I love how Denver fixes in one offseason, but us chief....
I love how denver changes to a 3-4 in one offseason and no big deal, they are officially a great defense. They were ranked 30th last year, but NOOOOO us fuckin chiefs have been waiting for ten fuckin years to fix a defense. Any time our defense does anything, it's pure luck. If the Giants weren't dropping balls left and right we would have lost by 5 tds, . And don't let the scores fool you, Chiefs were blown out last week 27-7 and this week 27-3. I'm not counting junk points anymore for this pathetic football team. By the way, we traded Jared Allen for Brandon ALbert (average tackle, will never be great, for some reason everyone thinks albert and waters are great, OVERRATED, waters is fat and slow. If they were both good then we wouldn't have o line issues. What do you think, everyteam has more than two great offensive lineman?, Brad Cottom, sucks, be out fo football in one year, Jamaal Charles- can't play, dajuan morgan, do I need to go there. Thats our Jared Allen trade-Great worked out beautiful
GLENN DORSEY IS A BUST, HE SUCKS BALLS, , jACKSON SUCKS TOO( I DON'T WANT TO HEAR, TIME TO DEVELOPE CRAP, FIRST ROUND SHOULD PRODUCE WEEK ONE) Hey chiefs, keep drafting DL, maybe it will work in 25 years, Sims-bust, saivii-bust, freeman-bust, mcbride-bust, dorsey-bust, jackson-ya, as of right now he's a bust, make one fuckin play, thats al i ask. Mcgee-bust, Tank tyler-he would be a 2nd or 3rd string on every other team, he can't even beat out fat old ron edwards-bust, EVery draft pick we have is a bust, and chiefs nation is all up in arms because we gave a second for cassell and vrabel, we throw away second rounders every year for the last 10 years.Look what denver did, traded away their franchise qb, controversial offseason, etc..... 4-0, when was the last time we were 4-0, once in 03, how about before that? Denver does it every year. All their draft picks are playing great this year, contributing.
P.S. All you Cassell haters, if Denver had Cassell, they would be in the AFC Championship this year, playing for the Superbowl.
I'm out, I love the Chiefs, but i'm really pissed off right now

yea i agree how denver trades away a great qb..and switeches to a 3-4…they get royal in the 2nd round..marshall was like a 5th or something…ryan harris is a good rt..clady a good lt…yea now y cant we draft like that?

we would have drafted clady but he went before we could get him so we settled for albert and denver did switch to a 3-4 in a year but you cant compare them to the chiefs they dont have nearly as many holes as we do. they and and no first round d lineman will be producing in week one the guy writing this post knows nothing about football if he thiniks everyone of those players were bust. just because you dont make pro bowls does not mean ur not good and stats are not everything jackson will never have amazing stats hes never going to put up huge sack numbers thats just not what hes there for.

Denver has a pass rusher in Elvis Dummerville. If we had a pass rusher it would make all the difference on the defense.

I hear that about ever single team that's ever Mentioned...
you can’ compare us to Miami..you can’t compare us to Atlanta..you can’t compare us to Denver..the HELL you can’t!! You sure can…their ALL professional athletes run by professional coaches and GM’s that are supposed to know their fucking job’s.
We didn’t have our QB go to prison and our coach leave a good bye note on the lockers and bail on us…then get a new GM before the following season even started…but they did it…bullshit we can’t compare any team to the Chiefs apparently because it feels better to make excuses for us…pitiful…pitiful…excuses don’t cut it with me..
That’s why these fuckers get millions of dollars ….they don’t make 8.25 an hour…when you get paid that kind of money you don’t make fucking lame excuses …you just get out there and do your fucking job…period…we’ve yet to see that here in KC in over 20 years…

How in the hell are your defensive lineman playing? I mean I never heard of any of those guys? Did you find diamonds in the rough or would you attribute the D to the pass rush and excellent secondary? Basically what I’m saying is, how are you guys stopping the run?

