A Letter From Todd Haley.
First of all let me explain this to some people that don't know the past circumstances concerning this. A couple of months ago I sent Clark Hunt, Scott Pioli and Todd Haley a Arrowhead Pride Wolf Pack T-shirt's that included a letter welcoming them all to Kansas City and the Chiefs organization and signed them from all the fans here on Arrowhead Pride. That should clear it up with some of you newer members here that were unaware of that.
Just recently Joel had the great pleasure to have been able to interview none other than Clark Hunt. A very gracious and generous offer by Mr. Hunt to have done so. Prior to the interview with Mr. Hunt it was mentioned that Mr. Hunt really liked the Arrowhead Pride Wolfpack T-shirt.
Today I went to my mailbox, pulled the mail out and came back in to the house and sat down to inspect what had been sent. "Trash, keep, trash, uh... what's this?" I thought to myself. "Wow, a envelope from The Kansas City Chiefs Football Club!" and then thought "Uh oh, a cease and desist letter". I open it up and pulled the contents out of the envelope and looked at it. "Oh my..." The letterhead has the Chiefs emblem, below that in raised gold lettering "Kansas City Chiefs Football Club". Below that is:
Todd Haley
Head Coach
"Holy Crap!" I mumbled out loud. Then began reading in ernest.
Dear Steve,
Thanks for the kind words and the Chiefs support you are giving.
We have had a lot of setbacks this past season, but we are looking to get things turned around in the right direction. We are trying our best and will continue to do so. The future of our great young Chiefs is right around the corner.
A large portion of our team's success is contingent upon the support of its faithful fans. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your loyalty.
I appreciate you taking the time to write me a letter and sending the t-shirt that represents Arrowhead Pride. Having fans with your passion and support for our team is exciting as we finish our 3rd pre-season game. Thank you again for your support.
Sincerely,
Todd Haley (signed)
Todd Haley
Head Coach
Kansas City Chiefs
That's the letter.
Although this was address to me, I would like you all to consider that Todd Haley addressed this to all of you. The fans of our team the Kansas City Chiefs. Yes, Head Coach Todd Haley took the time out of his extremely hectic and busy schedule to write a letter to us the fans of Arrowhead Pride.
On a personal level this was a wonderful thing for Coach Haley to have done. I have had a respect for the man from day one and this only, dare I say, gave me a "Man Crush" on the guy. Can he do wrong in my eyes from now on? Of course he can, he is only human. But for a guy like that to have taken the time to write a unsolicited letter to show their thanks puts the man way up there in my book.
Todd knows your out there and are watching and has acknowledged every one of you as being a important part of the Chiefs. So guys, walk with your heads up and be proud of your Chiefs, win or loose, be proud.
Edit: The letter was dated 31 August 2009, the letter was post dated 8 October 2009. Personal info blocked out. I am fully aware that there are machines that will write the signatures of individuals on a mass scale. Inspection of the signature shows clearly that it is a hand written signature, the ink bleeds out in to the paper.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Props to Todd Haley’s PA dept. and Todd Haley for throwing this together. Gives a little more respect for the Chiefs org as a whole. I put it like this, For Clark Hunt and Todd Haley to recognize the Shirts means they are going threw the thousands of Fan Letters they get. Which is cool.

Excellent
Thanks for taking the time to send it in the first place. Good job. Also, I think the more the coaches, players, and franchise as a whole know that we are behind them, the better they will want to produce for us, their fan base.
This is only the pains of the beginning. A couple of years from now when we are regularly playing for the AFC Title, it only be a (nightmarish) memory.

Very nice!
Have you ever developed an opinion of a person before you ever met them based on seeing or hearing things about them? I think all of us have at one time or another. Most of what we know is what we have seen or read. This was an opportunity, although not in person by by a personal encounter, with a good man. Many have not given this man a chance to succeed and will not even acknowledge what we have just had the pleasure of reading. But I say its their loss and a lost opportunity to enjoy a nice moment with the person leading the comeback for our beloved Chiefs. Here’s to you Todd!

Congrats OCF!
Being the one who put the whole t-shirt idea together, I’m glad that you received this letter to help recognize your efforts. And it was a wonderful gesture for Coach Haley to acknwledge the receipt of the shirt. Now to see him rockin it on the sidelines or at least at one of his press conferences. That would be totally awesome! Good job!

I have a story
When I was stationed in Fort Bragg. My first daughter was born and like always I was wearing my chiefs hat. One of the hospital secretaries asked if I was a chiefs fan. I said I am. This women was Herm Edwards sister. She took down my phone number and about a week later she called me and gave me 2 t-shirts and a signed autograph of Herm. I know the autograph is not worth shit but it was a nice thing he did.

