via Russ Ann

Good morning AP readers! Did you set your clocks back an hour? Check your smoke alarm batteries? Car battery? Watch battery?

No Chiefs game today but we've got plenty to talk about today in the football world. Here is the schedule for today (all times Central):

12:00 Games:

3:00 Games:

No Sunday Night Football tonight because of the World Series, which I've enjoyed watching immensely despite not watching a regular season baseball game this year.

Check out what games you've got on in your area by checking out the NFL TV distribution maps.

Refs blow another call in the Baltimore/Denver game

Mason was OBVIOUSLY held and didn’t get the call….didn’t know that throwing your helmet down when you were on your own sideline was a penalty also…but i guess it is

Looking for an explanation....

Does anyone know how the refs can stop a hurry up offense? The Ravens were running a hurry up on their entire second drive and Denver decided change players in and out and the umpire did not allow the Ravens to snap the ball. The Donks had like 16 guys on the field but I have never seen such a thing. Then after the Ravens snapped the ball the refs completely blew a PI call against Denver the DB completely had Mason’s jersey and held him for at least 3 seconds. The most clear case of PI I have seen that wasn’t called. Completely terrible but I am curious to know about the hurry up thing because if you are able to slow down an offense by bringing players in and out, why don’t teams do that during 2 min hurry ups? The official stood over the ball for at least 7 seconds. The broadcast team only mentioned it but then went on about the PI..

The Ravens must have made a sub as well...

If they sub players even quickly then I think the other team has a chance to do the same…

Swapping from Broncs to Giants to Dolphins. Iggles up 16-0, but Giants seem to be driving. Might not pay much mind, unless Giants make it competitive.

Yeah?

Maybe I’ll go there. I like to get a better sense from watching games for stretches. That Red Zone turns your wknd into a highlight reel that you can always catch later on. At least that’s my impression. Easier to get a sense of the ebb-and-flow in the trenches by watching entire series.

Philly quickly tacks on another 7 with long pass to Jackson.

And pick off Eli on the very next possession. OK. Switching to something else here in a minute, after the Philly possession. Main observation is that the 4-man pass rush by NYG isn’t getting there, and 7 men in coverage…

(Touchdown Philadelphia. This has become a blowout.)

by Chief1 on Nov 1, 2009 1:30 PM CST up reply actions

Abandonment of cover-2.

Pretty much the same cast of characters, only different job descriptions, it seems.

Also, switch to 3-4 has less coverage help from LBs, to greater or lesser degree. These guys were programmed to funnel their man to inside help, and they still play that way, even when the situation doesn’t call for it.

You da man.

I’ve been between bbq grills since making the move from Gunnison (where I’ve been known to do Ribeyes @ 30 below of a Sunday).

Looking at Tragers, but am turned off by the fact that you need a damn electrical outlet to run the damn thing! Just tired of grills that aren’t hot enough at the surface, so I’ve been waiting to pull the trigger until I can get one that’s hot enough at the point of attack. Tired of “baking” my steaks on grills that are made to handle big pieces of meat, like roasts, when I mainly want to GRILL A STEAK. The surface needs to be HOT. I can always turn down, and put the steaks on the upper level to finish after I get a decent sear. Most grills I’ve seen aren’t that great at the sear.

Any suggestions?

I've been using this since I can't get my gas grill up to the second story deck.

It’s small, but awesome. Once the coals are hot, I throw some cherry wood chunks on and smoke the whole time.

by SuperTurtle on Nov 1, 2009 5:34 PM CST up reply actions

That wasn't the point

The point is that Cassel missed at least 2 TDs with open WRs he couldn’t hit and another one that would have been a huge gain. He also threw at least 6 balls that could have been intercepted. Was lucky they only caught 2 of them. Matt regressed big time from the Dallas and Washington games

Yes he has

But with the line that we have, and Cassels tendency to take sacks, coupled with the atrocious hands of our WR’s, I didn’t really expect anything else. I DID expect for our running attack to be more effective than it has been

Again

you can find whatever you want in the top 5. Peterson would do nothing behind KC’s run blocking. Only back I have seen that could make something outta that is Barry Sanders and if we suck this bad for long enough another Barry will come along.

I actually thought Cassel

would be good enough to get 8 men out of the box and get Bowe into the pro bowl. I will revise them shortly, will strikethough these ones. I don’t mind admitting when I am wrong. I was optimistic until I saw how bad our “franchise” QB sucks

Predictions for 2009:

LJ runs for 1800 yards
Bowe in the pro bowl
Chiefs D finishes in the top 10 in points allowed
Chiefs 10-6

by bonesjackson on Nov 1, 2009 6:10 PM CST up reply actions

Haven't decided yet.

Bowe is the only one that is still possible but the QB sucks too much. Bowe is only on pace for like 50 catches. Cassel is completing like 50% of his passes. Thigpen was more accurate. Croyle had the best game of the season so far.

Predictions for 2009:

LJ runs for 1800 yards
Bowe in the pro bowl
Chiefs D finishes in the top 10 in points allowed
Chiefs 10-6

by bonesjackson on Nov 1, 2009 6:13 PM CST up reply actions

would like to see Bowe get more looks earlier in games

he seems to only get them in the 2nd half…..would like to see Croyle get a shot…especially if we lose ot jacksonville

I like the slant they ran

in Washington. Great play call havent seen it before or since

Predictions for 2009:

LJ runs for 1800 yards
Bowe in the pro bowl
Chiefs D finishes in the top 10 in points allowed
Chiefs 10-6

by bonesjackson on Nov 1, 2009 6:16 PM CST up reply actions

Here is what I decided on

The strike doesn’t work on sigs

Predictions for 2009:

**LJ runs for 1800 yards**

LJ breaks Chiefs all time rushing record at home and some idiot in a red #31 jersey jumps out of the stands to try to stop him and gets trucked. It wasn't Priest but instead someone who cares more about the record than Priest does

**Bowe in the pro bowl**

Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.

**Chiefs D finishes in the top 10 in points allowed**

The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays

Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '07 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for

**Chiefs 10-6**

Chiefs 6-10

by bonesjackson on Nov 1, 2009 6:33 PM CST up reply actions

There hasnt been 8 in the box....

Most teams have sent 5 or 6 and could still stop Larry. Atleast I get a kick out of the ESPN cuts of LJ falling down 3 or 4 times in a row before anyone touches him. LJ is horrible.

Cassell doesnt suck either. How can yoou say he sucks when he gets hit so much and has barely any weapons. Aaron Rodgers has a good RB so that takes pressure of him.

OHANA!
