Top 5 Must have Underclassman

Hello Everybody I am making a list of my top 5 underclassman.

1 A.J Green Georgia:  Green was widely considered to be one of the top football prospects of the 2008 high school class.[1][2]

A. J. Green's 5,373 career receiving yards rank second and his 279 career receptions rank fourth on the National Federation of High Schools’ football all-time career receiving records.[4]

Green was profiled by Sports Illustrated as part of its "Where Will They Be?" stories on potential future professional greats, alongside John Tavares and others.[5] Sports Illustrated compared him to the then-Oakland Raiders wideout Randy Moss and predicted Green will be in theNFL by 2011.

Rivals.com ranked Green their #9 prospect for the high school class of 2008[6], while Scout.com named Green their #10 prospect nationally.[7]He participated in the Under Armour All-America Game. This kid is amazing beautiful routes and speed just love him.

2 Jahvid Best  RB Cal university  He's a mix of power and speed has great bulldozer trucking and speed like Clinton Portis of Washington is ranked the number one prospect for next years class but he's a junior so he could go this year like a lot of other running backs do.

3 Brayan Bulaga  OT Iowa if he keeps playing like he is now he's a lock for a top ten pick in this or next years draft solid foot work good hands good weight great height and fundamentals I would compare him to Jack Long of the 2008 Draft.

4 Eric Berry Tennessee He doesn't need an introduction on AP because it seems like everyone on here is ranting about is tackling and coverage and playmaking abilities.

5 Carlos Dunlap DE highmoter like Dwight Freeney of the colts good skills and intangibles could play end in a 3-4 and a 4-3 at 6-6 290 pounds.

he's only a sophomore

but….I would love to see tyler sash playing for the chiefs in the next few years. he is undoubtedly the biggest playmaker for Iowa.

i like

Ricky Stanzi of Iowa i think if he works on his decision making he will be a tom Brady clone/ late round gem.

No way you see that in Stanzi...

I see him as a solid back-up no more. I dont see how you can predict he will be tom brady clone. He doesnt have any of the intagibles and makes horrible decisions. If Iowa had a better QB they wouldnt be in so many close games.

I like Tyler Sash though, but we will still have to see what happens next year. As for Iowa, Im still waiting for them to have a tuff opponent. Ohio State will be the best people they play all year.

you may be right

but i’m not that high on him. he just has way too many turnovers, whether an interception or a fumble…

but he may be good with a good qb coach. iowa’s qb coach/offensive coordinator hasn’t really produced a great qb, even though he’s had some guys come in with some raw talent.
stanzi has great skills and has poise and is very resilent, but the decision-making hasn’t been there.

some of the stadiums are harder to play in

than the teams are, especially in the better conferences. here’s the thing, iowa is playing their whole season without a bye. they beat decent teams in michigan, michigan st, and wisconsin. you really can’t argue that penn st isn’t a great team, can you? if they beat ohio st, they’ll be the only team in big ten history to win on the road @ penn st, michigan st, and ohio st in the same season. ohio st will definitely be a test, but even now people continue to underrate iowa.

Penn state is not a Great Team.....

The best team on their schedule is Ohio State, That speaks for itself. when the best team you face barely beats Air Force that speaks for it all. Then you have to consider that alot of the teams Iowa faced they barely beat. Even bad teams. Even if Iowa runs the table, I dont see them playing in the NC because of these close games. They would have to schedule a tuffer non conference schedule for me to take them serious. If they do run the Table they will goto the Rose Bowl.

Penn State is overrated...

Iowa hasnt proved anything, Unless they beat OSU they wont even deserve the Rose Bowl

This guy is good....

There is no doubt in my mind that he will be a better pro then Okung. I could be wrong, Thats just my opinion. The good thing about Solder is he can play G as well. If he comes out, which I think he will, And we can get him w/ our 1st 2nd round pick and Berry with our 1st. Then address the interior line or a skill posistion with our other 2nd. I beleive we contend very soon. He would hold down LT, Albert could move to LG, Waters could move to RG, O Cal @ RT. Then draft a C in the 3rd for competition @ C.

Ultimatly, I beleive Solder will come out and get tooken in the late 1st though.

