfork (New England). Oh man, if this happens, LOOK OUT!!!
On the offensive side of the ball we can use our other second round pick to take the best available OL. If it is a tackle put him or Abert at LT and the other one at LG. Move Waters from LG to center. Great LGs can usually move to center and prolong their careers. Keep O’Callahan at RT. Get rid of Goff. He is horrible!!! Man, I wish I could make all this happen. I’m sure Pioli will do something like this. I hope.

MATT CASSEL

For all you people out there who think that Matt is not at the level of “Franchise QB” need to stop talking. I’m not saying that he is in the same group as the elite QB’s in the league. If anyone watches the games then you will agree the he plays very well when his passes are actually caught or if he is able to stand up right and throw the ball. Against JAC, when the game was clearly out of reach, JAC was only bringing pressure with 4 people. Our line was actually able to block and he marched us right down the field, twice. You also have to think that is they are only bringing 3 or 4 people there are 7 or 8 people in pass coverage. Even with that many people he completed passes left and right. FIX THE OL and you will see that he is a very good QB who deserves move time to prove it. Stop talking about drafting a QB. It aint’ gonna happen. Why gamble on a rookie QB, who are successful only about 20% of the time, when the QB we have is getting sacked every time he turns around. If we do take a QB he will have the same problems because we wouldn’t have fixed the real problem.

by WeSUCK on Nov 11, 2009 3:27 PM CST reply actions

I dont think most people dis like cassell

He is what he is, He will throw about 30% on passes 30 yds or more and 75 on 20 and yess.