I'm watchin' the 1st half of the Den-Dal game.
This doesn’t look like a great defense. One thing they’re willing to do is send extra hats. That’s kinda what I expected. My friend who watched the game misled me on this.

didn't denver win 7 games last year and probably should have won the division?
seems logical to me it would be easier to turn it around there. plus, i’m not sure they have turned it around. 4 games does not a season make

I have to agree with this guy.
Yeah Denver had a better record last year but still, they went through a complete overhaul just like us AND they lost their Pro-Bowl QB. I would say that the success Denver is having pisses me off just as much as the fact that we suck. This team is completely fucked on both sides of the ball (ESPECIALLY THE OFFENSE!!) and I don’t foresee it being any better for a looong time.
Maybe we should have been the ones to hire McDaniels cuz he is most definitely a better Coach than Haley.

Disagree.
The Bengals knocked off the Super Bowl champs last week and the Donks beat the Raiders who beat us at our house. Yeah, our schedule is tougher w/o a doubt but, that is no excuse for the terrible play of this team. We should be several weeks further ahead in our progress at this stage and this offense looks like a Pop Warner team….Pathetic!

McDaniels...
inherited one of the best offensive lines in football and all of a sudden his a genius? They won with a fluke in Cincy. The Cowboys are the most over-rated team in the NFL. I wouldn’t be surprised if we come out with a W next week. It is the first average defense we have gone up against. Denver will have problems down the road. Orton has his limitations, Marshall could blow up anytime, Dawkins and Bailey can’t play forever.

They spent the money
on a quality DC. We took a guy that was fired for lousy performance and was friends with Todd. That is how Denver and New Orleans turned their Ds around in a season.

In fact, that’s not even an excuse, it is one more reason to pile on top of all the reasons why this whole staff sucks and probably will need to be replaced at the end of the season.

You know how good Denver's O-line is right?
They drafted Clady who’s a stud o-lineman to add to a solid line. They at least have something solid to start off with.
Not all the factors are the same here tfor both teams to compare a turn around…
Also they should be 3-1. The bengals win was a freak accident/miracle.
I’m not saying Chiefs didn’t make mistakes this offseason, but Denver was in a better position overall to turn things around. They had 7 wins last season so they had something already built and defined. Though still in a mess, Chiefs have been wretched for 3 years in a row and got gutted. It is a much longer road for the Chiefs to fix things than Denver.
All I can say for Denver is “good for them”. Focus on Chiefs hopefully getting things done EVENTUALLY and not care about the other teams and how well they might be playing. It was nice to think Chiefs had a chance to win the AFC, but that was a extremely long reach in the first place. It’s not the Chiefs fault for having people so optimistic about them. This takes patience. Any anguish this team causes a fan is entirely the fan’s fault.

The Broncos. . .
Truly do not have much more talent on paper then we do. Nor did they last year. Yes they finished 8-8 but the titans finished 13-3. A previous years record does not indicate what a team will do the next year. My opinion is that Shannahan got that team ready to compete week in and week out no matter what players he had and those players bought into what he was selling, McDaniels is diong the same. Last year I don’t think ours were buying into what Herm was selling so we got rid of him and I don’t know if they are buying into Haley yet either.
I think the biggest concern we should have is that we are not seeing any progress. I think what he is saying is that why can Denver who was ranked 30th in D last year switch to the 3-4 with basically the same players at least the same front 7 adding some DBs and looking hands over feet better then us. We all knew it was going to be a long season, at least most of us, but like I said where is the progress. Each week people should be talking about how this player or that unit made strides and it’s not happening. That kind of stuff starts to fall on the coaching staff.

