Chiefs Enter the Fourth Quarter Down by 17 Points

20 to 3, in favor of the Giants. The Giants have the ball going into the fourth quarter. Stats are here.

The offensive stats are truly terrible so I won't even post them.

It's going to take a huge comeback by the Chiefs to pull this one off. Do you believe? Eh, I don't really believe either but I'm cheering 'em on.

I'm just saying with Cassell

we invested a ton of money and I feel like he’s regressed. I totally agreee he’s not getting time, and it’s too early to make any decisions on his play. I’m just concerned at the things that aren’t affected by the line, like the over/underthrows and telegraphing passes.

A perfect metaphor for the 2009 KC Chiefs:

1. On the biggest LEGAL hit of the game, we get called for a personal foul.

by sapper12b on Oct 4, 2009 2:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Trying to be objective

Matt Cassell is completely mediocre. He doesn’t do much that has impressed me from the first preseason game to today, five yard dump offs and overthrowing the deep pass. I know the o-line is weak but the man is simply mediocre.

by Wildcat2180 on Oct 4, 2009 2:36 PM CDT reply actions

yes matt has been medicore with an even worse O-line hard to talk about any offensive players when your offense isn’t able to run correctly

by Wildcat2180 on Oct 4, 2009 2:40 PM CDT up reply actions

well...

all chiefs fans knew that bringing in ol and wr in the off-season was a good idea. it would help the offense. they didn’t do that. blame pioli a little at least.

by stlfan on Oct 4, 2009 2:41 PM CDT up reply actions

Nope.

There wasn’t exactly a mountain of good options to go after.

They’re putting pieces in place, and filling in the ones we can’t find the resources for yet, with stopgaps. The stopgaps will dissipate over the next couple of seasons and we’ll eventually have legit pieces of the time all throughout.

Good GM doesn’t necessarily mean that in his first 6 months here, there will be a ton of great O Line options available for him to acquire. It doesn’t work that way.

Seeing as how they would have to move the ball down the field…it’d take a couple minutes. If they had scored, there would probably be a minute or less on the clock. They have no timeouts = game over.

People complained and said he never fumbled and that it’s taken out of context. First touch of the game? Fumble.

Aside from that, Cassel has not looked good this game. Not watching it, but listening to it. And all I keep hearing is “overthrown” “thrown behind” and “thrown short”. Not good. Len Dawson is crying on the inside.
