Yes, this is an effort to avoid some of the negativity floating around which is bound to appear when your team starts 0-4.  Here are a few franchise record notes that came out of the Kansas City Chiefs 27-16 loss to the New York Giants:

Forced fumbles

Tamba Hali's "sack and hack" as Mitch Holthus called it was the 13th forced fumble of his career.  This puts him third on the Chiefs franchise record book.  He's tied with Jared Allen and Kevin Ross.  Allen played more games than Hali and, assuming he gets one more this year, Hali will pass the former Chief.

He's unlikely to pass the top two on the list: Derrick Thomas with 45 and Neil Smith with 29.

Attempts from scrimmage

Larry Johnson passed Chief great Ed Podolak for second place on the franchise record for attempts from scrimmage.  LJ has 1,461, 15 more than Podolak.

He's now 111 attempts behind the Chiefs all-time leader, Priest Holmes

Rushing yards

With his 53 yards rushing today, LJ now has 189 on the season.

This puts him 232 yards away from Priest Holmes franchise record for rushing yards

Other notes

  • Mike Brown's sack was the sixth of his career
  • Cassel now has eight multi-touchdown games of his career (second as a Chief)
  • Cassel has a touchdown pass in three consecutive games
  • Bobby Wade, Dwayne Bowe and Sean Ryan are tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions (two)

well first time since 1980 for the Chiefs being 0-4

I had no idea about that Hali stat

He’s got 13 in only a couple of seasons? He might have a shot at Neil Smith’s 29 if he sticks around long enough. He probably won’t sniff DT’s unbelievable 45. That guy was from another planet.
