The BBQ the Chiefs PR staff brought in today was from L.C.'s...it was AWESOME!
Maybe I should bring a Z-Man from Oklahoma Joe's to the stadium on Sunday.

if you've eaten there
you would agree that they’re delicious. maybe not the best, but very solid. their beans are best in KC IMHO.
Wow
Better than Jackstack/Smokestack beans?? Bold statement.
I’ve eaten there, and I do think it’s delicious. I just happen to think OK Joe’s is better.
Not in agreement
LC’s is top-tier KC BBQ — phenomenal burnt ends and probably the best fries I’ve ever had (and I’ve had more than my fair share).
Jackstack/Smokestack has great burnt ends too
Like I was saying above, OK Joe’s is the best IMO, but Jackstack/Smokestack is a close, close second.
Wait, what?
So network commentators get flown out to cities around the country for a weekend, get to try some of the locales best food, get to watch the game for free, and get to schmooze with people around the NFL? Where the fuck do I sign up?!?!

On top of all that
they get paid quite well!!! Any of us would pay the network for that opportunity. That would be rough wouldn’t it!
What about Gates BBQ??
I have heard that is a good one.

I live right around the corner
from LC’s. it looks like a hole in the wall but heaven is inside. LC is excellent but their sauce, while very good, is very mild. It’s probably pretty out-of-towner appropriate.
IMO:
Gates
Jack Stack (best baked beans in this universe)
LC’s
KC masterpiece
Arthur Bryants (sauce is awful, shame since the actual food is so good)
I hear from a lot of people that Bryant's sauce sucks,
but I love their original.
I used to work with an old man that told me. Son, every workplace has a dumbass, if you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.
If you could put Gates sauce on Bryant's ribs you'd have some good stuff.
The fries at Gates fresh from the fryer can’t be beat. I don’t know if they still do it today but when I was a kid they were fried in lard (its a good thing I moved away). I had some last week with the mixed plate. I’d love to try something new when I come back in December.
Man I miss KC. The memories of driving around town and homing in on the restaurants by smell instead of directions…

Ditto on Gates
Go to the one on Main just north of the Plaza. Its awesome! I kept going back and forth between 3 sauces I tried and loved each one. Fries and Burnt Ends are primo!

But occasionally the pepper sauce hits the spot!
