More proof that we should be better than this!

I doubt I'll get as much furiously angry feedback this time I say this; our QB play is subpar....period!

Star-divide

More strong evidence of this came on the eve of Brett Favre's showdown with his former team; the Green Bay slackers. NO TEAM in the NFL has a worse offensive line than the Packers do. PERIOD. Statistically this is absolute fact. All one has to do to confirm this is look at NFL.com's stats, or you could just watch the Packers attempt to play football.

The Packers allowed more sacks on Aaron Rodgers Monday night than the Chiefs have allowed on Matt Cassel ALL season long. PERIOD!! Hell going into game 4, Jared Allen had .5 less sacks on Monday night than the Chiefs had allowed all season long.

And yet, Aaron Rodgers puts up over 300 almost 400 yards passing and that despite two MAJOR turnovers. They managed to score 23 points against one of the NFL's very best defense's. Hmmm!!

Which brings us back home. I know this is a can of worms but I just want to hear someone get REAL!! Matt Cassel is not performing at a 60 million dollar PROFESSIONAL Qb level. He's not the only QB getting his proverbial ass handed to him. For God sake's Aaron Rodger's got sacked 8 times!!!!! Let that sink in....hold it...wait for it...yah..I said 8 times in one game!! (also makes me miss Jared Allen). And he performed at a pro level. He didn't make excuses about his line sucking like we do. He didn't whine and cry about every one else not making his job easy for him. After 8 sacks you should be allowed to draw and quarter your offensive line on national TV.

But he put the blame squarely where it lies when you get paid that kind of money to be a pro QB in the NFL...on HIMSELF!! ONLY on himself!! And rightfully so. This is not a forgiving league. This is not a league for excuse makers. In this league if you don't step up under adversity your going to get replaced by someone who will.

Enough is enough. We Chiefs fans should start expecting to see greatness here. We need to stop already with the constant, non-stop excuse making when our team plays like a bunch of bewildered idiots. There's a reason we're 0-4. It's because we are pitiful on every level other than special teams. And, we will continue to be pitiful on all facets of our game until the excuse making and the "poor baby" attitude stops around KC.

It's time to think like a winning franchise thinks. Zero tolerance for stupidity and half assed play. Zero tolerance for anything but absolute 100% professionalism and effort at all times and in all facets of your game. Until we start THINKING like winners here, even as fans, we will continue to have the most "poor baby" pampered, excuses made for pitiful playing team in the NFL.

We need to get it right and keep it right. I'm sick of watching other NFL teams excel despite weak links in their armor. We excel once we're down so far in the game that we can't possibly come back and win. We excel when it doesn't matter anymore. We play with our backs against the wall when it simply doesn't matter anymore.

I don't blame anyone for venting their frustration on here anymore. You have the right to be mad as hell. You should be mad as hell. If we don't get fired up here soon, we're going to be stuck like this for the next 20 years again.

Sorry Krayfish

but its just not a fair comparison. The o-line part is true. However, Rodgers has is in his fourth year as Packer working in the same system with skill players around him like Jennings and Driver who also know the system by heart. We have a group of guys that are just getting to know each other and an offensive scheme that was put in a week before the season started. Is excepting losing and poor play okay, no. Is expecting them to fix a 2-14 team in four games realistic, no. Patience my friend.

It's a good thing Pioli and Haley aren't running AP or a lot of you guys would of been traded or cut for cast offs from the Pats Pulpit.

that's valid Porkchop...I knew someone would say that already anyway.

And I can’t sit here and say that doesn’t matter AT all….but it doesn’t matter ALL that much. There are rookie QB’s who came in to systems that they had never seen before because they had NEVER taken a snap in NFL period. And they were playing for franchises that were MORE disheveled and screwed up than us.
The Falcons QB went to prison ( a black man putting a noose around his dog’s necks – shameful)..their GM went bye bye and their coach quite mid season…but they aren’t sitting around crying about it.

They broght in a rookie QB and put a whole new team together starting at the top like we did…New GM new coaches new QB (a rookie at that) A ROOOOOOKKKKIIIEEEE!!!! and they are solid. It CAN be done…let me say that again…it CAN be done…their living proof…at least Herm didn’t leave a good bye note and walk out halfway through the season like the Falcons coach did.

They went out and got key players…we gave away key players…remember..TG no. 88 is a FAlcon now…not a chief…I’m sorry but the excuse making is always a problem for desperate fans of a losing franchise like ours…we gotta STOP this now!!!

I would agree to a point.

Can you get good QB play with a poor offensive line? Yes
Can you get good QB from a QB that is new to a team and system? Yes

However, when you combine both of them it does make things harder. Can Cassel up his game? My answer is 100% yes. However, if you asked me to rank the positions on this team where we need an upgrade, QB wouldn’t make my top 10.

