Chiefs GM Scott Pioli was at the Mizzou game last night. Left press box after three quarters. Probably saw enough to know DT Suh is legit.

Agreed
as much as I like Suh I wouldnt be real happy with the pick we need o line help and a rush linebacker or even a safety before another d lineman
by tomahawk44 on Oct 9, 2009 10:48 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Don't need a first round o-lineman.
We need two 2nd or 3rd round o-linemen.
Suh looked good but looks small to play nose in a 3-4. I want a fatboy like Ngata in the middle.

maybe
We’ll trade Dorsey to Atlanta for their 1st round pick (they are desperate for a DT right now), with the intent to draft Suh & use the other 1st for other needs. It would be a risky move though, considering we don’t know where we pick.

i agree with us trading BUT
I don’t think Atlanta would be a willing party. Their DT situation isn’t bad at all. Give Trey Lewis their 2006 5th Rnd pick a few games. He started 5 as a rookie before tearing his ACL and is just getting back after a full year and a half off due to multiple setbacks in his rehab. He has gained about 20 lbs of muscle since being drafted and was the leading tackler among DT in the NFL during the pre-season. On top of that he is in a contract year…just wait.

No, we're not...
Dorsey looks good, we don’t trade a young DE.
No one is giving up anything for LJ. We ride him into the ground and he retires a Chief or makes an ass of himself elsewhere ala Shawn Alexander.
DJ is a free agent, no way we sign and trade him.

No way we go OT in round 1.
If we can move Dorsey for a 2nd plus a later pick I’m fine with Suh. I just don’t see anyone giving up what it would take.

we need to go oline just think if we had a run game
we would be winning games no doubt we could milk clock any running back would look great our defense isnt that bad its our offense that is horrible we cant stay on the field long enough . we need to go oline that line is killing our entire team. we cant get first downs at this point.

Again, we need a guard and a center.
You take those in rounds 2 and 3. No guard is worth taking with a top 10 pick.

+1
Though I’d say the only OL worthy of a top 10 pick is a LT. RT is mid-1st at best, C/G though are most definitely 2-3.

prepare to be shocked then
You’re right he is similar to Seymour, except he is much more athletic. And Rich can play DT or DE. Suh is suitable for many different schemes in the NFL. He is tremendous @ the point of attack which will demand double teams and that’s exactly what you need a 34 DE or a 43 DT to do.
Now if you were saying he isn’t a good fit for a true NT, like in a 3-4 I tend to agree, because you would be neglecting his greatest assets by placing him in a zero technique and making him eat up blockers.
If Suh is available when we pick we would be ignorant to pass over him. He is truly a rare breed.

The boy named Suh!!
If Suh keeps playing like he did against Mizzou last night, look for him to be wearing red and gold next season. “The Nigerian Night Terror”. Don’t worry, that’s the last nickname I could come up with.

HE IS A STUD
which we don’t have right now.

Suh isnt the best player...
That would be Berry, I honestly beleive they are going to draft Berry with the 3rd or 4th pick. I belive they address LB and C in the 2nd round. Probably Hughes, Kindle, or Norwood. Whoever is there. I think ODowd or Mike Johnson with our late 2nd. I belive the Chiefs will try to fill the other wholes with FA pick ups. Logan Mankins is pretty much already a Chief if Wilfork has to be deignated.

We NEED a NT
I REALLY REALLY don’t want to take a NT in the draft. We need instant impact. I say we go after a NT in FA if any are available. Tyler is a solid backup at best. (He smokes WAY too much weed and cares more about rapping and being on TV). I laughed my ass off when all the idiots came out this off season declaring this to be his breakout season. I know Tyler through a friend and its a laugh that anyone in the organization thought he could be a full time starter. Same with Edwards.

how is knowing him
through a friend justify that its a laugh for him to be a starter maybe you should rewatch some games,
Tank is getting a good push in the middle
Oh yea I know were only 4 games into the season by why is Tank tied for 2nd in the NFL for total tackles amongst all Dlinemen

Getting a good push and making tackles is his job
I said hes a solid backup. Not that I want him off our team. For such a crucial position I don’t trust it in the hands. He has never shown real flashes of being great. Only solid. That is why I’m saying we need an instant impact NT hopefully in FA that will be make the entire unit better. Its the one position on D that can do that. People on here use too much good faith that players will eventually learn and become great players. It just doesn’t happen often especially not to people of tank’s moral character.

I didnt know
anyone was really declaring him to be the next best NT/DT when we drafted him but I think he is coming around and will be a great rotational player but more than just a backup
when/if the other Dlinemen ever come around he will look alot better
And yes your right that is his job, and “so far” I think he is doing pretty well, I mean hes not wrecking havoc or anything but is doing i guess like you said a “solid” job
Great players dont win championships.....Great TEAMS win championships

The stats show he is doing his job then, right?
by JComp11 on Oct 9, 2009 2:02 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
It's his first season as a NT
And so far he seems to be doing good, tied for 2nd in the league for tackles and I can’t think of many examples of us being gashed up the
middle.
With so many holes on this team I can’t see how you cam justify spending a 1st round pick on area that even you admit is “solid.”
Personally I hope we draft a WR or TE with our first next year. Our oline isn’t great, but only LT would justify burning a top 10 first round pick. We could address O-line with our two second rounders.

Tank is currently #2 in the NFL in tackles for a D-lineman
Doesn’t sound like a backup to me. AK_47, I think you are freaking crazy. Tank has been one of the few bright spots on the defense this season. A NT is not even on the long list of needs for this team. The D-line is going to be very good with some time. We need a safety and LBs. A pass rushing LB would be a good way to spen a first day pick but, I agree with the O-line which should be on the top of our list of priorities.

Suh will be an amazing 3-4 DE
With his size and ability I think he will be a great 3-4 DE but the thing is the real good 3-4 don’t draft Ends in the top five…Sorry Egoli

just outside of your range and he definitely wasn’t worth that pick…. wait a sec he was one of 3 keys to that defense for 8 seasons?

Of course...
everyone assumes he was there for Suh. That guy is already a 1st rounder. He may have been looking for O-linemen or RB’s…..didn’t find any and left.
I remember Dawson to Taylor, Kenney to Carson, and Blackledge catching the snap in his facemask. Seen it all...

Maybe Pioli was there looking at Sean Weatherspoon
Isn’t he supposed to be the top ILB available next year? Did he do any good yesterday? I didn’t see the game.

Spoon messed up huge yesterday, He had a solid game physically, nut mentally he made a huge mistake with a personal foul call.

Terrible call
I’m a Nebraska fan and I almost threw something at the TV after that call on Spoon. I’m so tired of these pussy refs calling penalties on guys being physical or just caught in the momment.
Some RB tried to cut Spoon downfield and he just pounded him in the back, wasn’t a fist, wasn’t really late, just part of football. A shitty call, along with both penalties on Suh…I think the refs were afraid he was gonna hurt somebody out there so they tried to slow him down. Lol.

Overall, I wouldn't be mad if they drafted suh....
One big mistake the Chiefs have made over the years is drafting for need. When you are in the top 15, You have to take the best available. If Pioli thinks thats Suh, Then he should do it. I think Berry is the best. We also need someone to replace Page, He is a solid SPTer but thats it.
