Two Players Missing from Chiefs Practice
The Kansas City Chiefs conducted practice outside today despite the wet conditions. If you're in Kansas City then you've know it's been a rainy 24 hours.
There were two players with injury issues yesterday and both were on the field today. DE Wallace Gilberry (head) and RT Ikechuku Ndukwe (stinger) will be listed as probable on the injury report. Probable means there's a virtual certainty they'll be available to play.
Two other players were missing practice today, though. QB Brodie Croyle was gone for personal (family) reasons and DE Alex Magee came down with an illness and was sent home early. Both players are expected to be ready for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
As we told you the other day, Sunday's game has drawn FOX's No. 1 announcing crew of Troy Aikman, Joe Buck and sideline reporter Pam Oliver. All were present at Chiefs practice today.
According to Aikman on his Twitter account, he's attending practice today and talking with Todd Haley, Clancy Pendergast and Matt Cassel. And then he's getting some Kansas City barbecue. Good man, Mr. Aikman.
These updates are coming from Bob Gretz and Josh Looney.

I can't stand Buck as a Football announcer.
It still boils my blood a little thinking back to the Atlanta playoff game (Vick’s first playoff game) Falcons ran a reverse for a TD, that Buck called a double reverse the entire game. It pisses me off so much when the generic term of reverse is used for end arounds, then referring to a reverse as a double reverse.
And I hated Aikman as a player, though I do really like the guy as a play by play guy.

I've met him and he's a pompus prick
He’s trying to the Letterman/Leno of sportscasting.. problem is no one thinks he’s funny and its up for debate whether the two guys Buck is trying to be are actually funny.

I think Buck is a really good baseball announcer though...
Probably helps that his dad was the greatest ever. I also think Buck can be funny, he does a great job filling the void in baseball with his little stories and crappy jokes, but with football there is just to much to talk about. He is absolutely great when he goes on the Dan Patrick show though.

Aikman's smart and good announcer
but does anyone else think when he speaks he sounds like someone who tries to talk after getting shot up with novicane at the dentist?

yeah he has a very dry monotone voice.

Do be great at football
you have to know the difference between an end around and a reverse.

+1
I like both of them as announcers actually. (Hated Aikman as a Cowboy but, only because he was so damn good)

Alex Magee
I bet he got sick handing out those Zhu Zhu toys on Tuesday. That’s what you get for trying to do the right thing.

Hope not
Maybe they can get Gales up to play

You really think Gales is better?
You keep campaigning for ‘im, Matt. Maybe he’ll show me somethin’ he hasn’t, yet.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

I pretty much know Gales is better then Magee....
He just needs his opportunity….just like Lance Long….opportunity.

Take Note - Outside practice Friday on a sloppy field
I noticed during the Giants game that the field was in horrible condition after the college game the day before. Me thinks Pioli may know something about field conditions that Dallas may not be prepared for (or at least haven’t practiced for)
I would think sloppy conditions would act as an equalizer.

Chiefs want it sloppy
….seriously
A man who says he can, and a man who says he can't are both right. Which one are you?

The slop can equalize speed. But it can also give the WR an even greater advantage.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.

Not enough nuts 'n' bolts play-by-play from this duo.
State the formation. Say who’s in the slot and who’s split wide. If the TE lines up on the left side, make mention of it. Name the formation. State how many players are coming on the blitz. Point out (as it becomes important) how much of a cushion the CBs are giving.
That old-school stuff (from radio tradition) is what I miss about today’s play-by-play from most announcers. Is it Dawson and Holthus on 810? They’re a little better,
Al Michaels isn’t even as good as Al Michaels used to be. Still pretty good. Still prob’ly the best. But he’s not NEAR the play-by-play machine he used to be. NONE of ’em are, anymore.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