It's a good thing Pioli and Haley aren't running AP or a lot of you guys would of been traded or cut for cast offs from the Pats Pulpit.

yep I have to concede that point to you porkchop

it’s not as pressing really…in fact if we got our dam offensive line fixed and our d wasn’t so god awful…he could probably relax into becoming a damn fine QB for us….

he’s just made me nervous lady..he looks all jittery at times…like I used to after a Friday night at the local pub…lol!
but then again I don’t have 380 lbs of angry human trying to knock my block off either

What I saw last night was a shining example of what I've been preaching for the last month.

Aaron Rodgers was getting the ball out FAST!!! that’s how he put up those numbers. the slants, quick out patterns, the screen pass out of the shotgun were VERY VERY effective against the Minny pass rush. I don’t see any of those kinds of plays from Todd Haley.

That has been my biggest problem with Haley as our OC. I do NOT blame Cassel. I think the reason for our ineffective offense lies squarely on the shoulders of the OC. He doesn’t seem to realize that our line is not as good as those he had in Dallas and Az..

by Chiefsfan1970 on Oct 6, 2009 11:44 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

ok now your talkin 1970 that is what i'm talkin' about

if Cassel needs help in speedin up …then why in the hell hasn’t our OC/HC/QB coach/hot dog salesman/everything coach…given him plays that are designed for super quick releases…play actioin to jamal charles…quick screens to LJ??
a slant to Bowe?? your absolutely correct…unless Haley just refuses to accept the fact that our o-line sucks and insists we play at a higher level like he did in camp. I’m not sure anymore…I just know that if you follow Haley’s OWN words then you “have to go off what you see, not what you think”.
So far I see 0-4…0-11 on third down conversions…(we are the worst in the NFL at it btw), unable to stop other teams consistently or at all…and losing to a team as bad as the raiders…and believe me…they suck…their statistically right there with us…

we couldn’t even win that one….so going by what I see not what I want to believe…we are in BIG trouble here still.

by krayfish on Oct 6, 2009 12:25 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Cassel has 1 second to throw ALL the time

However Aaron Rodgers gets sacked more, when the offensive line holds, it holds for like 5 or 6 seconds. Not to mention he has running backs to check down to that don’t just fall over like LJ, and he has an offensive line that knows how to work in a check down play by getting in front of the back and bulldosing their way into the end zone.

Don’t pin this on cassel.

by TonylovesKC on Oct 6, 2009 11:10 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

well not really tony..he had multiple drives against NY

where he had time in the pocket and took off running for no reason…against Philly? yes…your correct…against Oakland?? no…not true either…He didn’t get sacked 8 times either…does that not register? 8 sacks in one game…..that’s unreal…that’s unbelievable…and still gets almost 400 yds and 2 tds comeon now!

Green Bay...

Also has far better WRs than we do. Huge Bowe fan but I would rather have Jennings and Driver to be honest.

by ChiTownChiefs on Oct 6, 2009 9:20 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

yah...I did see a different level of reciever effort than ours give..

but that brings us back to TG being gone…and I agree that as long as we use the draft next year properly it will be worth it..but for God sakes …we’re 0-4…no one seems to take that seriously in KC.

It’s like it’s no big deal here and that worries me.. you don’t have to 100% on board with me on this one..but for God sakes…isn’t anyone fet up with this?? Am I the ONLY one who cares that we are 0-4??
Am I the only fan left who wants us to be great?? And is sick of settling for this horrible shit year after year?

i'm pretty sure no one here likes being this bad

but we are so you need to look at things in a realistic manner. atlanta had a much more talented roster before they got a rookie qb, a new gm and coach. you need to distinguish between excuses and reasons. we have a bad football team that is trying to learn a new system on both sides of the football. we also have a young team very little experience winning games in the nfl. it’s far too early to give up on the changes we are trying to make after only 4 games. we WILL get it straightened out. i’m also pretty sure when we all stood up last year and said enough was enough it proved that we are sick of “settling” for bad teams. so we made changes but 99% of the time it takes a little bit to see progress made after making wholesale changes. call it an excuse if you want, i call it being objective to the situation we’re in. now if you want to be pissed, lets talk about what brought us to this point. here’s a hint: none of the current management or coaches are responsible for the past

Krayfish back to pass

looks left, looks right, he’s in trouble…….and brought down by Jared Allen! JK Kray….havin some fun! I can see both points of the arguement….Of course we were all hoping to see signs of life early on, now that that hasn’t happened there’s rightfully some feathers ruffled. I’m no different. I think that there have been some questionable decisions & moves across the board. I also think it’s too early to call for heads, at least until we lose to the likes of the Browns……then heads must roll!

oh please...reedeasy

Now I REALLY miss Jared Allen…(tears welling up)…what were we doing? Lol!! It was exciting to hear his name in a KC context even if I had to be the one getting sacked…it was a nice moment!

i was comenting on the post above mine.