Rec'd!
Did we ever send anything to CP..other than hate mail? Haha.
Just wondering if anyone did and if they received anything in return.
This tells me that the regime really IS willing to do WHATEVER it takes to get a win, including interacting with fans. I think this really makes a difference and even though the new organization is tight-lipped to the media, its nice to know that they havent shut out us fans completely, aside from coming to the stadium 10 times a year, 8 of them when it counts, and HOPEFULLY in the future, even more than that.
by Petey14 on Oct 10, 2009 6:07 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
From my experience
The Chiefs have a high priority on the fan experience – on all levels from the stadium to interacting with the players and management.
by Joel Thorman on Oct 10, 2009 6:28 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I just wish
that we could get that damn stadium filled up!
I miss the good ole days. Days when the parking lots were so full, you had to park in the grass.
Days where the stadium was packed. Not a seat left in the house.
Days when it was so loud, you couldnt hear the person next to you speak, but you could hear the guy behind you screaming in your ear…and you dont mind.

Cool to be a part of something larger than ourselves…congrats OCF! If you have listened to enough interviews from Todd, there is a whole side of him that never gets attention. Warner, Fitzgerald and many others all gave Haley credit & liked him. We all hope he is the answer, he’s right change is hard but this is a good change.

It's cool you got a letter
But are we really going to delude ourselves into thinking that Haley actually wrote that? I doubt he even saw it. Some intern has a job opening all that crap and responding based on form letters…. Not to rain on the parade…. but come on… let’s use some common sense.

But in all honesty, he sure as hell better not be opening and responding to a bunch of fan mail when he has work to do…. Do you REALLY think he wrote that letter. I guess you all think santa responds to his own letters too….
by callmesir on Oct 11, 2009 9:36 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Not on an individual basis!
What kind of idiots do you take us for Mr. callmesir? Santa is way too busy instructing the elves with toy making duties to respond to all of his letters! Now the Easter Bunny on the other hand should feel obligated to respond to all his fan mail!
by ttownmikey on Oct 11, 2009 10:24 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
No he didn't write the letter,
It was printed out on a printer
He did sign it and accepted the T-shirt.
In your mind I’m sure Joel had a cut out of Clark Hunt and interviewed it as well as sits in his house and looks out the front window and calls it his “press box pass”. You probably also believe that Herm Edwards sister didn’t talk to Herm and ask him to send ellis82 a autographed pic and t-shirts either, she probably had them in her basement and sent them.
It’s also rather bad form to be thinking and stating that everything sent to the KC Chiefs organization from fans is “crap” (in your words). But then again I’ve come to expect nothing less from you. I will refrain from further comment concerning you as it would most likely become personal because I took this personally. You have no idea of why I did this or whom I did it for.
Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...

It wasn't meant to be any kind of personal attack on you.
I realize that you sent the shirt in good faith… and It’s nice to hear back…. I was out of line in raining on a parade…. I still think there’s no way Haley took time out of his schedule to do this. I’m not calling you a liar or anything along those lines…. I also wasn’t calling the T-shirt crap…. In fact I rather liked them…. I’m just basing my assumptions on logic, they probably get 202897079 pieces of mail a day and don’t have the time or energy to respond to any of it personally, There’s some intern that takes care of it all… Hell, I’m not nearly as important as Haley or any of the chiefs staff, but Half of my correspondence is done in form letters that I never see…. yet “I” replied too…
Like I said… If you took it as a personal attack… I’m sorry, it was in no way meant to be, I wasn’t attacking your credibility, just posting a “are you serious” type comment…..
Hopefully, Haley is more concerned with game plans than replying to fanmail……
by callmesir on Oct 12, 2009 12:59 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Callmesir is right, sorry.
Its called a form letter. Haley dictates to a secretary what he wants his fan mail response letter to say. “We’re working hard blah blah blah…” then there are blanks where the secretary fills in something for Todd to make the response personal. Like the part about the T-Shirt. Sometimes he’ll dictate something himself, sometimes the secretary will just do it. “as we finish our 3rd preseason game” or should it say “insert current game here”. You’ll likely receive your form letters from Scott and Clark at some point. I’ve got one from Carl that is priceless where he actually does write a lot in it, but you can definitely tell where all the form or template parts are.

I understand how it works guys. What struck me personally was the way
the comments were made and degraded something I thought was a good thing for the AP community. It was a gesture from the AP community to the Chiefs. I never expected to have had any response from them at all and so much as said that in the letter to each individual . The only reason I posted this whole thing was to show the people here at AP that everyone here on AP had been acknowledged and thanks was given by Todd Haley regardless of the process of how the letter was produced.
To me the whole spirit of the gesture was attacked and I take that personally.

or so he tells everyone. what it really is, is a certificate for reading X number of books in one month during a promo that Kobe was doing for the schools. my son knows this, but loves to show everyone he has his autograph nontheless.
I’m sure that it was a form letter, but I have no doubts Haley PERSONALLY signed it and definitely got the shirt! :)