A lot of scouts think

That once you start hitting 6 8 or 6 9 that you lose some ability to get low enough in leverage situations and that it’s easier for a 6" for 6 1 linebacker to run right around you or run under you….. I’d be weary of a 6 9 tackle… haven’t been too many that tall that have been successful…

by callmesir on Nov 1, 2009 3:50 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Solder uses leverage very good. He used to be a smaller TE so he had to use leverage. Also, There have been several LT who are 6’7 and up. Orlando Pace is 6’8, Im not gonna keep looking them up but I know there are several more.

guess what

it doesn’t matter what the margin is, a win is a win, and iowa has managed to do it 9 times this year. they’ve managed to lose zero times. good teams find ways to win. you are quick to judge a team by the scores instead of the record or talent. ever considered the possibility that they are just playing to the level of their opponents?
so if iowa wins out, makes it to the national championship and wins by one point, they aren’t the best team in the nation….that’s what i’m getting.
half of their close wins are because of a conservative-minded coach. run run run, play bend but don’t break defense.
not to mention losing one running back to the nfl, the new starter pre-season to a season-long injury, having to start a committee of two true freshmen.

as much as i hate the BCS, it does a better job of accounting for strength of schedule than you do.

Just beat The Ohio State U

I and most of AP will be rooting on Iowa in the Rose Bowl.
Now we just got to get TX, AL, and FLA to lose a game or two :)

Its the BCS, It doesnt matter if they win out, They wont go to the National Championship because that will be Florida/Alabama vs. TX.

They will probably go to the Rose Bowl, Also, Your obviously a fan thats why you say a win is a win. But that is not the case. Im pretty sure the comp takes into account the scores of each game. Im just being honest man. They dont have a chance of going to the National Championship man. That sucks for you but its just the truth. Not with TX and Florida being undefeated and or Alabam. Because 2 of those teams will be and all have had harder Non Conf schedules bro.

Iowa is actually one of my favorite teams...

I like Mizzou, Arkansas and Iowa. Ive lived in Iowa most of life but Im a Mizzou student so they are first. I like Ark because my cousin played basketball for them in the 90s. Ive been a Hawkeye fan for almost all my life til I got to Miz. Its just the truth man. I wont say they have a 0% chance to get to the NC but it is less then 1%. You would probably need Oregon, Texas to both loss a game or Alabama and Florida to both loss a game. Maybe if Alabama and Tx both loss you have a chance at about 35%, but less then 1% any other way.

ok...

whether or not iowa goes undefeated and makes it to the NC isn’t something I was arguing. however, i do believe your scenario above could play out as the big 12, SEC, and Pac 10 play conference championships, and we all know you can lose early in there year, but not the last couple weeks. there’s no forgiveness there.

one more thing, and i hope this puts all the naysayers to rest, out of the top 25 teams, iowa has the 2nd strongest strength of schedule behind arizona, whom iowa has beaten.

here’s the link:

http://www.sportingnews.com/college-football/article/2009-10-26/what-we-learned-strength-schedule-comes-under-focus

i do believe that it hinges on 2 things:

1) obviously iowa has to beat ohio st. i think that alone moves them up in everybody’s polls.

2) they have to win out.

i do believe pollsters know tenured coaching styles by now, and i find it hard to imagine that they don’t know that ferentz refuses to drive up scores while coaches like bob stoops, pete carroll, etc, love to do so

I would most definitly cheer for Iowa in the NC...

But I doubt it happens unless my senario plays out. Florida/ Alabama would have to loss 1, plus TX loss 1. Florida or Ala will lose 1 in the sec championship. TX wont. If TX losses Iowa has a pretty good chance.

Florida Schedule
Vandy
S. Carolina
Florida Intl
Florida st

Ala
LSU
Miss State
Chattanoga
Auburn

TX-
UCF
Baylor
Kansas
Tex AM

I can tell you TX wont loss and Florida wont loss. Alabama Shouldnt loss but maybe LSU or Auburn pulls the upset.

Also, By the end of the year Iowa will not has the highest SOS. I would be quite happy to see Iowa vs Oregon in the Rose Bowl, Which Im guarenteeing that will be the match up. Please bookmark this so you can rub it in my face if Im wrong:).

Honestly, Hopefully A & M can upset TX because I know a team from the North doesnt stand a chance.

i don't care

if iowa isn’t in the national championship. if iowa wins out, i’ll be happy. i’ll be happy with the rosebowl. i won’t be a whinny boise st fan etc etc.

personally, i think the best two teams are oregon and texas. they seem to match up well.

i see alabama and florida as about even. i believe alabama will beat florida. will texas win out? idk. i think they might get upset. they’ve looked pretty solid from what i’ve seen from them, so probably not.
