We sucked last year, and it needed blown up....well guess what they blew it up, pieces are STILL falling everywhere, but the fact of the matter is that I finally see passion again from the front office and head coach, and I am willing to give them time and I will be behind them. Todd Haley is going to do it his way, whether anyone on AP likes it or not, and I can respect him for that. He will live and die by what he knows, and he proved that by getting rid of the offense and coordinator he didn't agree with. We watched what happens when head coach philosophy and coordinaters don't match (see herm edwards tampa 2 and the chiefs defensive staff). He saw that he wasn't going to like it, and it falls on his soulders so he is going to take it and try to fix it himself. Love the move, hate the move, think its brilliant or dumb, doesn't matter....you have to respect that he is sticking his neck out because he thinks he can do better. The guy walked into a team devoid of talent, and is working his ass off to change that the only way he knows, by making guys uncomfortable and demanding better. So far the results have been mixed, and thats being generous, but we are 4 games into a murderous season, and honestly dominated the one game we should have (even though somehow we found a way to lose).
There is no magic want to waive and make this team better. Chiefs fans.....look at yourself and your chiefs in the mirror and accept that your team is not as good as you want them to be. Get it done, it stings, but once you get to that point we can start being real and maybe find some things this team has going for it.
I guess all I have to say is I don't understand what you want. They sucked, so they blew it up, and so far they still suck but nobody could honestly expect this to be fixed in one year could they? I mean really? People point to free agents, but free agents are exactly that, free to do what they want and sign with who they want, even if we did court every one of them do you think they would want to come here? Then people point to the salary cap and say "PAY THEM".....do you really want to be the Raiders? Not me!
I agree Cassell is not playing where he needs to at this point, but after the interceptions in the Raiders game I see improvement from him in at least that category. Sure he is still struggling to find himself in this offense, but the whole offense is, I mean right or wrong they scrapped the thing 2 weeks before the season. Unfortunately its obvious that he is use to getting rid of the ball before he wants, and hoping that this line continues to gel and get better, that is the next area I hope to see him improve.
Look guys, we started a season with an offense in turmoil and a line actively being rebuilt, and a defense with a whole lot of guys in new positions, and a void of talent at linebacker. Couple that with a murderers row of a schedule, and we are right where we should be right now minus that win from Oakland. I can stand here and honestly say that I'm not surprised to be 0-4, although I feel like we should be 1-3. Look for the imrpovement, its what we are going to have to cling to this year because the wins are just not going to come in droves this year. Be patient, the patriots were not built in a day, and not matter how many fingers you point at Atlanta, or the Dolphins.....I don't wanna be the 90's chiefs again, always in the hunt, and always coming up short. This needs done right, and yeah thats gonna hurt for awhile, but at least to this one chiefs fan.....I think its gonna be worth it. Mark my words....week 17 you will be able to look at where this team started at in week one, and there will be improvement.
