What do you guys think about Albert as a the long-term answer at LT?
The only player I am impressed with as an upgrade in the draft this year is Okung but I think we should give Albert at least one more year to develop.
If he plays well the second half of the year we are open to drafting the best available player in rounds 1 and 2. I have been impressed with O'Callaghan and although we could use more depth I actually see no reason to draft a tackle in the first 2 rounds. Is this wishful thinking or are we a few guards, center, and blocking TE away from looking like a real offense?

Albert has a chance to be very good
Lots of big adjustments for him this year (the weight loss, new system, etc)
I still have a lot of hope for him.
However, I wouldn’t be upset to see a new LT drafted… that’d be a good problem to have.
I honestly think that this OL is 2 players away from being solid… a new Center, and a new RG.
They should draft a Center for sure, and a top Guard if possible… if they can’t both… get a backup tackle, and let Ndukwe takeover for Goff
I think blocking TE is a BIG need… and it SHOULD be pretty easy to find one later in the draft or FA.
I think the Chiefs are closer than people think to having a good offense… 2-3 players, and some execution and consistency

* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

Richardson passes the eye test
That guys body screams L Tackle to me! I also noticed on a couple of plays, he’s got a bit of a nasty streak in him, I like that! But… Pass blocking has been the knock on him since signing with the Chiefs, that’s not exactly a weakness you want in the man protecting your 63 million dollar QB’s back side. Hopefully this is a malady, that with time and proper instruction, will be rectified.
Chiefs could really use a guy like him to step up and force the issue, if not at L Tackle, some where on that Line. O’ Callaghan has done pretty well on the right side, I think he’ll only get better as time goes on. Then there is Brown (damn shame he got IR’d, could really use the time on the PS) hopefully he’ll be a factor next season some where on the Line. That’s really about it, imvho. Ndukwe and Alleman, although we’ve only seen very small samples of them in game action, I lack any confidence in either, having much of an impact, except at short term depth.
So I guess, IF, there is a consensus, drop dead, can’t miss, beast of a L Tackle available to us in the first round, take him, other than that, I’d say the Chiefs have way too many holes to fill, to justify drafting a L Tackle that may only be moderately better than Albert.

I'm pretty much with you on that one
again, GOTTA address the center.
G , if possible… but whatever they do, get Goff outta there

Albert
I think he could be a very good LT. Although if you are forced to pick in top five next year a stud LT might be the pick. Then move albert to LG. Think Will Shields Willie Roaf type left side of the line.