About why we even traded JA. Still has me pissed off because Carl is an Egotistical JACKASS that could never put the team first, like a real GM should do.

Not defending CP at all,

but at the time 3 players for 1 when we were trying to rebuild had to seem to be the way to go. ala the Herschel Walker to Minnesota trade for 8 players or whatever it was. That trade went heavily to the Cowboys in the final analysis. However, its too early to tell about the Allen trade although he is looking super!
I believe that we got Albert, Morgen & Cottam which is currently, in retrospect, not looking to good right now; but 3 for 1 is hard to turn down especially when you are way short on players.

i know read..i was joking...you know get to the point

say what you really feel..that stuff..j/k with you. you can’t get more to the point that what you just wrote

i don't blame you my friend...you should be..

How the fuck is Denver 4-0 with all their off season drama and we’re still in the litter box of the NFL? what? I’m with you CP ruined us.

by krayfish on Oct 6, 2009 12:05 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

umm kray...

when has Cassel ever put the blame on the line? You said that Rodgers put the blame directly on himself and didnt put it off on the oline and make excuses…last I remember Cassel has done the same thing he has even said the oline has been doing a good job (cant be true but he doesnt blame anyone else)

by tomahawk44 on Oct 6, 2009 10:22 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

good point toma...

I am referring to us fans…..making excuses all the time..not Cassel…us! Me included…I just wanted to hear one post where not every single person is so in a hurry to make an excuse..
just once I wanted to hear someone sound like a Patriots fan..dammit!! Although I’m not sure what a Patriots fan sounds like.

good point actually

and one more thing...

I am okay with people not agreeing…this post isn’t a “see it my way only dammit” post. It’s just if you go back through the last 4 weeks posts…it’s 90% excuses…
I thought..holy shit…we think like a losing franchise..we’re ok with this on some level…even if it’s sub consciously…because winning franchise’s dont’ sound like us…

you got to admit it’s something to think about…we are whipped into submission here in KC because of our losses

by krayfish on Oct 6, 2009 10:47 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

You do make so good points Krayfish.

A point I would like to make is on Penalty’s, some should not happen like getting a false start at home but others I wouldn’t mind seeing sometimes. Getting an offsides on defense means someone on defense is trying to get that split second head start to the ball, (I’m not talking 2 or 3 a game but every once in a while).

Take J Allen he is good for at least 1 penalty a game usually. Like last night he got one and they showed him afterwords and he was smiling, but on the next play he was right in the Qb’s face and then on the play after that he got a sack.

We need players to man up and not be afraid of getting yelled at by the big mean coach and take that anger out on the other team. If the coach yelling at you makes you pissed, fine do like the waterboy and put Haley’s face on the guy across from you and make him pay.

Chiefs set an NFL record, most roster changes in 1 season.

by bringbacktheglory on Oct 6, 2009 11:24 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

amen bring back...that's a really unusual perspective on penalties

I can’t say I ever thought of it like that…but ..your probably right…that’s funnny if you stop and think about it…putting Haley’s face on Eli’s body…lol!! I almost spit my sandwich out at the screen.

by krayfish on Oct 6, 2009 12:07 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don't think they're afraid of getting yelled at by the big, mean coach ...

… but maybe afraid of being cut from the team by the big, mean coach

I disagree Kray!

I think any fan will make excuses. Most of them are good excuses….

The best one I can think of is the brutal murders row schedule before the Bye week. Baltimore = Brutal Giants= Brutal Philly = Brutal Dallas = Brutal ….

Its not fair to blow the Chiefs up and talk about how sorry we are as a team when we have been thrown into a creek full of shit, with shit sharks, and shit dragons…and have no paddle to get away with.
We are brand new! We have brand new everything just about from last year. We have not had much time to get everything 100% timed out. Cassel has not had lots of time to get timing down with all the different WR and TE. Our Defense is still really young at most positions. Our HC is learning how to be a HC while trying to make game plans for the offense.

Give us a break!! Your acting like Haley and Cassel are trying to tank the season. They are doing the best they can to win games without dying. Everything is going to click …. and very soon. When it does I wanna hear you apologize to Cassel and the entire Chiefs organization for talking shit about fans who make excuses.

"Its going to be a challenge, its going to feel like forever, and there will be difficulties. But we will emerge on the other side of it stronger than we were when we entered." ~ Sudden
