Chiefs Driving as First Half Winds Down

14 to 3, in favor of the Giants. The first half is nearly over. The Chiefs are driving.

The Chiefs defense is looking very good. They're actually generating a pass rush which is great to see. The offense has been frustrating to watch but I think they'll get better in the second half.

One side note, everyone take a deep breath in the comments. We've had three bans today and those people had prior issues on Arrowhead Pride. You can criticize the Chiefs. Just do it in a constructive manner. We're not banning people for just criticizing the team.

We're all Chiefs fans here. Let's cheer on our team!

GOOOOOOO CHIEFS!!!!

Down 11

and they get the ball to start second half. That’s why we need to go for it.

Problem is

if we DON’T make it, Giants are very likely to score again.

They are likely to score anyway

we need to take chance to win. We really have nothing to lose.

Yeah

but as well as we’ve played today, and it HAS been better, if we lose, no one will care. We have to do anything to get a win.

If the ref thinks the QB is moving to try and draw the D offside

they’ll call it. Elway used to get called for it once in a while.

And at least the Raiders are getting manhandled. So a little schadenfreude will carry us through the rest of today.

Bad playcalling? Or lack of awareness on the receivers’ part? Or the absence of blocking giving him no time to throw deeper?

24 points against the Ravens. 10 points against the Raiders. I don’t even see any room for controversy. Croyle is a better QB than Cassel, and has shown it on the field this year.

by SDChief on Oct 4, 2009 1:54 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

killed any chance at momentum

defense holds on the first possession, we get the ball in good field position, not having to go to the air. Instead we’re down three scores, trying to air it out, offensive line buckles, defense is tired.

Sorry.

Perhaps it’s time for Haley to put his money where his mouth is, and put in the QB who stands the best chance of winning some games – Brodie Croyle. Tired of losing? Quit pretending that Croyle was the problem. It’s now obvious that the line is the problem.

I’m sorry – 24 points against the Ravens vs 27 points TOTAL against the Raiders, Eagles, and Giants – why is there even a question? Croyle is the better QB.

Sauce for the goose...

So why is it Croyle’s fault when they lose his starts? He put up 24 points on the Raiders. Cassel put up 10 on the Raiders. Put Croyle in, please. I’m tired of watching the Chiefs lose because everyone hates the redneck.

by rco3 on Oct 4, 2009 2:38 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

You mean...

We were still looking for an O-line who could protect a QB. You think YOUR knee withstands a 300-lb dude falling on you? That’s the o-line’s fault. And Croyle looks better than Cassel this year, maybe it’s time to stop blaming Croyle for the Chiefs sucking.

I see no progression just average players each gameday Sunday which turns into boys v men byt the time the game finishes!! The other teams that suck can at least move the chains and get the odd td which is like pulling teeth for the Chiefs!! We are defo the worst team in the NFL….teams know we are going to run or might take a short pass but never go deep….geez attempt to go deep now and again so not to make the game to damn easy for the opposition…I still can`t believe Haley tried an onside kick…why? Sure if you look like moving the chains try something like that but why put more pressure on your defense? Quite frankly to many average players…to many mistakes….and crap playcalling…cant wait for this season to end……we will still be in rebuild mode 5 years from now just you watch….any decent players we have will abandon ship and so the cycle continues…

well, actually

the spitting and whining and getting 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalties in the redzone is the LJ we know. But still, good run. 4 realz

I totally understand

he has no time. I’ve just been frustrated that when he’s HAD time, he’s either underthrown, overthrown, or telegraphed the throw. I’m not saying he sucks, he’s just not improving, and that’s reallly frurstrating.

http://hardwoodparoxysm.com

by Ridiculous Matt on Oct 4, 2009 2:09 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

That's more likely when you're trying to throw short all the time

it’s not easy to look off a receiver when you do a three step and throw

Its time for a new QB in the game.

You cant tell me that there isnt anyone worth throwing the ball to. Bring in Brody.

im just sayin spread would give us a chance to give cassel protection by time he

drops back pressure is on we need to play the spread two min offense all day long might as well games over. no reason to get cassel killed out there

i wish ndukwe was active for goff spot, alleman in niswanger’s spot

then morgan for brown, washington for leggett….

otherwise why did we draft washington with lots of top guards available

I am going to go out on a limb here

and declare that all the people bitching about Cassel are out of their god damn minds.

I don;t know why Cassel doesn’t just grow some wings and fly over all the guys in the back field.

PA

I hear you. I’ve been supportive of him this year. I feel like he can make throws Brodie can’t, and I believe he’s got a lot of great tangibles. I’m just concerned with his play today.

I can't get down on the guy

for having two bad throws when he has ridiculous pressure like this. It is out of control. No one can play behind a line like that.

I understand that.

It’s been the continued telegraphing and throwing behind the marker on third down are really the points of problem. His touchdown passes, rare ast hey are, have been great.

It is a minor concern though

When he rolls out of the pocket he needs to throw it away

Yeah, done for the day here.

Both of my NFL teams start out the season 0-4. Fantastic Sunday for me.

My Chiefs (my first and only NFL true love)

And my Titans, because I live in Nashville and they’ve grown on me.

Well at least there’s baseball, because I’m a Mets fan….oh well. Dammit.

Hey, hockey season is just getting going and my Rangers might not be an awful disappointment. So there’s an outside chance I’ll get to cheer somewhere at least once this sports year.