Denver isn't more talented on paper?
Clady > Albert
Bailey > Flowers
Dummerville > Hali
Marshall > Bowe
Royal > Anyone else in our WR corp
Cassel > Orton
Dawkins = Paige
Defensive Line ? Broncos
Ok so their team is great at 3 out of the 4 most important positions in football. LT, CB, and a pass rusher. Their QB has a good running game to lean on, not to mention great pass protection allowing him not to fuck up. The Broncos are way more talented than us. Our defensive line looks more talented on paper, but it is a young line and it does take time. I say Dawkins and Paige are a wash since Dawkins has lost a few steps since his glory days.
by I_Bleed_Red. on Oct 5, 2009 2:41 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
4 people. .
doesn’t make a more talented team. Marshall over Bowe is pretty questionable as Marshall had Cutler and Plummer as his QB while Bowe had Thiggy and Croyle.
Dumervile over Hali is iffy also. Both have played the same position DE and now OLB. Hali played better at DE then Dumervile had more sacks and while Elvis is killing it Hali is playing pretty damn good himself. Bailey is great but def not what he used to be as Flowers and Carr are both on the up not the decline. Our running backs on paper are just as good if not better then their’s. Their o-line has more time to gel but by no means is better. Before Clady and Casey they had the same line 2 years ago as now.

You lost me dude...
I just didn’t want to list out the entire roster. I only listed the most important. And I guess we have more talented running backs. Big deal when they don’t have holes to run through! Ryan Clady is probably the best left tackle in the NFL today. He is at least in the top 3. I think he has given up a sack since he got into the league!!! As for Dummerville, that was the one comparison that is leaps and bounds better than Hali. He is a natural pass rusher. Ok, maybe Hali is better against the run? I want a pass rusher. Its far more valuable. Let’s face it, besides our punter, QB, RBs, and the potential on the defensive line; the Broncos are way more talented than us or tied at certain positions.

Agreed on the coaching staff...
but I do not believe you can land everything on Haley’s shoulders concerning the players improvements with coaching. They were coached under Herm and learned how to LOSE and not win. Their development was also under a unacceptable culture. Haley does have his faults, but he did inherit “dysfunctional” students so it wasn’t exactly a clean slate. I would have to say its unfortunate some of the young players have a stunted growth starting out in the NFL because of state of the team, roster/veterans, and changes these past years.
I still believe having a strong o-line gives Denver a greater advantage over the Chiefs. That sets up their offensive game as well as gives their defense less pressure and rest. It opens up the run game and then the passing game. Cassel and Bowe may be good to great players but if you don’t give them chances to create anything, then you got nothing to work with. Even though you disagree, things are easier to click in Denver because their o-line was set already. Even with losing Cutler, they got a competent QB in Orton and they were still allowed focus a bit more on defensive improvements. Chiefs have to work on both lines to make the offense and defense work which are both anchors for each side of the game. Pioli knows this and it can’t take just one season to turn it all around. If he made a mistake this offseason, so be it. You have to give him a more than one year to turn it around.
Everyone loves to post on “add this guy” “why not add this guy” “why didn’t he add th is guy?”, but maybe you have to be in Pioli’s shoes to see how it is not that easy. Theres tons of variables to consider and we basically don’t know everything in the situation to judge them on their decisions.
Basically, I’m just trying to say it’s hard to compare much with Denver at this moment. They were in a different situation with a different coaching staff and culture in the past years.

"They were coached under Herm and learned how to LOSE and not win" ... is the biggest crock of BS lamea$$ excuse in the world
every one of these guys … hell, every NFL player for that matter, is raised in a “culture” of success and winning … from PeeWee football to High School and 4 years of College … if that “dysfunctionality” held water then Detroit would still be winless this year
you’re right on one thing, worc – Haley does indeed have faults – a lot of them – the only “culture” that I’ve seen being changed is the way the HC treats the players, and it seems it’s changed from respect to negativity and mistrust

