What I have Noticed
You wanna know what I have noticed every good team has a receiver with good hands and a speed receiver or speed 2 receivers, like these teams.
Colts Reggie Wayne and Anthony Gonzalez
Steelers Santonio Holmes and Hines Ward
Eagles DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin
Patriots Wes Welker and Randy Moss
Texans Kevin Walter and Andre Johnson
Falcons Michael Jenkins and Roddy White
Vikings Bernard Berrian and Percy Harvin
You see what im try to say we need to fix this you dont need to have 5 star offensive line if you have these good receivers because you have a deep threat and a 3rd down threat and are slot looks good with Lance Long going over the middle I have made a list of receivers who could help us have a deep threat like Larry Fitzgerald and Aquian Boldin.
Free Agency/Draft
1 Antonio Bryant Fast athlectic reciver runs good routes would be a good tandem with Dewayne Bowe and Antonio number 2 then Lance over the middle.
2 Jacoby Ford Draft Clemson would be a match made in heaven with a 1-2 punch with Dewayne Bowe and Jacoby.
3 Steve breaston Just like Jacoby Ford it would a good threat to have on our team.

It's usually a given
To have a good hands/route guy and a speed guy on the other side to stretch the defense. It’s not such a big topic when you’re QB can’t stay off the ground long enough to throw the deep ball.

....
DBowe+Jacoby Ford+Lance+Matt Cassel= a hell of a threat.

Have to disagree...
Peyton could win with a pylon, a bucket and a net.
Santonio only shows up half the games and Ward the other half.
Maclin and Jackson are almost the identical style WR.
Welker and Moss are a good example of that. So gold star here.
Walter and Johnson I guess you could make a half argument for but Johnson is a freak and it doesnt matter who’s opposite him.
The last two examples Id say are more situations where both teams have great running games and tight ends and one good/great wr.

Maclin vs Jackson
Maclin is bigger, and makes the tougher catch
Jackson just runs by EVERYONE
They are a little different… but I’d take either one on the Chiefs… or even a guy in the BALLPARK of either one!

* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

Here is the Real reason why those teams are good
Colts Peyton Manning
Steelers Steelers Defense and Roelthlisberger
Eagles Eagles Blitzing Defense and Andy Reid
Patriots Patriots are only good because of Welker and Moss
Texans Their whole offense is good
Falcons Read above
Vikings Vicious attacking Defense, and AdP
Of course good teams will have good receivers, but thats not the only reason those teams are good offensively.

I guarantee every one of those teams has a far better OL than we do
That is the key, not the receivers they have. Our receivers would be far better if the shitty OL we have was able to give Cassel enough time to allow routes to develop and throw a good ball.

BTW
I voted “your an idiot” mostly because you gave us the option and it sounded fun! But, mostly I just think you’re off base with your conclusion.

I disagree too...
It would be awesome to have another stud receiver to compliment DBowe, but I feel like receiver is a luxuray move for us this off season. I think we have to focus on other needs that are necessary for success like OL, S, OLB, RB…
Trying to see the big picture.

WR duos don't equate, but they do correlate.
Sometimes it’s a chicken-egg thing, too. Steelers are special because of Big Ben, who gives his guys extra seconds, with or without protection from his O-Line.
You can also give yourself an edge with a great RB, who can catch and YAC like a WR, for instance, Westbrook. Philly has done a lot in McNabb’s time, but have always struggled up front and always fallen short of winning it all. They supposedly changed all that with Jason Peters at LT and a high draft pick at RT. Last I heard, one or both of ’em were hurt, and Philly was back to high potential, but questionable o-line. Is Peters back? Are they back on track up front?
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

it deffinatly
dosent hurt to have a speed threat and a big sure handed guy,but i think its just more having two solid recievers

I'd Hardly say
Anthony Gonzalez is a good WR at this point in his career. I could look good with Peyton throwing to me.
You’ll also notice, if you pay real close attention, that not only do all those teams (minus the eagles) have good running games.
Oh, and on that list there are 4 Super Bowl winning QBs

regarding Anthony Gonzalez
why do you say that? he hasn’t played all year due to injury

re
Even though those guys are fast they still need more time, like a whole second, to let a deep rout develope. that’s the hardest thing for an oline to do.

Each and every one of those teams
Have a QB at least 10x better than ours.
Predictions for 2009:
LJ breaks Chiefs all time rushing record at home
Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.
The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays
Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for
Chiefs 6-10

You could put the best 4 receivers in football on a team....
But if the OL can’t block for long enough for one of them to get downfield you AREN’T going to have a deep threat.
