Ego...Ego...Ego
I watched Jack Harry after the game vs the Giants and he discussed LJ's "ego" comment. Harry was confused as the what LJ meant and apparently a lot of people are. Here is my analysis of what LJ means:
–noun, plural e⋅gos.
| 1. | the “I” or self of any person; a person as thinking, feeling, and willing, and distinguishing itself from the selves of others and from objects of its thought. |
| 2. | Psychoanalysis. the part of the psychic apparatus that experiences and reacts to the outside world and thus mediates between the primitive drives of the id and the demands of the social and physical environment. |
| 3. | egotism; conceit; self-importance: Her ego becomes more unbearable each day. |
| 4. | self-esteem or self-image; feelings: Your criticism wounded his ego. |
When asked what separated the Giants and Chiefs, LJ replied "ego - ego - ego." As soon as he said it, I immediately understood (or so i think) what he meant. Johnson is saying that the Giants know who they are and what they can do. They have the confidence to come out swinging and bust you in the mouth. The Chiefs, on the other hand, lack all of this. KC has to team identity, there is zero confidence, and we lack PRIDE. The KC Chiefs are a prideless team right now. I don't know if Todd Haley is upset about this, but he has to know deep down that LJ is right. When we finally win a game, Haley has to be able to turn that into confidence. If he can't, we will do what we did last year and just have a couple fluke wins that don't translate into improvement.
LJ is not only right, he could not have said it better.

interesting take on it ... doubtful that's what LJ meant, but interesting nonetheless
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!
Despite comments below
I don’t expect LJ to change his stripes. I think he was commenting on Haley and trying to keep from getting in the doghouse by being coy about it.
pretty much what I was getting at ...
I really think he’s a time bomb waiting to happen
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!
yeah, but I don't know if he's a time bomb
maybe more of a corrosive salt. Although he has time bomb potential.
My 1st thought
was I wondered why he said ego & why didn’t he say self-confidence instead & that the Giants have it & the Chiefs don’t, so I tend to agree with you on this rather than how the media will twist it to appear that he was referring to Haley!
Well
To be fair…when he doesn’t elaborate on something like that he’s asking for controversy and open-ended interpretations.
and who's to say he WASN'T referring to Haley? could be the "media twist" is right ...
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!
That's what I hoped he meant....
But I dont think he did….

LJ is our RB
If its meant to be spun lets spin it in this direction. I do think this is what he meant though. We got wooped by a confident team that knows they are good.
I think this is what he meant as well
The chiefs have no swagger
Until we get 3 new offensive line man (first round pick, 1 of second round picks+ Quality FA signing) AND another solid WR (Bolden) to start alongside bowe this team won’t be competing for the division.
We’ve got the money..Let’s spend it damnit..

this is exactly what I thought he said until reporters started spinning it
I’m sure it had to do with a lot of the trash talking the Giants were doing on Sunday as well and since they were able to back it up, well, there ya go.
No Way...
Larry Johnson could never say something that made sense like that…..he is talking about Haley and his ego/pride not letting him run it in the house.

Larry has earned benefit of the doubt by the way he has been acting. Please leave the dirt for people who deserve it and keep in mind what is best for the team as LJ is doing for once. Get on board or say nothing at all PLEASE.
Oh yeah get on board....You should shut your mouth you dumbass!! Are you with us or against us.....
CASSEL SUCKS
WEAK ARM NO VISION HAPPY FEET SACK MASTER
I dont know what game you watched yesterday but our O-LINE played much better Cassel had more than the expected amount of time on most plays LJ was the bright spot as the O-Line was able to give enough.
Terrible on his timing was Cassel Terrible on his accuracy was Cassel and THREE of the five sacks CLEARLY CASSELS fault not the O-Line as Cassel tucked and crumbled twice with no one around him.

Exactly what I said and true
No need for names though as my post was accurate to date.
Also after todays press conferance with Haley
I have decided to take a step back on ALL of the criticism
Maybe I am a Todd Haley fan
Maybe I wanna be like him and be mean and call people names…

Why not debate his point rather than ask him to shut up?
Not all of us own rose colored glasses and AP has been a great outlet for many of us to vent respectfully. When you tell someone to shut up just because you disagree with them, you only foster a negative environment for discussion. It is possible to debate with facts, feelings, and opinions without getting nasty with each other. If this were a decent bar, than you two could take it out to the parking lot and settle this. However, its not and we are all stuck in here together, so we might as well stay civil in our discussion.

He has earned no such thing...
This good behavior has been rare for LJ…It deserves suspicion and this is him reverting…no doubt

but all Haley has done the past couple of games is hand it off to Larry more than he should have
so why would he be complaining? Even Larry knows that you have to abandon the run eventually somewhere during a 27-3 beating.
I think he was hanging out with Ricky Williams
So he had the munchies and actually meant Eggo, eggo..where the hell are my eggos
If anybody is worried about LJ's attitude, this is what he posted on his blog yesterday:
“But back in business. Off to a tough start so far. Getting better every game, building chemistry. Everybody hang in there…”
Doesn’t sound like a guy who’s down on his team or even coaches for that matter. He even goes on to talk about how he just wants to get his first win and the record doesn’t matter that much too him right now. Nothing’s wrong with Larry, so just leave it alone.
i kind of think
a leader is being born, maybe unwittingly. he’s one of the longest tenured chiefs. younger guys will look to him for certain things
Too much coincidence
in Whitlock overusing the Ego-li nickname and LJ all the sudden giving one word answers as “ego”.
The fact he wouldn’t elaborate on it sounds like he’s taking a shot at the guys in charge but leaving it cryptic so they can’t say for a certainty he’s badmouthing the organization.
Here's my take on this...
Who cares??? Really, the last thing the team needs is a bunch of drama being stirred up right now. Dallas is coming to town. It’s the best “chance” the Chiefs have at a win for a while. They need to be focused and ready and NOT worrying about this BS.
BTW: I agree with the poster above regarding the fact that this team has no swagger. People can say what they want but that confidence is an important part of a winning formula. This team desperately needs a win this week. Then maybe, they can carry some attitude over to Washington next week.