Correction...
Denver had 8 wins last year. And with a pro-bowl QB at the helm, they had 4 games to win 1 in order to make the playoffs and they didn’t. My opinion is that the Broncos have been riding a gravy train. The reason they are 4-0 is because they got lucky as hell aginst the Bengals and then wiped out 2 non-contenders before facing the Cowboys. They beat the Cowboys at home, which Denver is a tough place to play. Besides, when you win 1 or 2 games in a row, it boosts confidence and the morale of the entire team. I guaran-damn-tee you that if the Chiefs win next weekend, it will roll over to Washington and then who knows what might happen. All it takes is one, people…
Put this in your pipe and smoke it:
1. Chiefs will be at least 8-8 and vie for division champs
2. DJ will break out and finally have his year
3. LJ returns to form
4. DBowe drops will reduce

oooh man calm down!
the broncos are off to a great start is all, just like last year the true team will come to form. Starting with San diego u will see what they are. They are a product of playing no one but dallas, beating them late at home. Remember they were 7-9 and we were 2-14. It’s going to take a little while longer to fix the 2-14 team, couple that with playing 3 of 4 teams who did make the playoffs when denver only has played no teams who has made the playoffs! Back Away from the ledge or just go ahead and jump!

Denver is the worst 4-0 team I have ever seen.
They will have a better record than the Chiefs because they got off to a hot start, but I don’t think they finish with more than 8 wins (although 7-9 might win this garbage division). They have a very good o-line, but they will fall back to earth once their schedule gets a little tougher (it is horrible).
Denver’s Remaining schedule:
AFC West: SD (2), Oak (1), KC (2)
Rest of NFL (in order): New England, Baltimore, Pitt, Washington, New York Giants, Indy, Philly

USA v USSR space race
Think of it like this. After WWII the Americans got hold of a bunch of German rocket scientists including Von Braun. The Russians also got some rocket scientists in after the war which included Korolyov. It appeared from the outside that despite all the brains at NASA that the US in the full glare of publicity could only make big bang go boom. Whereas Korolyov raced ahead with the first satellite and the first man in space. Ah, but when it came to the big prize, the US got to the moon first.

For Denver it happened last year, 4 games ahead with 4 to play, they were a lock for the post season, or were they? Could it happen again?
Tennessee, last year started 10-0, didn’t really figure in the post season and are now 0-4.
Brett Favre, always nice and fresh after skipping pre season bursts out of the gate and fades gracefully towards another retirement each year.
As for us, have you noticed how our first quarters suck and we actually seem to comeon stronger near the end, better than last year.

We were supposed to see a “tough disciplined football team” and what we have is a fumbling, disorganized piece of crap with no sense of discipline, poor coaching and to be honest, a complete lack of heart. I totally understand where he’s coming from. It’s not jumping on a bandwagon, it’s a matter of being frustrated with a team and, especially a coach who are blatantly underachieving.
People talk about a lack of talent on the team but, I don’t see that as the root of the problem. The root is a horrible coaching staff from top to bottom who have no idea how to prepare a team to win or, even be competitive for that matter. The Chiefs are most definitely NOT the most talented team but, there is not such a complete lack of ability that you can lay the blame on the players alone. This coaching staff SUCKS

I think many people have already forgotten
that Pioli and Co. are building for the long term, not just this season. It’s unfortunate that our fanbase is so starved for a win that we are actually jealous of Kyle Orton and the Denver Broncos (although the Ortonstache might make any man jealous). Yeah, the Broncos have 4 wins already. Big deal. Do you think they are a superbowl caliber team? Not me. As saskwatch posted earlier, 8-8 is probably the best the Donks can do. If they win the division and see the playoffs they are more than likely gone the first round. Therefore, Bronco fans should be just as unhappy with their team as we are. Of course they’re not because of a few token wins.
Yes, I am just as exasperated with this team as most fans are, but I am willing to suffer now for the chance at a superbowl later. That is much better then to start playing for a “decent” record and a division title. We could be competitive within the AFC West if we went out and signed Jeff Garcia, Levi Jones, and Marvin harrison, but at what cost to future plans? We have been down the road of mediocrity before, and although it is better than where we are now, in the end it is just as frustrating as being 0-4. If the only thing accomplished by the end of this season is an improved Cassel at QB, then it will be a success. Go CHiefs!

how Denver Isn’t also building for the future, they have 2 1st round drafts pick next year nad if they re-sign Brandon Marshall their team has about as much youth as ours minus Brian Dawkins and Champ Bailey. Their draft picks just seem to be producing a little faster than our is all.
I hate freaking Denver wiht everything in me, living in Colorado Springs for a few years and having to Denver that Broncos crap made me sick but we’ll be able to gage how “good” our team is compared to there’s in the 2nd half of the season when we play the “easier” part of our schedule and they play the “harder” part but they have beaten the only common opponent thus far.
As of right now, I’m just as po’ed as everyone else but it’s only 4 games into the season sit back relax and have a 6 pack of cold ones b/c we’re all gonna need ’em if the season continues like this.

I'd be fine with 9-7 or 10-6 and competiting for the divsion title

They already...
traded one of the first rounders in the draft last year when they got Alphonso Smith (CB, Wake).

ok
I forgot about that but still my point remains they’re young just like we are. Obviously them playing the “easier” part of their schedule first has worked in their advantage allowing them work out the kinks w/ both their offense and defense but my thoughts are we played really well @ Balt, i was there, beat Oakland to only lose @ the end and then just laid an egg the last two weeks. yes we played better teams but we seem to be heading in the worng direction.

The problem with Denver though
is that even though they are winning, they still suck. They’ve played sub-par teams and the only decent team they played (Cincinnati) they won on a fluke play. It’s going to make it hard for them over the offseason because they will think they are more talented than they actually are, and not upgrade what needs to be upgraded. The Chiefs, on the other hand, will see that they suck the whole time, and everyone making us suck will be kicked out the door.

Just to lighten to mood a little.
I find it funny that we call Denver the Donkeys as an insult.
but Donkeys was one of the names on the list, of names for the Chiefs.
I am so glad they went with Chiefs.
Chiefs set an NFL record, most roster changes in 1 season.

Is this what us as fans have come to...?
Are we actually gonna become band wagon fans for other teams? Sure, I respect other teams (except the Raiders…only certain players) but honestly what did any of you expect? Win the AFC West this year, AFC Division next, and Superbowl in year three? Honestly…you guys seem more rediculous than Jason Whitlock. A few of you are trying to tell everyone else that a TRUE BLUE rebuild does not happen overnight but that is what our culture has come to. We need it yesterday, not tomorrow. Just because we have fast food, fast cars, and fast women does not mean that we can have a fast rebuild and be challengers every year.
Now, I can understand why a lot of you guys are mad. So am I, but at least I look at the realizm of our situation and not jump the, “we need to spend all our money for over the hill superstars to win it all today and damn the future of our franchise!” bandwagon. I’m on the K.C. Chiefs bandwagon…the TRUE bandwagon…I’m there with Chris, Joel, Patrick Allen, Vince D, and sir Eccles…to name a few…where are the rest of you? where’s your pride gone?
My brother plays highschool football. He’s a freshmen and, even though he’s made the Varsity team, he’s 3rd string. He’s second string on JV and gets to see some action on JV games. I watch his games and he is going to be a stud at MLB but I don’t demand perfection on his frist year in High School football…all I want is that he does the best he possibly can and build off of that for next year, and the year after, and so on…It’s the same thing with our team. We actually have something to build on and I see that clear as day this year! We got Hali actually being a threat this year, Cassell who is the most confident and compitent QB the Chiefs have had in YEARS, Bowe, who is a superstar in the making, Charles, who is lightning fast, DJ who will own the middle of the LB core, and Flowers/Carr who will OWN the secondary for years to come…what do the Donkeys have that they didn’t fill with over-the-hill players on 1-2 year contracts?
If you are true blue K.C. fans then get on the right bandwagon, or stop trying to bring the rest of us down!

Just Wait...
When Denver starts losing and we start winning its gonna feel a lot better to say we are on the incline while they are on the decline. I’d much rather lose first then start winning because its a much more positive then realizing your a fluke and losing a bunch

At First...
I was thinking wow that means we have no excuses but i mean like i said this could just be a fluke or this could mean that getting that first win is everything. Even though it was a miracle getting that win against the bengals, it helped a lot because it gave them confidence, they bought into it what they’re trying to do, and they gained a ton of support. It makes you wonder what if that blitz against Baltimore did work, we drove down the field kicked the field goal and tied it, and won it in over time. Then we would have gained confidence, the players and all of us would have bought into it and they would have gained a ton of support and arrowhead would actually be as full as it could be and be that loud force again.

NOT TOO HARD TO TURN AN 8-8 SEASON AROUND GUYS
Plus, if i can recall, the chargers started 4-8 and broncos 8-4, but Broncos didnt make the playoffs. The Chargers did.
Bowe and Wade FTW.

Completely Apples and Oranges, sir
And to call them busts is completely moronic…I don’t care what you don’t want to hear, that is the reality of football…if you don’t like it, I hear baseball is big this time of year

I hate the term bust.
Its so speculative. Is Tamba or DJ or Bowe a bust because they aren’t pro-bowlers? No. Forget the term bust. Either a player is helping your team or he isn’t and to try to say that it’s not good enough soon enough isn’t fair to the players.
I don’t think the Chiefs have any busts right now. If you want to try to use that term on one of our players that won a starting job for a very picky coach that didn’t draft him, just remember Michael Crabtree. Now there is a bust

TL;DR anything but...
Denver was 4-0 last year after the first quarter of the season
Finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs
They were a better team then the Chiefs overall last season and still are this season.
by butchcassidy on Oct 6, 2009 3:11 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
The chiefs were 1-3 at this point last season...
and finished 2-14 missing the playoffs by more then a bit…
They are who we thought they were and a magical turnaround was a lofty goal once the schedule was set into place.
So if you tempered your expectations then none of this should be a surprise to anyone.

locker room culture
thats what it comes down to. its hard to change a losing culture. oh yeah you could say just win, but its gonna take a while for the chiefs to get back to 1990s status
My beloved Chiefs haven't won a playoff game since i was in 1st grade.

Their is one reason their defense is better, Brian Dawkins. You need a good safety for a 3-4 to work. Look at all the great 3-4 defenses over the last 5 years. Ed Reed, Troy Palumolu. Now Brian Dawkins. Also, Hali is to tall to play in the 3-4. With the exception of Demarcus Ware, the best 34 OLB are all around 6’1, James Harrison,. Dummervile, Merriman. Hali is playing great when you consider that. Also, their team played together all last year. It is way to early for people to be crying like this. Also, for you to say, McBride, Cottam, Charles, Albert, Dorsey, Jackson, are all bust is ridiculous. Also Tank Tyler please. We dont know if Cottam, Charles, Morgan will develop, but we also dont know if they wont. Finally, For you to say Jackson is a bust just goes to show your iggnorance. After 4 games, News Flash, this team will not win many games this year!!! Please stop with these rants people. They are not helping anyone, including yourself, They are just putting every Chiefs fan that reads them in a bad mood.

I'm not even gonna read all the 93 comments already on here...it's too much
but here’s the truth…YOUR RIGHT!! That’s it.. that’s the truth…Atlanta did it ….Denver is doing it…Miami did it last year…I know some people say..don’t bring them into the argument..but it’s valid..because it’s the truth..they are for real.
It CAN be done….that doesn’t mean that we’re not going to get it together here in KC, but it would be nice to have the Falcons type turn around…or Flacco and the Ravens type turn around….people forget they Got flacco and they got busy…they also were a turn around team …just not as mainstream media as Atlanta and Miami….
WE could do it too but we don’t …I wonder the same thing.
by krayfish on Oct 7, 2009 7:40 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Your wrong Krayfish, you cant compare those teams to KC....
Only Miami was in as bad of shape as KC. The Broncos were 8-8. Also, None of those teams are/will be Superbowl contenders last year or thise yeas except Baltimore and the Falcons. My point is it takes a year. Scott Pioli proved that once before in 2001. Also, More often then not bad tams stay bad. So the logic of that arguement is off.
